All Natural Cake Kit For Dogs

I was skeptical that my dogs would even try these cakes let alone eat them up. I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did Spice my 2 year old devoured it but even my picky girl Sugar ate the whole thing after we cracked it in half... it was like the frosting was something she didn't understand. It made for great video when they were trying to get it off of the roofs of their mouths...this made 4 mini loafs and would have made 8 cup cakes. The frosting set up great when I put them in the fridge on the plates after decorating. Would recommend for anyone who wants something special for their k9 friends but doesn't want to do it from scratch. Note not a real "people" cake... trust me I tasted the frosting and you would need to add SUGAR to both the cake and frosting before you could eat them. lol WHAT like you never tasted dog food!

Obviously this is for dogs so the flavor isn't going to be up to our tastes, but the dogs did seem to enjoy it. They didn't eat the whole thing, but they are picky so I wasn't surprised. Only one of my dogs liked the 'frosting' and I can tell you I did not like it at all! EEK!! But again this isn't meant for people.

I wasn't able to see the ingredients before buying this but it contains sugar which I try not to feed my dogs. Most dog cakes and treats don't have sugar because most people don't brush their dogs teeth as often as they should. If you don't brush your dogs teeth and you give them sugar you are setting yourself up for some dental issues.

I am cooking/baking challenged, but I wanted to make a birthday cake for one of my dogs. This was easy to make. I used a pie pan because I wanted a cake not cup cakes. The cake was thin, but it was a treat and didn't need to be thick. After I frosted it (and there was just enough frosting), I used KONG peanut butter stuffing like decorative frosting to write his name on it and added some little dog cookies. It turned out cute (made by someone like me who can burn water). We took it to his obedience class so he could have a little party. ALL the dogs (9 of them) LOVED it. Will definitely buy again.

I made mini cupcakes out of these for the three dogs in my family so they wouldn't be left out of enjoying Christmas cookies and desserts (yep, I'm a crazy dog aunt!). They absolutely LOVED them! Two of the dogs are shepherd mixes and one is a whippet mix, so they're all medium sized. A mini cupcake was the perfect treat size for them to eat in one bite. The smell of these is so weird while you're making them though! Like, you think of them as "cupcakes," and you expect the mix to smell sweet like vanilla or chocolate, and it actually smells like grass. Then the frosting smells like when you mix powdered milk with water, and I imagine it's basically the same concept. I baked these in the oven in a mini cupcake tin, and didn't need to use any paper liners or grease the pan or anything, they just popped right out when I ran a butter knife around them. I love that they're made in the USA, especially after reading reports of dogs getting sick from eating treats made overseas. I would definitely buy these again (I got them at Ollie's Bargain Outlet for $2!) and try some other K9Bakery products.
