Arrow Video Gamera - The Showa Era [Blu-ray]

Way better than I thought and extremely happy with the boxset a classic must have if you love the nostalgia. And Arrow Films produce quality remasters.

I love all the Godzilla films but I also love the other Japanese monster films that I had on the old VHS tapes. Now I can watch it remastered in vision and sound. In this collection there are some films I have never seen and I love them.

I'd expect nothing less from Arrow but this is a very well made boxset. If you're into old Godzilla and Kaiju, or classic sci-fi movies in general, you could do a lot worse for 30 quid. This will be one of the most priced additions to my movie collection.

Fun to watch though many of the films are aimed at children who spend most of the time screeching their admiration for Gamera. In one film on another planet shout out when entering a building when silence might be better. To be honest, these films are about a poor man's Godzilla with monsters that are limited in movement and whose eye movements simply continually moving back and forth in their sockets - but to be fair, consider when they were made.

Gamera if you know Godzilla this is one for you.

Thank you very much. I never watch long Gamera 1965 to 1980 then I found Blu-ray it beautiful and I will watch all.

Ein kleines Schmuckstück ist diese Box mit den Showa-Filmen der Riesenschildkröte. Passend zur Heise-Box. Alle Gamera-Filme, liebevoll aufbereitet, in japanischer und englischer Sprachversion. Jede Menge Extras runden das positive Bild ab. Nicht für jede/n, aber für Fans ein Muss.

Bellissimi film della fantascienza giapponese degli anni 60 e 70 ! Protagonista assoluto è sempre Gamera ... Il mostro eroe .. Audio giapponese e sottotitoli in inglese , dell'italiano neanche l'ombra ... La qualità video è davvero ottima per essere un blu ray . 😃👍

Showa era Gamera is from my era. I enjoyed these growing up watching on TV before the cable days. These Blu-rays are good quality and the commentary is good also.

I'm not what you would call an art lover, but the artwork of both the box and the individual covers just blew me away. This box set would a tasteful gift for anyone.

Schade, ich hatte mir ein besseres Bild erwartet, da die Filme nicht lang sind und auf dem Medium Blu Ray auch in höchsten Bitraten Platz haben. 79 Min SW-Film hätte man auch fast unkomprimiert unterbringen können. So stört ein stets präsentes Bildrauschen und zu hoher Kontrast (kaum Detail in dunklen Bildbereichen) den Eindruck. Der englische Ton ist gut. Das war es aber auch. Wer bereits die deutschen DVDs von Cultmovies besitzt, kann sich das Upgrade sparen.
