Good, basic, beginning hammer.
Great one pound hammer, perfect for the beginning jewelry metal stamper. The handle is hand sized, so it is not as bulky as larger ones. The striking head is large enough that even if you don't strike dead center, it makes a flush strike. I normally use a smaller handle, so I was worried about the size of this one, but I should not have been, it has a great grip. I would say this is the perfect hammer for the beginning metal jewelry stamper.

excellent choice for a beginner; well-made and effective for stamping and work-hardening of wire
I am getting into wire work and metal stamping for jewelry making. I have a rubber hammer but it is only OK for some work hardening of wire. I wanted a more substantial hammer for stamping and wire work, so I bought this.I find this to be a high quality item, first of all. The head is heavy and brass and it is attached quite securely to the handle. The handle is fairly large in diameter (not too long), but not too big for my tiny hands. (I am a small-boned woman.) I would strongly suggest using it in combination with an anvil or steel bench block (I have a steel bench block) so you don't damage your work table. Both the handle and the head are in great shape with no scratches and nice surfaces. This does flatten wire when you hammer it to work harden (so if you don't want flat wire, go with a rubber mallet instead). I like the look of what it does with wire, so I get a lot of use out of it that way. (For what it's worth, I am sticking to copper wire. I decided to pick one metal -- not the most expensive one -- and learn all about it instead of trying a bunch of different ones. I am using both bare copper wire and color coated copper "artistic wire" for wire work, mostly larger gauges like 16-20 with this hammer.) It takes some practice to get things right, but that is the same with any new skill.I have also started using this for stamping copper blanks. The results you get depend on a couple of things, including the thickness of the copper blank and the intricacy of the stamp (simple circles are easier than leaves, vines, animals, etc.). But so far, this hammer has enabled me to hit the stamps with enough force to make the impressions I want. (I don't have any kind of training, I just bought supplies and went to work, so I apologize if my terminology is off.) It also doesn't damage the stamps. (Most of mine are from ImpressArt so probably they are designed to work together.)

easy to use
cute, easy to use, can't say that it really made a difference in stamping though but that just may be user struggle

Nice weight and feel
I'm brand new to metal stamping and this hammer was super easy to use. I made personalized necklaces for our daughter's volleyball team using aluminum 1" Round w/hole blanks and 5/8" Rectangle Tags. It took me a few blanks to get the hang of where to place the stamps and how hard / soft to hit them with the hammer, but I got the hang of it. The stamps were of different depth, which made it necessary to tap/whack with harder or lighter strength and the hammer was a great weight and the shorter handle made it easy to have that control. I used a black sharpie pen to darken the impressions and wiped the excess away with alcohol on a cotton pad. Would recommend.

Yes
It works amazing for stamping but I’ll admit I use it as my hammer for everything now. The grip and the perfect pressure. I know that’s probably not what you’re supposed to do with it but this is the ultimate hammer in general. Gets the job done easier than any hammer you’ve ever held. Promise

Compact and easy to control your strikes.
Very nicely balanced. The small handle provides a more accurate strike. It looks good too!The brass (?) head seems to dent when striking a stamp, but I expect that is because brass (or the material the head is made of) is softer than the hardened steel stamps. Still, I enjoy using this tool and would purchase again if and when it wears down to the point of needed replacement; therefore I am rating this with five stars.
