Well I don't know if this will answer your question. I bought a bucket with no handles about 7" diameter from Dollar Tree, and a PVS piece of tube a little bit wider than the umbrella tube from Lowe's, poor cement in bucket w/tube center, use a level to make sure the tube is straight, and let it dry for a day or so. This gave the stability I need it, it might work for you also. In high wind make sure keep umbrella close.

Is this table sturdy and do you need to put some type of additional coating for protection or to help it last longer???

Hi, Yes, is quite sturdy. It will seat 1-3 adults of 150-200 pounds comfortably. As you can see from the picture, one side of the table has the bench legs on the ground, while the other side is braced to the table legs, making it weaker in my opinion. Four children+ depending on age will be comfortable. As a bench, 2 adults would be fine. I gave mine 2 coats of an outdoor type preserver which let water to bead up rather than soak into the wood. It is a good quality table. We use it for ourselves (2 seniors) and our grandchildren.

Is there any way of having an abbreviated version of this made; say 12 to 14 inchea narrowed? Thanks....
