Great purchase
Had this thing for almost 3 years now. Granted I don't fish a ton, but the rod is still great, easily catching catfish and more. Def would recc

Was a problem but company fixed
Love the pole. Reel not so much. Used 4 times, hairline fracture in reel, never dropped or abused. was over a month and Amazon wouldn't exchange or refund. Then the Richcat company came to rescue and replaced for free! Great company with solid gear!

You really get a lot for your money here
OK this isn't a thousand-dollar rig and I probably wouldn't use this as my main setup if I wasn't traveling. But this is WAY nicer than you'd expect a "travel" right to be. Most collapsible rods suck - either the sections don't fit well or they're too lightweight to be useful, whatever it is. This rod is very solid and has lots of little details even some non-travel rods don't have, like the ferrules have a really nice rainbow-color anodizing on them, the reel mounting ring has a secondary locking screw so it doesn't work loose, and that ring has little decorative dots milled into it, etc. It's honestly very artistic and way nicer than I expect - not a picasso, but not Walmart either. The reels has nice touches as well. The handle is wood rather than plastic, and milled against the grain so it has a nice pattern. It also folds, which a lot of cheap reels don't bother with. Being preloaded with line wasn't really necessary but does save 5 minutes so there's that. The tension setting has a pretty wide range and worked well, and there's a free-spool toggle on it which is super nice if you want to wade in, cast, then walk back out of the surf without moving your set. This kit does come with a clip-on bell but I set that aside. It's so sensitive that it just rings constantly if there's even a slight breeze. And there's a telescoping rod holder which was more or less totally useless. It's too short and too thin to hold anything. But let's be honest, every kit you buy online these days has "the thing you wanted" and "some other stuff thrown in." It's not really important if the "other stuff" is any good as long as the thing you wanted is... My only complaint so far is that the fit of the reel's spool to the reel body is a little close for my taste. It gets crunchy easily if you get any sand blowing around while you're fishing. It's easy to clean but i personally prefer surf feels to have a bit wider tolerances in that area. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

Best Value Telescopic Fishing Rod and Reel Combo – Strong, Smooth Casting & Travel-Friendly
This telescopic fishing rod and reel combo is an incredible value for the price. The rod feels heavy-duty and well-built, and it looks fantastic. It’s compact and easy to carry, yet extends to a great length when in use. Casting is smooth and effortless. I absolutely love it and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, portable fishing setup.

Easy to transport but no grip.
This rod and reel combo is a compact and provides a transportable catfish rig. It is easy to set up and the rod stays sturdy when fully extended. There is no grip on the handle so it gets slippery when my hands are sweaty and damp.

Best Telescopic I’ve ever had
I watched a video and read all the reviews but had to test it myself. First time at Redondo Beach Pier it held a stingray, my friend grabbed the pole and asked how much can it handle and I said I don’t know I just bought it! Held it good and the line is a 20 lb test. Took it to Malibu Pier and pulls up 3 fish no worries. Then to Marina Del Rey bait dock and pull bonitos, barracudas and big smelt so easy. I own a lot of poles but for some reason this is my favorite. Smooth reel and strong and I would suggest anyone to get this and see for yourself. It’s also very sensitive to feel so it’s easier for me than my deep sea to feel but I use both just to maximize my fishing game lol I bought it for travel bc it’s small enough to pack. I also clean the scales off every time after a day of fishing, don’t want it to mess with packing it in My friends spend hundreds of dollars on reels and poles and I catch more most of the time 😉 I think I’m gonna buy another bc it’s so great to work with plus the extended pole under my armpit helps when I’m fighting a fish

Not for Saltwater
I bought this for a trip to the Alabama coast for surf fishing. When I got it I almost returned it. It felt cheaper than expected. I gave it a try one day, making sure to keep saltwater off of it, and rinsed it afterwards. The next day it was stuck completely and the handle wouldn't turn. I didn't have this issue with my budget freshwater rods. In general, the rod handle feels cheap and slippery. The reel mount feels very cheap and insecure. The reel looks and feels cheap. When seeing what I could buy locally and a certain big box retailer of general goods, I quickly regretted the purchase, but gave it a shot. After it locked up, while my other reels didn't, I returned it.

Medium-Heavy travel rod
Great for travel! I’ve had it in a carry on, with it just barely sticking out of the zipper. medium-heavy action, very stout for a telescoping.
