How does the water drain out of the bottom - there doesnt appear to be an opening?

As far as can see there is an opening on top and underneath so water can flow easily through it

Can this be used outside for a patio?

Hi, I used this for a patio as I wanted a clean level finish. I’m not sure if this is the correct use for this but I requested that my hubby made it suitable for the gutter down pipe to drain away and it’s worked a treat and really completes the look. I get the odd build up of moss or that from the gutters but with regular maintenance cleaning, it’s not an issue at all.
