My stylist could only wish to cut hair that good every time
I've been using one for about 10 years now. I've saved hundreds of dollars from going to a hair stylist for cutting my hair. It really is unbelievable how well it works, by pulling up the hair and perfectly cutting each hair. My stylist could only wish to cut hair that good every time. For me it only took a few times to learn and be able to cut my own hair perfect every time. For myself I only increase the length 3 times working it side to side while I work my way to the back of the head and comes out perfect in about 5 minutes. It always comes out looking the same every time, better than my stylist. Once you figure out the technique its easy. I had the older cutter for 10 yrs, the one you hook up to the vacuum, and still works by the way, I finally had to try this new unit with the vacuum together and I have to say I tip my hat to Robocut what a nice unit. I was worried about the strength of the vacuum with the compact unit, It has plenty of power and now save hookup time with this all in one unit. I have no problem unhooking the bottom filter cover as I read others have and seems to me that would be a minor thing compared to the benefit of saving hundreds of dollars over the years. An example, I use to get my hair cut about once a month at $20 plus $5 tip. If you just take the $20 x 12 months is $240 a year, than times the 10 years I had the last unit is $2400.00 in savings, and with the tip that's $3000.00, no joke. The longer you wait to get one the longer it takes to start saving. I came by this unit through a friend ten years ago, I said who cuts your hair because it always looks good. He said I do it myself, I use a Robocut. I said really, I could not believe it. Than I had to get my own and I use it as often as I need with no trip to the hair stylist that's another benefit as soon as it gets long you can keep it under control and it always looks good. Thanks Robocut.

All I can say is WOW!
First of all let me say that I am the type that has to repair every haircut I get after coming home from the salon and then shower off all the effects of my "paid for" haircut. I hate that. Ok. This is how it went down. I have been looking at this kind of cutter for years, literally and have always been afraid to venture out and actually get one. I finally made the plunge on Tuesday and my Pro-Bumblebee haircutter came yesterday, Thursday thanks to Amazon's speedy service. After looking at the instruction booklet and even watching some you tube videos of similar cutters I chickened out and went to bed. This morning I felt braver and watched a few more you tube videos only to feel just as confused and frightened to bring the cutter to my head. Then I decided that I would try one side of my hair thinking that if it ruined it, I would only have a small portion to repair. The pictures show you to gather the hair you aren't cutting and so on and so on. Now maybe that would be important if my hair was really long, but it's not. It is only about 3 1/2 inches all over needing a trim. I bit the bullet, threw caution to the wind and went after those dried ends. I used a 2" extender and turned the telescoping dial to 1" which set it to cut my hair leaving it 3" all over. Simple. With the first sweep I couldn't believe how it worked! It was really taking off the hair I wanted it to and wasn't scary at all! Within about 7 minutes total I had cut my own hair the way I wanted. I checked it as I went to make sure and it was really doing the job and was amazed each time that it was. When I finished, I trimmed the sides by hand to mid ear and was very pleased to find that there was absolutely NO hair all around. It had vacuumed it all up as it cut as it was advertised. I love this thing! Can't wait to be able to keep my hair the length I want and trim it up every 4-6 weeks now. Totally pleased with this purchase and love the independence I have now. If you are like me and hesitant, just go for it! You will not regret it! UPDATE: I have been using this for over 2 years now and it still works great! I use it about every month and have had success with each haircut. One thing to remember is that I don't see how you could mess your hair up because it seems fool proof to me. I haven't had any issues at all with the guide sliding and I make sure it is right on my scalp with each cut. I just put in the new filter that came with it and am ready to go probably another 2 years! I do clean it out after each cut and keep it clean as well as oiling the blade every couple cuts. They say to oil it every cut but I found that just got oil on my hair so for me, it works best every couple cuts. Anyway, if you are hesitant, don't be. This thing works and has saved me hundreds of dollars over the past 2 years.

Order this if you love FRUSTRATION and PAIN...and I mean PAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This newer model is absolutely horrible. Was kind of a fan of the older midel...kind of. But, this new model, and the guy who sells them out of his garage, are both pitiful. I had to have my motorized blade head replaced three times! The last time, the dude just sent me the parts and told me to fix it myself...i di not have the tools. The balls big and the brain small! What a stupid person. He knows this model's blade system breaks all the time and he continues to sell the units. It actually, and quite painfully I might add, ripped my hair out of my head...and others have complained about this, as well. This model is a PIECE OF CRAP. Thank God Amazon srepped in and allowed me to return it well after my thirty days expired. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere...or, you will be full of buyer's remorse. THIS MODEL IS CHEAPLY MADE AND ENDS UP RIPPING THE HAIR OUT OF YOUR HEAD. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. AND, THE GUY WHO SELLS IT DOES NOT WISH TO STAND BY HIS PRODUCT. Don't care to believe me? Well, go ahead and order it. Just do not come screaming to me later about having to cut the machine from your head when it locks up while holding a bunch of your hair! UPDATE. DEC 2019 Used again and it was horrible. When cutting the top hairs the machine jammed capturing my hair. I painfully had to cut the machine from my head with a knife! I do mean painful! I have used this machine for years. i know how to properly use it. Early on, this was a very good system. However, recently, these cutting heads are HORRIBLE and simply must be used at one's own risk. I will toss this system into the trash..where it belongs! DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM.

