Costs more but the cheaper montion sensors usually don't last as long .
This motion sensor costs quite a bit more than what you can find in a big box store. Based on prior experience trying less expensive motion sensors, I have found the inexpensive sensors do not last long and they are more prone to problems when you have an interruption with power.I have only had the RAB sensor in use for less than 30 days so I can not vouch for longevity yet. The housing for the light, waterproof gasket, and screws for mounting to the box were better quality than you would get with a cheaper motion sensor. The hanging hook to aid with wiring is a nice addition to the parts package. Installation was about the same as any other motion sensor. I installed a new junction box and did not have an issue with the screw length. I do have to say that you have to be careful when you extend the arm of the sensor. It is packed in a compact position for shipping and it takes a little time to figure out how to extend it without feeling like you are going to break it. The light is installed and working perfectly so far. I found the installation instructions fairly well written. The product help contact information is prominently displayed on the back of installation manualKudos to RAB Customer Service. I misplaced the waterproof gasket (which I subsequently found) and I called RAB Customer Service to order a new one. They sent me the waterproof gasket, the CU4EZ Plate, and the parts kit at no charge and I received it within two days. I full expected and was willing to pay; what a pleasant surprise.I installed two LED flood lights. The instructions mention incandescent and fluorescent bulbs but nothing about using LED lights. So far I had no issues with them.Overall, this was fairly expensive set up when you add up the total costs ($99 RAB + $70 LED floods). Due to the mounting location, which is hard to get to and high up, I wanted this to be a one shot deal that I never have to deal with again. I am hopeful that spending the extra $ will be worth it.Update: RAB Technical Support said that you can use LED lights in this fixture as long as they state on the LED package that they can be used in motion sensors.

Amazon RAB products are not covered by RAB warranty!
I purchased a RAB STL360HW from Amazon.com on 2/16/2016. Recently the unit turns on without anyone being in front or near the light. It may go OFF then randomly turn ON but it stays on most of the night. Contracted the manufacturer RAB about my problem. I included a copy of my Amazon receipt. They asked me what type of bulbs I was using. I said LED. They replied “Unfortunately the sensor itself is not compatible with LED bulbs”. “I recommend switching over to Halogen and seeing if that corrects the issue, if not then the sensor would need to be replaced. Since Amazon is not an authorize distributor, I recommend reaching out to the seller or Amazon for warranty”. I mentioned that on 4/11/2015 I made a claim to RAB about a non-functional sensor. They shipped me a new sensor. Company response “as stated on the terms we do not sell through any third party such as amazon, ebay etc. Those replacements for the previous sensors were a onetime courtesy replacement. I apologies as this was not brought to your attention at that time. Hope you have a wonderful day.” At the time of the repair there was no mention of Amazon being a none authorized dealer. Thinking that RAB honored their warranty later I purchased 2 more lights. So, if you’re thinking about buy any RAB product from Amazon remember any warranty claim will be DENIED.

Light bulbs
Due to reviews: Halogen vs LED. I called the company who informed me that they did not do well with LED.Have not used them long enough to truly rate but I'll wait to change to LED since the company stated that the information given by Amazon was confusing.

Finally a motion light that works
I have had many of those cheap Home Depot Heath/Zenith products installed at my house. I thought that was the only thing that was available. They would constantly go on with the slightest amount of wind or rain. If I adjusted the sensitivity down to where that didn't happen, then they wouldn't come on when someone walked in their path. Even after just 5 years of use, the one had a cracked lens and it was all brittle. The shields for the lights were starting to rust. Cheap Chinese crap.So I ordered this RAB Stealth motion light. I was a bit nervous about paying close to $100 but once I received it, you know it is well worth the price. You can tell it's well built. It even has rubber grommets around the light sockets to keep moisture out of the light socket. It was simple to install and set up. I have had it up for over a month now, and it has performed perfectly. No false triggering, even in heavy rain and strong winds. This thing is great. Now I can leave it on and forget about it and let it do its job while keeping my electricity bill down.

Do not use LED lamps with this unit!
This is a good product, but one very important piece of information which I got from their telephone technical support, which even the professional electrician did not know: You should NOT use LED or CFL bulbs in this unit. Because of the way that they affect the flow of current, they can confuse, and possibly damage, the motion and light sensor. Mine was behaving oddly, and when I called, this was the first question they asked me. So, I went out and got halogen bulbs, and the behavior improved.Apparently, some people can use LED bulbs without a problem, and some people encounter problems with them. If you're having problems, get halogen or (if you can find them) incandescent bulbs. If the problem persists, call their support number; they might send you a replacement sensor.
