Way better than other fitness trackers
This is a great watch for your big kid. We had used other fitness trackers, but they were hard to sync and the battery was always dying. This is waterproof, easy to use, and you can change the battery yourself! Our 8 year old loves this, and we love that he can keep track of time and steps.

Loved it but it dislodged from the watch band and now lost
My daughter LOVES her watch, it tracks her steps and easy for her to tell time. UNFORTUNATELY, she was playing soccer and somehow the watch popped out of the watch band. She has lost it on the soccer field and like a needle in a haystack it’s lost forever😭😭😭😭 So frustrating that the band came loose. Wondering if she had been fiddling with it and stetched it slightly so the watch wasn’t sitting in a fitted capsule anymore. I’d love a replacement from the company to remedy the loss.

Good kid activity tracker, but be prepared - display is dim
The display is quite dim with no backlight on compared to most wearables, but - it goes much longer on a battery (1 year of battery life) and it is for kids, so it is better for low-light environments. All other features are really nice, activity/sleep tracking work well and game elements added are inspiring kids to exercise more.

The battery lasts a year!
The positives: The battery life is LONG - like a year! it's the only watch I've found for kids that doesn't need to be charged and keeps going. The size is just right for kids under 11/12. Bigger than than they start to need something a bit larger. The rubber band is strong and doesn't rip easily, however, I've had to replace this watch a couple of times because on occasion, the watch piece will just fly out. Sometimes we can find it, and sometimes we cant. So that is less than ideal. The app is pretty user friendly, it syncs via bluetooth. I can set alarms and reminders, but you have to also re-sync the watch with the app, or else your watch will keep that alarm and reminder for perpetuity! Overall, a great option for a watch for a kid. Nothing else I've found has the functionality and the year long battery power.

Great watch for kids!
I bought this for my 6 year old. I was hesitant because of all the reviews complaining about how dark the screen is. The screen is a bit dark but it has not been a problem for us. I think it keeps him from getting distracted by it and he can hold the button to make it bright if needed. We love all the features, from chore tracking and rewards to activity points to the game.

My 8 year old LOVES this watch!
My 2nd grader asked for a watch for months but I was having a hard time deciding what to buy. One of her friend's has this one and my daughter liked the way it looked, so I went for it. Yes, it's a bit on the pricier side for an 8 year old, but this is the perfect first watch! Aside from telling time, my daughter's favorite features are the step counter, the timer, and the ability to earn coins by doing chores that I can set up via the app. She has been wearing it almost 24/7 (including during swim practice and showers) for two months without any issues. Now she wants to change out the band and try other colors, which is a neat option. Highly recommend this watch!

Product stopped working after one month of use
My son got this watch for Christmas. He takes it off for baths, so I know water damage shouldn’t be the issue. We tried replacing the battery as well. But the device just will not turn on. It’s a blank screen and makes no sounds. It’s like it just died. We have owned the earlier versions of the vivofit, and had no issues. Super disappointing because we are now out of the return window.

Game-Changer for Getting Kids Moving — But We Had A Faulty Watch
We bought the Garmin vívofit jr. for both our sons (5 and 7 years old). Our 7-year-old has been using his since Christmas, and 2.5 months in it is still a game changer for keeping him active and motivated. After seeing how much his older brother loved it, our 5-year-old used a Christmas voucher to buy one on Amazon (he wanted the same watch but in blue). He has only been using his for about a month. Overall, the concept is fantastic. We had previously struggled to motivate our youngest (5-year-old) to be more active, but the step goals, challenges and reward coins have worked really well. The game element keeps him engaged and excited to move more. For kids around 5–9 years old, it’s a brilliant idea. We also like that there are no games directly on the watch, so wearing it to school isn’t distracting. The game progression comes from activity, which is a great design choice. It would be helpful if kids could see and tick off chores on the watch, but you can’t do that on this device it just shows the task icon but everything needs to be done on the app. Instead we use a physical checklist and then add coins in the app at the end of the day. This also helps us avoid handing over a phone constantly, especially when trying to set boundaries around devices. Another design point relates to the active minutes required to unlock game stages. Our 5 year old son sometimes works hard to reach the 60 active minutes, but if he achieves it close to bedtime and doesn’t unlock the stage before sleep, the progress disappears. For younger kids this can be very upsetting and easily trigger meltdowns at bedtime and the next day after realising they’ve worked hard for something for nothing. Ideally and developmentally, once earned, the stage should remain available until it’s unlocked. For families with multiple kids, it would also help if each child profile had its own access code. At the moment if one child has the phone they can change their sibling’s watch settings or play stages the other child earned. Unfortunately, our 5-year-old’s watch developed a problem after only 3–4 weeks. It turned itself off overnight and wouldn’t turn back on. This seemed unusual given the watch is marketed with up to a 1-year battery life. When it randomly turned back on later, most features had disappeared — coins, steps, ICE and challenges were no longer visible, leaving only time, active minutes, timer and sync (which also doesn’t work because the will no longer pair with the app). There are no troubleshooting steps in the manual for this issue, so we’ll likely contact Amazon for a replacement. Importantly, our older son’s watch has had none of these issues and continues to work perfectly. The only other feature we’d love is GPS tracking, which would make it even more useful for parents. Overall: a fantastic concept that genuinely motivates kids — only marking low because this purchased product failed. Hoping reliability and a few design tweaks improve over time for budget of $150-$200 and a long lasting battery that doesn’t require kids having to take on/off for charging.

Great product
I have 2 of these for my kids and also bought one for a present. Best watch in market for kids.

Not having another thing to recharge is the best, I don't care if it stops working after one year.
I am a big fan of not having to re-charge my kids' activity tracker and have zero regrets with this purchase. It is much easier to read the display (compared to viv0fit jr 2) and we really only use it for steps and telling the time. I love that he can keep it on when sleeping, in the bath, at swim lessons etc.
