Check the level of each ball relative to the top edge of each bell piece.
On a walk through the Japanese gardens here in PDX, I saw a set of these in their gift shop. Being Amazon loyal, I checked online when I got home and found the same set for a bit less. Once I received them, they were hung and seemed to work find. Until...g/f mentioned that we were only getting one tone from them.I took a look and figured out two things: The clappers on the top two tiers were hanging too low to make contact on the bell. Once I took the string apart, I also found that the balls - which had a small hole at one end and a smaller hole at the opposite end - had (at least to my mind) been strung upside down with the larger hole facing downward. This allowed the clapper balls to slip too far down the string to make correct contact with the body of the bell.A few minutes with my fat fingers working on unstringing the tiny knots, then turning the balls to the correct orientation and restringing/reknotting them and all was good to go. The chime makes a beautiful sound and and all is well.

One-Note Wonder
This is a very attractive chime, but one note seems to play 90% of the time. It’s come to feel like I have a lunatic living in my yard who likes to jam out on his triangle when it gets windy. It’s seriously driving me crazy. I’ve tried to figure out why that one chime gets the bulk of the action, but I can’t. I may have to disassemble it and try to tweak it to sound better, or let it drive the folks at the dump nuts instead of me.I have a better Woodstock chime that I enjoy, but I cheaped out on my second. Serves me right, I guess. DING! DINGLE-ING! DING! Disappointing.

Excellent choice for a non-obtrusive sounding chime!
These have got to be the prettiest sounding wind chimes ever. They are VERY delicate and subtle sounding -- they are not "in your face" clanging. We just wanted something pleasant in the yard for 'background' noise. Other chimes that we had in the past we just crazy loud. These are made well, and come with instructions on how to re-string them should you need to after a while --- all wind chimes will eventually fall prey to the wind, and come apart in areas that are rubbed by blowing in the wind (a natural thing to happen when dealing with something as unpredictable as the wind -- we must replace our American Flag every two years or so, because the wind takes it's toll - so don't be alarmed if these will eventually have frayed string. It's an easy fix, that will keep these chimes in your yard for MANY years to come! Very pleased with them -- we got two and may buy more for the front yard now!

String was frayed
I bought this cute chime for a friend's birthday. When she opened it she noticed the string was crossed so the chime wouldn't hang properly. I had to untie the string (knots) and restring it correctly. Before I did that I noticed the string was frayed. Was this product used? It was very disappointing since it was a gift. Your reviews were good, so I am confused too.

I love these. The tone is nice and not the ...
These are a replacement set for the same thing I bought many years ago but were destroyed in a wind storm. I love these. The tone is nice and not the clanging you hear on many windchimes. They just look nice too. I had them hanging in a willow shrub so there was a lot of singing from the chimes as the branches moved. When the willow was cut down I hung them from a metal shepherds hook. It doesn't make as much noise, so if you want more sound from them hang from a branch or a plant that has a lot of movement. But it doesn't take much wind to move the copper weight at the bottom and make them sing.

I like the delicate sound a lot
The main thing that gives this a 3-star rating for me is that they are not copper-colored in any way. Some of the bells have a slight copper tinge towards the bottom, but overall these are more antique/greybronze and dark in color. That being said, I like the delicate sound a lot, so will not be returning them, even though they look nothing like the picture (as far as copper color).

Beautiful chimes
The temple chimes come in a nice giftable box. But for $40 I expected better craftsmanship. There is a fray in one of the strings and some sort of error on one of the chimes. In order to save time and energy I will not return them, as these errors to not affect the working item. They do have a lovely sound and will look nice in the garden.

Woodstock chimes are a joy
Woodstock chimes are so amazing. Never fail to bring joy and the manufacturers are fabulous to deal with if there's ever an issue. Highly recommend. One nicer than the other. Fab...

Beautiful to look at and delicate sounding
Beautifully made - delicate and attractive to look at. The sound is beautiful too - not too overpowering and loud as some chimes are. I find the sound of gentle chimes calming and these are the best I have ever owned. I don't know how they would fair in a very windy location, but that is not a problem where we intend to position them.

Beautiful
If you already have windchimes, these are a great addition to any garden, they have a softer tone than regulat chimes and are very pretty.

Lovely sound, well packaging, fast delivery, plenty of literature to read with. I am thinking of getting another one soon!

don't last !
I bought this product in january 2018.At first, they produced a very relaxing sound and were very beautiful. However, after having these in the garden, they have rusted completely; dulling the sound and now lacking the appeal to look at.Disappointed is an understatement
