Great soundbar for a compact space
While most small soundbars are in fact loud, they tend to not have great sound. This is the exception. For its size it not only fills a small room with sound, it has great bass output too. Connectivity is no problem. You have a line in , optical , USB, RCA, Bluetooth, and a HDMI-ARC connection. My only complaint is that there is only one HDMI connection, and there is no display on the unit to show the sound mode, volume level, or connection type. But for the price, asking for those things is a little much anyway. Bottom line, if you have a smaller space and want big sound, this is the sound bar for you.

This is what good enough sounds like.
I purchased the HS214 to replace my old sound bar, as I'd lost the original remote and had no way to operate it any longer. The draw was the ARC HDMI connection, the face buttons (as opposed to no buttons), and the built-in subwoofer. For reference, I own an onn 65" 4K Roku TV thanks to Black Friday, and a killer gaming PC connected to it. Installing the bar was super easy. I already had the TV on, plugged in the power and HDMI cable, and it woke up on its own. I turned the TV off and it turned off. I don't think it gets much easier. I am able to control the volume with the TV remote. I was also able, with the original remote, to turn the brightness down/off on the LED indicator and to adjust the bass volume relative to the overall volume. Nice... The subwoofer is likely the big question with this bar. I have the settings set to movie, full crank on the subwoofer volume. I can't feel the bass, but I can hear it just fine. It's a 3" speaker with a 1/4" foam flex surround. This is best for people who live in apartments with thin walls (or some similar situation) that want at least some kind of bass to work with. The only drawback I've found is if too much time passes, the bar will shut off on its own, like a sleep function after 10-15 minutes. I can use the original remote or the face buttons to turn it on, or turn the TV off and back on. Not a big deal if you have media constantly running, but I use my TV as a computer monitor, so I'm not always making noise with it. There seems to be no clear way to change this. It's a common function in modern devices, so it is what it is If this were a sound system that you could turn up and blow the windows out of the house, this would be a 5-star review and a 5-star product. This is a 4-star sound bar, and that's exactly what I wanted to purchase. It's not crystal clear, it's not a thunder generator, but for my purposes, it'll do just fine. Definitely sounds better than the stock TV speakers. I am satisfied with my purchase.

Hisense Sound Bar Adds to the Audio Experience
Excellent compact sound bar that exceeds the audio quality provided by the TV! Include a built in subwoofer. Highly recommend for ease of setup, cost, and sound quality.

Great sound quality
Great sound quality, I just wish there was auto-on. There is auto off if it doesn’t see an input, but I have to turn it on every time I turn the tv on. I also can’t control the volume with my Apple TV remote but then again they never claimed I could. This product works fantastic otherwise and makes my crappy tv sound way better than it should

Mount Kit is 2 screws
I wanted an inexpensive sound bar that wouldn't take up much room, but would still sound decent at all ranges. That's why I went with the Hisense HS214 with the built-in subwoofer. The sound is as good as expected. It doesn't produce much bass, but enough to set it apart from those that don't have a subwoofer. This was actually a pretty big deal for me, because I didn't want much bass, but the lack of any is vastly inferior, imo. The voice clarity is good, but I'd still say that it's average, at best. I have trouble understanding the dialogue when watching TV and I think this will help, but I've seen other inexpensive sound bars that were better here. It has surround sound and I just want to say that the NEWS mode is far more tinney than expected. I think it's worse than my TV speaker in that regard and I find it disappointing, even though I likely wouldn't have used it anyhow. For some reason, Alexa recognized it and now shows it as an inactive device in my Alexa app. I don't think it actually works with Alexa, though, and it's not the first time I've had a device do that (i.e Alexa recognizes the device, but shows it as inactive and won't control it). I didn't expect it to work with Alexa and I'm not even sure what good it would do, so no big deal. My only big complaint is with the "mounting kit", which consists of two screws. I wouldn't even care, except that it won't sit flat against the wall using the screws, because the cords are in the way (and I tried). As far as I'm concerned, this is a design flaw and you'll need to buy a mount for it to sit flat or just place it on a counter top. I may attempt to correct this with some spacers, but I'll have to buy some, since none were included. Overall, I'm pleased with the Hisense HS214, but I expected a better mount from Hisense, even if it's just a couple of spacers. Advertising it with a "mount kit" is dishonest when it can't be mounted flat. *Almost forgot to add that it worked with the nice HDMI cable with my TV remote. The volume increases in increments of 5 and seems normal around 50. It doesn't get as loud as other inexpensive sound bars I've tried, but it's loud enough for me. It won't let me just give Alexa a number for the volume, though.

Unstable and Poor EQ Range
You get what you pay for, so based on that, I guess I should have given it a higher rating. Bought it used for $59.98. It appears it is not made anymore because you can't get used. Hopefully Hisense is in the process of doing better with its 2.1. When connected via HDMI-ARC to TCL TV and using ROKU Ultra, it will occasionally go out of audio sync. If I turn it off and on again, the audio will come back into sync. The sound will sometimes get choppy. Again, if I turn it off and on again, it will go back to being normal. Does not sound better than TV speakers unless I place it in Movie EQ mode, turn up the base, Surr on, and Dim+ maxed out.