changed my mind! This tears the hair rather than cut it
changed my mind! not 5 stars This tears the hair rather than cut it. And it dies not do a good job with thick hair. I am returning and keeping my FLOWBEE. Original 5 star review I have struggled with Flowbee for 3 years-the flimsy spacers, a burnt out vacuum in one year and totally blunt, square head hair cuts. I am no styling genius; so I bear some of the responsibility. Today I received the Haircut Pro Vacuum Haircutter, and the difference between it and the Flowbee is like between night and day. This is a sturdy, compact system. The spacers are sturdy and just so easy to use.T hey actually have measurements on them so you know how many inchess you are dealing with. Gee, what a concept. The haircut seemed to feather my hair at the ends so everything seemed to lie down in place rather than be blunt and squared off. I am literally so happy I could cry. Do yourself a favor and get this system. It is great.

Finally a little fine tuning at the ear and back neckline
Prime membership continues to add value to my purchases. This unit was ordered less than 48 hours ago, has been delivered, and provided three haircuts to my family. I have thick, Native-American hair. It was past my shoulders this morning. I cut half off with scissors, then I cut it to 6 inches using 2 of the included extensions. Then a pass with 1 of the extensions. Finally a little fine tuning at the ear and back neckline, and I have a barber-quality haircut meeting my wife and daughter's approval. My daughter immediately after seeing my results requested I cut her bangs. I combed and separated her hair with an elastic and a headband, then used the adjustable attachment to get a 3" cut. No kidding, she looks great. My 18-month-old son got a 1-1/2" cut with 1" around the ears and neck. I estimate the value of the cuts to be at least $36.00 (without gratuity), not counting the simplicity and ease of getting this done in our own home. I did manage to get own hair stuck in it, which was mildly alarming. I suggest reviewing the procedure for dealing with this before first use so the reaction you have won't be panic. The key is to only cut 1/2" of hair at a time as directed. I had no problems with the kids' finer, shorter hair, nor mine after I got the hang of it. The instructions are well-written and the build-quality is decent. If it lasts several years it will easily more than pay for itself. I hope to report back that it has. Update 7/2017 I've used this for all my and my son's haircuts for two years and have no reason to expect that I won't get another two years out of this thing. It's a little loud, so I have used earplugs when cutting hair with it since the second or third time, but other than that there isn't much I can complain about. Update 1/2018 The Bumblebee is still going strong. It gets used regularly on (2) people and it's easily one of my favorite gadgets I've ever bought.

I've had this just over a year and I think I finally have it figured out.
First, I don't know the official words for these accessories so I struggle to explain this but here I go. The main attachment, the one that slides up and down to adjust the length, it's supposed to stay firm and not move. Mine just slops around and I need to keep it in place with duct tape. It says in the instructions that if this piece doesn't fit tightly, to put clear nail polish on the inside. I did that and it didn't help at all. Even though it would be catastrophic if it moved around while using it, I don't find this to be a big deal because it's easy enough to deal with. I maintain a pixie cut - extremely thick, coarse and straight hair, 3 inches long, all the same length only slightly tapered around my ears and back of neck. The suction is excellent, I use it on the highest suction setting for my thick, straight coarse hair and it does the job. The vacuum is extremely LOUD though, but, it's powerful so it's all good. I use ear buds or other ear protection while using this thing. If I used it on my kid, he would need ear protection for sure. The blades are sharp and I recommend oiling the blades every single time I use it. I get compliments on my pixie cuts all the time, it looks really good. I do feel like a tapered cut just wouldn't look all that great as it just doesn't do the same job as professional hair stylist. It's best for an all over same length cut. The cord and hose could be twice as long, really. And, there's no way I could use this on my dog, it's just too loud. It takes some time to get used to. I watched Youtube and the manufacturer’s videos and had to laugh, we are an interesting bunch....Some things I’ve learned in the last 1.5 years using it, run it through your hair at every possible angle, over and over. When you think you're done, do it again. Seriously, it will work. It takes some time and practise, it's a bit awkward but it will work. Oil the blades with each use. It's well made for the most part. Maybe mine is just flawed a bit with the sloppy extension. Good luck!

