Much better case than I thought when I ordered it
To start off, the Kestrel K4000 Carrying case seems like your average nylon belt fixture for the K4000 series, but it is beyond ordinary! Here are the features that make this little case a MUST BUY if you own a Kestrel K4000 series (this includes the Kestrel K4500) mobile weather tracker. There is a little hole in the front and back of the case in the exact shape of the crevice that contains vital sensors in the K4500 (the one I have). Paired with the K4500's invaluable ability to "wake up", collect data, and go back to "sleep", this hole allows the K4500 to collect data from the air that it is exposed to, as opposed to taking measurements from air that is trapped inside the case. The clip on the case is like nothing I have ever seen! The clip is such that it can either be clipped on your waist band (or any other piece of clothing for that matter, like the rim of a pocket) or you can feed your belt through it. You'll have a hard time letting this case slip off your person, with this loop in action. There is a tall loop on both the outside and the outside of the case. The one on the inside of the case can be used to store two AAA replacement batteries, so you don't miss out on vital data when your batteries run dead in the field! The use of the outside loop isn't revealed in the product description, but I believe it can be used to carry a pen via pocket clip to take notes in the field. The final feature is a small nylon loop on the back, towards the top of the case. Personally, I would feed para cord through it and attach it to the straps of my backpack if my belt was being covered by a large parka or rain coat. I suppose one could also make a necklace of para cord to fit the case onto... use your imagination! To sum it up, Pros: Very well made, I was rather surprised Innovative clip system for several uses Several versatile loops Exposes sensor of the K4500 to the outside air for accurate readings EDIT: Just found out the clip can pivot! Cons: Slightly expensive at $15, but is worth every penny in my opinion, especially if you already spent the $300 on the K4500

An absolutely mandatory accessory to your expensive Kestrel meter.
If you have a Kestrel meter, you need this case. It is very well designed, very rugged, and includes one of the best belt/strap clips I've ever seen on an accessory case. I've used the clip on my belt, the front of my backpack straps, on the front of my field vest, and on my field-notes kneeboard ... it is bombproof. The price of this case is also spot on ... which is interesting, because Kestrel robs you for two simple die-cut screen protectors for almost the same price! Other reviewers have spoken highly about the sensor cutout - it is a very useful design that allows the meter to continue to track ambient conditions instead of conditions inside of the case (which could be buffered or affected by its proximity to your body). I still have no idea as to the purposes of the two long elastic loops (one inside and one outside) - maybe for a pen, but certainly not to hold battery spares ... but hey, to me they are just lipstick on a pig and I love bacon, so, so be it.

Excellent cover for my Kestrel 5700 WEZ. Fits very well.

A little bit too small
Seems to be custom made for the kestrel but the buttons hang on the case when trying to remove it. I'm afraid it might damage or rip one off. I am going to try to stretch it out a bit to make it usable.

Safe and secure
The 5700 Elite fits perfect. This case attaches to my belt and I don't have to worry about putting it down somewhere and losing it. Plus the Kestrel is right there when I need it. Good purchase and reasonibly priced.

Great case for the Kestrel 4500
I purchased this for my new Kestrel 4500 as it only comes with a cloth "bag" to place it in. It has a sewn in hole for the sensors to function even when the unit is in the case. I just wish they had included a hard case with the 4500 just like my Kestrel 3000 came with. This makes it appear much more rugged, but with this case it should be just as resistent to damage. I would recommend this case for the Kestrel 4500.

Awesome case
I just came back from a trip to Europe where I used this case with my Kestrel 4500NV on a daily basis. I carried the Kestrel in the case clipped to my belt and it worked without any issues. The best part of this case is the belt clip which is very strong and solid (the downside is that it's not very easy to remove the case from your belt). Despite the fact that the case has a cutout in it to expose your Kestrel's thermometer you still need to remove the unit from the case to get an accurate temperature reading (I ended up hanging the unit around my wrist as I walked). Still, well worth the money.
