One-Piece Rings to Rule Them All! My Quest is OVER!
After spending most of a year fiddling with mounting solutions designed by Rube Goldberg (google him) for my Rem700VTR in .223Rem, I've finally found the ring mount which gets the scope low enough, strong enough to ensure accuracy, and back far enough to get proper eye relief for a Nikon M-223 2-8x32, BDC600 scope - the Game Reaper Rem700 Short Action One-Piece Rings!Finding the right scope mount system on a new rifle is part of the fun - let's be honest here - but when you finally get tired of quick release mounts on picatinny rail sections, yearning for a scope mount that sits at the right height so you don't have to add a cheek comb riser, and positions the scope so that no buttstock spacer is needed, look no further than one-piece mounts. I was dead-set on wanting to use that oh-so-attractive picatinny rail section ($40 wasted) to mount everything from red-dot sights (Trijicon Tri-Power), to ACOGs, to Phased-Plasma Rifles in the 40watt Range - and then finally came to realize that nothing works better than a dedicated optic that never comes off the rifle, never needs to be re-zero'd because you swapped it for no good reason, and never having to second guess whether it's sighted in at the moment.Quality and Mounting:This is a single component machined aluminum mount with both front and rear rings cut in a single operation. Not only does that sound cool, but more importantly it ensures that your scope is in perfect alignment when you slide it down onto the semi-circular mounting surfaces. With 2-piece mounts, any misalignment results in 'scope mount marks' i.e., scratches permanently on the sides of your scope and will induce torque on the tube when you shoot it which changes your point of impact with every shot. With this one-piece design, the scope sits evenly and the caps align smoothly and easily using minimal force until you start to crank on those Grade8 Socket Head Cap Screws (*don't forget your blue lock-tite first!). These only need between 20-25 INCH pounds of torque - NOTE to the Herp-Derps out there: this is not the same as POUND FEET of torque! The wrench supplied to fit those screws provides plenty of torque for the application and once your fingers start hurting, you're at or just beyond thread specification. All screw thread lengths were appropriate for the mount and ring caps - and I verified visually by looking through the bolt race when it was all set to go. Apply a little thread locker to the base of the mount where it fits the receiver and you'll get a little more insurance that it won't move if banged or dropped.Bolt handle clearance with my Badger Ordnance extended 'Mini' bolt handle is about perfect with just enough room to operate the bolt around the ocular lens without hitting your fingers/hand. The mount I ordered was the 'Low' version to match my 32mm objective lens on the Nikon M-223 scope which leaves plenty of room between objective bell and the rifle. Significantly shorter scopes or elongated chamber meat on your barrel might be an issue, but I'd feel comfortable putting a 40mm objective scope on the Low rings. Medium rings are meant for 40mm to 50mm objectives and High rings for anything over 50mm objective size. I've read that DNZ once offered an 'Extra Low' mount, but was unable to find that item sold anywhere - and I wanted my quest to be over.Scope height above bore is ideal for the VTR stock and won't require the use of a cheek comb riser to fit, with my eye coming right into the correct reticle distance with plenty of adjustment left to move the scope fore and aft. I recommend getting into your preferred shooting position and then having a friend move the scope forward and back until you get a nice clear sight picture all the way out to the edges of the glass. Too close, and you get a lot of shadow around the clear, sharp image - too far away, and you get foggy edge clarity.Shooting:Don't know yet because I haven't had it out to the range, but a quick laser bore-sight lined up the scope to the bore for the first range trip and required only a few clicks of elevation and windage to match the laser to the BDC600 reticle. I'm certain it will be on paper in those first few shots.Final Impression:Amazon offers this part at a greatly reduced cost even compared to ordering directly from DNZ (a savings of about $30!). While the name 'Game Reaper' is missing a few exclamation points in it's marketing the mount is solid, well built, nicely designed with smooth contours and little excess to hang up or scratch yourself or other equipment. It's a simple design and well-executed to get the job done, and I can finally move onto other 'projects' now that this problem has been solved. Good luck, whatever you choose,

Rem700 varmint low rings 50mm scope
Scope rings all have different heights, regardless of the low, med, high aspect. Whether Talley, Warne, or DNZ. I highly suggest you do your research and see which is going to give you what you want. Also scopes are all different, not every 50mm fits the same or has the same overall diameter. With that out the way, I had Warne med qd rings on my Remington 700 varmint rifle with a Meopro 4.5-14x50 and had spare space. I tried Warne low rings but it was touching the barrel. A quick search for ring heights and the DNZ was in between the other two measurements in low, so I purchased. And just as I wanted I have low rings with a 50mm objective and a tiny amount of space between the barrel, just like I wanted.

Use this with a Burris Fullfield 2 Model Scope 3-9x40mm Optic
This can be used with a 40mm optic bell diameter to keep your optic low and a good stock cheek weld for a natural point and shoot aspect in your hunting rifle. Make sure you coat the bottom with blue loctite and it is free from oil / grease before mounting on top of your rifle's receiver. Put a dab on your mounting bolts and it will set after you tighten it down to create a solid "zero" movement mount that is engineered right without any inconsistency in optic alignment. For your scope ring screws- coat the threads with clear nail polish so if you have to remove the optic- you can but at the same time- no bolt will "wiggle" loose under any recoil. It works wonderfully and keeps things simple.Cons: none- Cons would be if you didn't buy it and went with a cheap two piece mount.Bottom LIne: to achive optimal accuracy- you need a solid foundation for your optic. This with some blue loctite and clear nail polish is the best solution to achieve small groups from your hunting rifle- cost effective approach.

Fantastic 1-piece mount
Installation was simple and easy. No alignment, no lapping, no fuss Spacing of the rings made getting the right eye relief a snap. The Game Reaper low mount is at least 1/16" lower than Remington 2-piece low mounts. My 40mm Nikon scope (48.9 mm OD) sits about 5/32" above the barrel and zeroed quickly with minimal adjustment thanks to the Game Reaper. Thanks DNZ!

DNZ Game Reaper scope mounts w/ photos
I have this mounted on a Remington 700 SPS Tactical rifle with a heavy barrel chambered in .223 Rem with a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44 scope on it. I wanted the scope as close to the barrel as possible without touching and this mounts fits the ticket. I have about 1/8" of clearance which is just enough to turn the parallax adjustment. I eventually plan to put a Leupold Mark AR MOD 1 6-18x40 mm so I should have a bit more clearance between the scope bell and rifle barrel, but for now it works great. My best guess is this set-up would not work with a scope that has a 50 mm bell, unless you mounted it on a rifle with a standard barrel.

well made and solid
bought a DNZ 1" 1-piece low mount to use on a 700 tactical .223.the gun has a bull barrel so had to make sure a low mount would clear the 44mm non-AO scope bell that was going on it.I had an AO bell scope that measured 53mm to make some approximations before I ordered.I ended up with about 4mm to spare using the 4x16x44 scope.the 1-piece mount does take some of the room you have to load ammo but does not hinder reloading at all.the one thing a 1-piece mount hinders is the ability to slide the scope back and forth for proper eye relief (usually sliding backwards because where the bell starts to widen will hit the forward ring), I had no problem with the scope I bought but it is something to think about.measure twice, buy once. DNZ has a measurement/application guide.

It actually works!
My groups are actually smaller now with this mount. The only thing I changed was the mount with a surprising improvement in my shot group consistency.

No hassle scope mounting.
With over fifty years experience in such matters I must say this is the way to mount a scope. After mounting the scope mount to my Remington 700 I made sure the scope was set at mechanical zero and mounted it. The scope was zeroed after a correction of two down three right. Every rifle I own now has this system on them.
