Very smooth and fine planing. Requires manual adjustment of the blade at first use with a mallet but this is easily achieved.

Really good quality and very sharp

This is the perfect addition to my tool kit, As an apprentice Luthier at College planing & scraping wood is a constant daily task & after 5 mins setting this up it was cutting shavings of wood like a dream & left the surface almost perfect, each piece of wood is unique so requires a bit of trial & error to find the best orientation to plane it properly, but after seeing these results I'm confident that this will be a great time saving investment that leaves an almost perfect surface finish, I did watch a few videos on how to set these Japanese plane's up properly so I wasn't buying on impulse, be patient when adjusting because it's definitely worth it as the steel is razor sharp! I Would definitely recommend to anyone who works with wood regularly as you won't regret it.
