I'm a Baitcaster user from way back and had two when I bought the #300 being a larger capacity reel. Have got rid of both existing Baitcasters I had as the #300 Alijos is just so much better in every possible way. When adjusted correctly this reel will cast 40 plus meters and stop without feathering the line, and will NOT cause birds-nest either, the magnetic brake works just so much better than any other reel I've used. Can't recommend this reel highly enough. (have since bought the lower gear ratio reel for off shore fishing) Paul

Ok, I’ve had this reel for 2 years now and use it exclusively fishing in saltwater in the backwaters of the Florida Everglades. Caught numerous speckled trout and it performed beautifully. Casting is wonderful with no backlashes. Have it spooled with 30 pound braid and a 20 pound mono top shot. It is paired with an Ugly Stik Tiger Lite pistol grip rod, med heavy action. Last week was seeing barracuda in the area and put on a wire leader. Hooked up on a 6 ft lemon shark. The 33 pounds of drag worked flawless and was able to stop and slowly bring the fish to the boat. Totally impressed with this reel.

Update 7/14/26 - Bought the new all black model since I liked the previous one so much. I fish my gear hard and catch big fish. I use these on offshore groundfish in 90-130' of water. 4-8oz weights on 7-8' rods. For $114, I'm not sure you will find a better reel. If you have, let me know. Also, Piscifun, reach out to me, I can get this reel in photos with big fish! 6/26 - I fish all Tranx 300's as my day to day reels. I needed one more reel for a rod I built but didn't want to spend what a Tranx costs for a setup I may use 5x a year. Stumbled across this reel and despite almost never buying $100 class reels, I was just curious enough to place an order. Upon opening I could feel instantly this wasn't another cheap reel. Was it cheaper than the Tranx 300's? Sure, but I paid $100 for it. I could order 3. Spooling it up I started to feel like I got a deal. Smooth crank, quality handle, nothing clunky or noisy, sturdy enough feel. It's not every day you are impressed by a $100 reel. Then I fished it. I have 5 or so times now. Many fish. It's a sweet little reel that gets the job done while never reminding me it only cost $100. This isn't your show piece, but it sure as heck can be your side. So, why only 4 stars? Because, while it will impress you, it's still a $100 reel.
