So Good!!
(I both read and did audio with this book I had to split it this go round due to personal happenings.) The book reads so smooth I expect nothing less from a Eva Chase book. I had no idea I was getting close to the end I was so engrossed in it. It ends in a way where you can either stop with this first book or continue on. Wonderfully well written and steamy story, I can't wait to see what happens in the next one, I'm going to continue the series. Like I said it's a smooth read and also very easy to listen to, if I had a critique it would be I wish that the guy voice over did the mens voices throughout. That wasn't enough for me to take away any stars.(by the way I don't know if any of you guys are gargoyles fans, the old '90s cartoon, but the guy that does the reading sounds exactly like Goliath. So hot🔥!!)This book does not hesitate to get you right into the action I mean that both ways take that pun and run with it 😂, which is what I asked for when I was looking for book recommendations. I needed something light, steamy and action packed, something distracting, but good. It doesn't disappoint. Eva Chase if you haven't read anything of hers before, has a really good way of getting you into her stories and allowing her characters to fall in love in a good enough pace to where it's not only believable, but she also allows for there to be honest relationships. Unlike some RH authors that just care about the physical but don't even approach that realistically. Everything I read about her RH is something I could envision happening because she builds her characters into the relationship instead of building the relationship into the characters if that makes sense. It's wonderful and makes reading everything a pleasure, instead of some of the train wrecks I have read in the past. I truly appreciate her vision in this as it brings the fantasy more to life. I really hope that makes sense. I can't wait to read the rest of her books. Definitely worth the buy!!

Great beginner
I definitely enjoyed this first book. There's a lot of action and I'm excited that the fmc is strong and snarky. I absolutely adore snap and his wonder about everything. Ruse is such a smooth talker and so laid back. Then there is thorn the huge stoic muscle man who doesn't laugh at anything but shows signs of fondness for sorsha which is just perfect lol I'm excited to continue on this journey and see what happens with the new character!

Outstanding Story!!!!!!
A fantastic read. I loved Sorsha and her feisty attitude. Her songs are hilarious. Thorn, Ruse, and Snap together have these amazing, different personalities that just meshed together perfectly. Snap with his child-like enthusiasm for everything that he see is amazing breath of fresh air. Ruse and his charm just bleeds off the pages. Thorn with his grumpy, stoic demeanor just yells protection. The story has a ton of action, drama, and suspense. It keeps you glued to it and doesn’t let go. This is absolutely a must read.

The book is great... but skip the audio!
I chose this book in Kindle & opted for whispersync/audio also, because I've been too busy to sit still & read a book from beginning to end lately. I love being able to toggle back & forth. I really did enjoy this book, but the narration drove me nuts. Aiden Snow did a nice job on narration, but the weird accent that Vanessa Moyen gave Thorn was super annoying. In the beginning of the book, when Thorn's character was introduced, it was said that "His voice came out deep and gravelly" & "Thorn’s formal way of speaking and outfit of tunic and trousers suggested any significant time he’d spent here had been a few eras ago". That was in no way how Vanessa portrayed Thorn. What really drove me crazy though, was that while Vanessa portrayed Thorn with the weird & annoying accent... Aiden portrayed Thorn with no accent. It sounded deep & formal, the way you would expect from the description. I don't know how in the world this uber oops was overlooked. I personally think that a male narrator should follow the lead of the female narrator, when portraying the female characters. & the female narrator should follow the lead of the male narrator, when portraying the male charachters. Is it not normal for both narrators to have a sample, prior to the start of production, when producing dual narration? Ugh! I sure hope they figure this out before the second book. I really did enjoy the book. But I found myself waiting until I could actually read the Vanessa chapters in Kindle & then only listening to Aiden's narrated chapters... which wasn't convenient, nor what I had planned :(

Really good so far
Decided to start listening to this series using Whispersync. Not a big fan of the narrators (the female narrator seems to think raspy whispering of the song lyrics somehow counted as singing) and the guy didn’t vary his voices enough to tell which of the guys was speaking. But the story itself is pretty interesting so far.I admit, half of what I love about this book is Snap. He’s adorable! I just can’t get enough of characters like him. He is so fascinated with everything around him, and adores Sorcha pretty fiercely once he gets closer to her. The other characters are interesting as well, though the jury is still out on Omen. I am worried he is going to ruin the good dynamic the group had.I do feel like it is a little aimless. They don’t seem to have a major end goal so much as an endless task before them.

3 1/2 stars, good series start
Thoughts: I had trouble getting into this book, but enjoyed it once it picked up. The spice level was way too low for a monster RH, IMHO. I loved Snap and look forward to seeing his character development. Ruse is a bit predictable, but a likable character. Thorn needs his back story explained for me to determine my thoughts on him. Overall I’m vacillating between 3 1/2 & 4 stars, leaning towards 3 1/2 because of the low spice content. I’ll read the next in the series starting after my book club meets so I don’t get confused. Only two 🌶️🌶️ for spice content.

Oh em geee
I wasnt sure what I was expecting when I grabbed this book. Probably something about monsters and fighting the good fight. This was all that, and more. The action was good. The interactions between the characters was intriguing. The hints of stuff still to discover is very much urging me to get the next book. And the spice was just right.Really enjoyed.

Loved it
I seriously loved everything about this book. I love the world building, the shadowkind and I have quite a few theories as to what will happen next. Sorsha is an amazing FMC but I have to say Snap totally stoleMy heart. Not that the other guys aren’t amazing too but he’s just so sweet you want to put him in your coffee or something. I’m super excited to see what will happen next

Great
Loads of action, great characters. Relationships building nicely, with some heat and some slow burn. Seems like there's still plenty to reveal yet about the MC. Thoroughly enjoyed this; although I could nitpick about the MC's supposed burglary skills, I'm not going to, I'm just going to move right on to the next book.
