Stanley Fatmax 5m/16ft Tape Measure, 5-33-886

There is a couple of cabinet makers I work with that their shop drawings are in centimeters. I use a standard fat max tape measure daily,I’ve tried the other brands and have always went back to my fat max, I decided to upgrade my metric tape measure to the same quality.

Quality product.Very easy to read with accuracy.Lost my first Fat Max. It was big & heavy.This shorter version is much lighter & easier to handle.

Extremely strong and reliable tape

I had a contractor at the house and was amazed that he could measure an entire room without the tape measure getting floppy. I one clicked this guy and could not be happier with the results.As the contractor said, "Once you have a fat max you'll laugh at everyone else's limp d*** tape measures."

Because it has both metric and standard on the tape it makes it harder to use it for most measuring applications in comparison to other tape measures. In my opinion, it would be a lot better tape measure if it had the measurements on both sides of the tape. The really big front hook can either be a good thing or a bad thing. When working in a commercial setting with metal studs it comes in very handy. In a residential setting, however, it can get caught and stuck in between wood a lot. The actual quality and sturdiness of the tape is impeccable and better than any other competitor on the market. It was delivered on time and brand new as promised so no problems there.I ended up buying a Milwaukee 16’ tape measure as well for the day to day tool belt tape measure as it has both sides marked and makes it easier for most applications. I do keep the Stanley in my tool box just for those odd times and odd jobs where it comes in handy.Overall quality - 5 starsOverall practicality - 1 starOverall rating - 3 stars

I love this tool. The most important is the two lenght, Metric and SAE.This is a hard case.

Sure, you can buy any other tape measure, but why not but the best.

The 32mm width of this 8m tape makes it, like other tapes this size, pretty heavy so it’s not going to sit in your pocket very easily. Having said that, the width gives it good throw and it will stay rigid for a good length. It has durability and accuracy you’d expect from Stanley and has quickly become my go to tape measure. If I was going to make a criticism it would be that the surface finish is very shiney and this can make it difficult to read in bright light. This may fade over time however. I’ve also seen other criticism that it can be reluctant to retract and this is true. Personally I like this though, my Komelon tape I lost which this replaces shot back so fiercely it almost took your eye out. The Stanley just needs a little shake to persuade it so there’s no need for safety gear.🤭

It's a great tape measure. Very strong and extends a good distance and is self supporting. Very happy and use it regularly.