Better than the original design
I opened box and saw a clear soda pop bottle masquerading as a vacuum cleaner, and immediately thought I should return it, however, I was in dire need of a haircut, so I plugged it in and gave it a whirl. What I found was that the soda pop bottle vacuum actually works great - great vacuum, small and lightweight. Also, is easier to set-up and store away. Also, after many bad reviews, I was happy to find that the main attraction, the actual haircutter worked better that the old model. Much faster cut also. It remains to be seen how long the soda pop vacuum bottle lasts , however, for now I am happy as a pig in mud. UPDATE--------- 9 month old review !! - every time I use the new model I think about updating this review, because I really LOVE the new unit compared to the old one - and it LOOKS like total junk but it really works great ! LOVE IT ! - get the unit with the vacuum pre-installed - I love it - much more compact and handy than plugging it into a vacuum cleaner !

INFO THAT MIGHT HELP WITH YOUR FIRST CUT
UPDATE: For my second haircut, things went badly. First, I couldn't get enough suction to draw my hair up to the blades. But WORSE, within less than a minute it started smelling like melting rubber. When I unplugged it, the cord and plug were hot to touch, and the smell that filled up my apartment made me feel sick. I'm not kidding when I say it was not turned on for one full minute! Since the first use, the only thing I had done was open it, clean out the hair, and put it back together. Everything inside looked fine, filter and all. So I made sure the suction-regulator hole was closed (for maximum suction) and tried it again. Still not enough suction for hair to reach the blades, and again within seconds it started to smell like something melting. Amazon offered to replace it, but I'm afraid I won't be able to trust it, particularly for more than a few cuts. I'm going to return it and go back to my trusty old 20-something-year-old Flo-Bee. I was going to give it just one star but added the an extra one for Amazon's great customer service. That part is excellent! (I’ve been cutting my hair with a Flowbee for 21 years so I’m used to this vacuum-cut idea.) When I first turned it on, the noise was so startling that I flipped it off immediately. It sounded like a shop vacuum with a squealing high-pitched overtone. I gathered some nerve and turned it on again, testing whether I’d need earplugs. But this time the high pitch soon subsided. I’m not certain whether I got used to it and didn’t notice, or if the squeal actually went away. (Guess I’ll find out next time I use it.) The plastic extender preinstalled on the haircutter DOES adjust! At first I couldn’t get it to budge, didn’t want to break it, so I settled for a REALLY short cut and used one of the two-inch extenders. Each of the two regular extenders is two inches—in my case, one being too short but both (four inches) being too long. Afterwards I was able to force the preinstalled attachment loose—it finally popped completely off and was a bit tricky to get back on. What I know now is that, next time, I can set the preinstalled one to one inch and add a two-inch piece to get three inches. Unless you’re using the pet attachments, or the “taper” one, it’s unlikely you'll get an even length. That’s because both of the regular extenders have only two protrusions on their ends (opposite each side) to allow air to flow between the attachment and your scalp. I think there should be protrusions on all four sides, like what’s on the taper attachment. It’s next to impossible to hold the cutter straight up or straight out from your scalp at all times, but if you don’t you’re not getting a consistent measure. Tip the cutter just a little this way or that—well, my supposed two-inch cut ended up anywhere from one-and-a-half to two-and-a-quarter inches long. And I did consciously try to hold the cutter perpendicular at all times. UPDATE: It's been three months since my first (and only) haircut, which came out way too short. I'm just now (7/30/16) trying it again, which was a huge mistake because apparently the warranty is only for 60 days and it's now been 90. This time, first of all, I can't get enough suction to draw my hair up to the blades. But WORSE, within less than a minute is gets extremely hot and smells like melting rubber. When I unplugged it, even the cord felt dangerously hot and the smell in my apartment made me feel sick to my stomach. And I'm not kidding when I say it was not turned on for even one full minute. Obviously something is very wrong--guess I'm out a hundred bucks just because I waited three months to use it a second time. THAT CANNOT BE FAIR! So right now my hair is embarrassingly short (I’m going to be wearing a hat when I leave the house). I will try again in two or three months. I’m going to try placing the short-hair attachment over the end of an extender. It is sort of grill-shaped, which should prevent the uneven results I got this first time. The plus side is that the Bumblebee did cut my hair in about a third the time it takes with my 21-year-old Flowbee—probably because the blades are dull. Also I didn't have to drag out my vacuum cleaner. So for now I’m giving four stars and may revise this after trying a couple more haircuts.
