An excellent shoe
My employer has started mandating that we all must wear slip-resistant shoes. So, I started researching slip-resistant shoes and what better place to start said research than Amazon. My first choice was Dr. Martens. But, for some dumb reason, Dr. Martens does not make a shoe in the half-size. WHY WOULD A SHOE MAKER OMIT HALF THE WORLD'S POPULATION FROM BUYING THEIR SHOES BU NOT MAKING SHOES IN HALF SIZES? This being said, I did narrow my search to two shoes: The Caterpillar Ridgemont and the Timberland PRO Titan Soft-Toe Lace Up. The Ridgemont was a about $12 less expensive, but there was a review that said the shoe had issues when wearing orthotics (I need orthotics). It was also available in black, my preferred color. The Titan had better Amazon overall reviews and no one listed issues with orthotics, but was not available in black. I ended up choosing the Titan because I liked it's looks, expect to have no issues with orthotics, and because of the better reviews. I have to say that I am thrilled with my decision. This shoe is COMFORTABLE. And I feel very confident when walking on wet or slippery floors. The leather is very soft and supple. Maybe too much so. A slight drawback is the shoe shows scuffs very easily...maybe because the leather is so soft. At work, where I am on my feet every minute of an 8-hour day, my feet are not worn, tired, or sore by day's end. And, because my feet are comfortable at the end of the work day, I am not all worn out and tired at the end of the day, either. My only concern is durability. With them scuffing up so easily, I hope they don't fall apart quickly. I am assuming that the uppers are genuine leather and will hold up over time. And, if so, I will be extremely happy. I love these shoes. They are the best, most comfortable work shoes I have ever had on my feet. I highly recommend the Timberland PRO Titan Soft Toe Lace-Up Shoe. UPDATE Well, it's been about 2 1/2 years with these shoes and I still like these shoes. One issue has developed. A hole has developed the upper of the right shoe. It started about 2 years after I purchased them. I didn't know what to do about it, so I just put a little dab of glue to cover the hole. I have to do this about once a week. The hole has been getting bigger and I decided to purchase some Timberland PRO Men's Stockdale Grip Max OX Alloy Toe Work and Hunt Boots. I thought I'd try these...just because. The Pro Titans were an excellent shoe. They were comfortable and lasted 2 1/2 years. Not bad. Just wish the uppers were a little more durable. The soles still show little wear and look like they can easily go another 2 1/2 years.

A real work shoe for Salesman in the field
As an industrial salesman I spend a lot of time traveling rushing through airports and stand for long periods either in a convention or on concrete shop floors. I have poor knees and recent surgery. I tried keen, mephisto, and rockport. On one hand you want cushion, but also need support. I have owned the Timberland titan pro boot for my work shop for over 10 years. They are great. So, I decided to try the oxford version (soft toe). Also, my choice for footwear is limited since I wear size 15 for most imported shoes. The timberland are size 14 M and there is plenty of room ! After wearing them for the past 3 days, my knees do not hurt. I will say that unlike most oxfords, the ankle portion in higher up. It takes some getting used to, but they will break in. I like that they are higher, it prevents scraps from falling in your shoe. Lots of toes soCe. I can wear a thicker sock or add a better insole. Excellent shoes. They are made in China. But, in my opinion, these are better than my Mephisto which cost $ 450 made in Portugal.

Comfortable shoes! Durable!
Time to order another pair. The current pair is about 5 years old. Worn daily in all weather conditions, outdoors, at work, digging holes, walking miles through road ditches, these shoes hold up, and are very comfortable. I've never experienced any kind of discomfort. This will be the third pair, each lasting about the same! Yes, for the last year of wear, I've glued the sole back on, and done other minor maintenance. But now the leather is cracking and tearing. Best shoe I've ever worn Thanks!

If these ever wear out I'll probably buy them again but I don't think that will be for several years.
These are good shoes. I work as a mechanic in a shop with a smooth concrete floor and lots of goo on the floor. My feet get sore easily so I'm pretty picky and they have met my standards. These are the things I look for: The collar doesn't cause any ankle pain. The tread doesn't pick up too much junk. The eyelets are metal so that the laces can pull tight easily. The sole stays attached to the shoe (so far). This is a big problem in a car repair shop. The chemicals tend to unglue shoes. Not these. The foot bed below the insole is flat. Lots of shoes curl the leather under but don't fill in the depression in the middle of the foot bed. These don't have that problem. The insole is for real, not like so many others that turn to mush in a day or two. This is almost an orthotic insole. They look nice. Ok, they are work shoes, not dancing shoes but they do look decent. My feet tend to get hot. These haven't had the problem so far. I don't like shoes with lots of padding. They aren't really light but they are lighter than some. They are light enough while being substantial. The soles grip well in the worst conditions. Many supposedly oil and slip resistant shoes get mighty slick on smooth concrete if there is even the hint of oil or water. Not these. I have yet to have a problem with grip. I presume if I step on a big glob of grease on the floor they couldn't grip through that but so far they have held on over everything else. I'm really sensitive to this issue. Some people seem to think that lots of tread pattern equals grip bit it isn't so. Look at the soles on these. They have very few tread lines but the grip like mad. I have done nothing to water proof these boots because they don't need it. I've been in water and slush this winter and even the seams haven't leaked. Very impressive to me. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because they are too wide. I got the narrowest ones in my length and they are still a little loose side to side.

VERY SATIFIED!
I've owned many Timberline shoes (Mostly Boat or Deck) but this is the first Timberline work shoe. I am a machinist and spend a lot of time on my feet so it's necessary for me to have comfortable shoes as well as ones that don't slip on an oily or wet area. I ordered these shoes in size 11 med which is 1/2 size larger than my normal size of 10 1/2 med which may have been a bit on the tight side. They fit perfectly with enough room in the to box so as not to crowd my toes. They are extremely comfortable all day long and the padding along the tongue and rim of the shoe make a big difference in the comfort. As usual, the quality is excellent!

Reasonably Priced Comfort...
I spend a lot of time on my feet, generally on hard surfaces 8-10 hours per day and I'm always looking for a pair of work shoes (or boots) that don't leave my feet aching at the end of the day. While I'll gladly pay a bit more for comfort, these Timberland Pro Titan's meet both of those needs - comfort and a reasonable price. Fit is true to size and there was little to no break-in period. The only unknown is durability but after a couple of months of wear, they seem to be holding up well. These may be replacing my beloved Keens as my go-to work shoe! It's now June 2018 (I bought the Titan's in September 2017) and I've worn them 6-7 days a week, 8-10 hour shifts per day. Unfortunately I think they have reached the end of their useful life. While the leather and soles have held up, I think whatever cushioning is built into the shoe simply wears out or maybe more accurately compresses to the point that it no longer does its job. Time for a new pair...

Buy Older version if still available!
My husband’s all time favorite shoes. Bought originall for role as construction exec where steel toes are often required. There is a newer version of this shoe that is obviously a cheap-down version. He has worn through 3 prior pairs. If they have your size. Buy the original now! Cheap one has a wavy lace holder & behind the heel leather does not wrap around to sides of feet. They run true to size.

Amazing Timberlands
These timberlands are incredibly comfortable right out of the box. They offer support throughout the entire foot and are stylish to wear either in clinic or out to eat and casual enough to go to other functions socially