Terrific compact soundbar.
Connected to a 43" LG UHD TV through HDMI-Arc - sound comes out clear, the surround effect works well with streaming content. Bass certainly won't overpower you, but you can tell it's there, and that it has its own small, integrated sub. Has three EQ settings built-in, movie/music/news, with the latter being the closest setting to clear voice - also helps in movies with a overpowering sound effects. Doesn't distort through its volume range, and gets plenty loud for small rooms - this is not the soundbar you're looking for for large settings and/or TVs over 50". However, in its price range and intended purpose (small rooms/less that 50" screens), this is a great little bar. Better than the Bose Cinemate & Yamaha ATS-1060 I have on other TVs? No, nor was it meant to compete with those price segments - but for everyday use, watching YT vids, streaming The Office, listening to some tunes, it does the job. And does it well. Conclusion: if you're looking for a compact 2.1 soundbar with great sound and a budget price, I'd look no further than the Hisense HS214.

Solid value priced soundbar
We recently upgraded our TV, but as is the case with most new tv's the sound quality out of the tv speakers was at best average. Decided to take a flyer on a low cost alternative in this sound bar. Pleased all in all with it so far. Upfront, I will state that the sound quality is not a match for other much more higher priced sound bars you might listen to in Best Buy or some other store. That said, the sound is loads better than my TV sound. Voices can be heard clearly. When the volume is pumped up, you do get a better experience when viewing movies with big sounds like Star Trek, Godzilla, etc. Connection using HDMI eARC on my TV was very straightforward. When I turn the TV on, the sound bar comes on as well and is immediately controllable using the TV remote. I can't change the sound bar's sound mode with the TV remote, so I do have to use the included remote, but I have pretty well settled on movie mode with surround turned on. Probably if I were doing a straight comparison to a higher end sound bar with a detached subwoofer, I might only rate this sound bar a 3 across the board, but given what it is replacing and our need to not go super high end for sound, a 4 seems appropriate and it certainly I think is worth the cost if you simply want to upgrade your sound without spending an arm and a leg.

Can't beat it for the price
I live in an apartment so having a full range 5.1 system with a subwoofer on the floor shaking my neighbours wasn't an option. This sound bar from Hisense paired with a 65 inch Hisense TV is an amazing experience. I switched between the TV speakers and the sound bar during intense movie scenes and quieter moments just to hear the difference, and it just convinced me that this is well worth the 100$ I paid for it. The dialogue are super crisp and clear, and there's enough bass to envelop the listeners when watching movies or listening to music, but not too much that my neighbours will get mad at me. Probably not the best product for a large living room, but you get what you pay for, and I am utterly satisfied with this product. Only downside, and this is not the sound bar's fault from the research I made on the subject, but the HDMI ARC is not working for me even though I did everything I could for it to work. The only difference with using optical is that my TV remote and the sound bar remote works independently from each other. I just put max volume, movie preset (which sound better for even music anyways), and max bass (it's not that crazy anyways) on the sound bar, then put that remote away and only use my TV remote from now on. I don't understand the reviews saying it's not loud enough. Unless you put it in a wide open space like a loft with super high ceiling, the sound bar is very impressive for its size. Perfect for a small to medium living room with 8 to 10 feet ceiling.

Lots of good features mixed with some bad
I wanted a small sound bar for my new Hisense TV. Sort of made sense to buy a Hisense Soundbar as well. When I opened the box, the sound bar had a nice look and feel. I set up the sound bar, plugged in power and attached it using the optical cable. I have been using my cable box remote to control my TV and immediately noticed that the remote stopped working with the TV. Turns out that the sound bar actually blocks the remote sensor on the TV. I moved the sound bar to a lower shelf, and the remote started working properly again. After some reading, I discovered that the sound bar had a IR pass through which allows the signal from the remote to pass-through to the TV remote sensor. For anyone who has the sound bar in front of the TV you should ensure that you have the IR pass-through aligned with the TVs remote sensor and make sure it’s enabled via the sound bar remote. I know that companies like to keep their manuals small but it would have been helpful to add a small section that explains this to the user. My next goal was to get the sound bar to turn on automatically with the TV. The manuel says to press the source and volume up button on the sound bar. I tried this many many times with no luck. The manual says that the status light would flash white and green when this feature was enabled and would flash orange when the sound bar is off. I gave up and tried to contact Hisense support. The next day I experimented some more, and kept touching the two buttons in various speeds and sequences, and suddenly it enabled the feature. I am not sure exactly what I did, but it worked. Hisense support never contacted me back. Now to get to the sound quality. There are three sound settings and a surround setting on the remote you can can tweak to get different audio effects. Since my sound bar was sitting directly on the shelf, I felt that the bass sound was a bit restricted. I found a couple of small wooden blocks that I set under the outer edges of the sound bar and raised it up from the shelf a bit. It helped with the bass sound. Two screws came with the sound bar which could be used to wall-mount it. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. I felt that the manual could be improved to help someone setting this up. Attempting to contact Hisense support was a failure. It certainly does not perform like a high end sound bar. The sound is better than my TV speakers, so i am pretty happy with this purchase.

Good quality for the price
Sound quality is good but not the best, but certainly high for this price point. Highs and Lows are good, but Mids are a little underwhelming. No dedicated buttons for each input means I have to cycle through all the sources using a single button in the remote controller. 3 built in EQ, Bass + - buttons, Surr on/off button.
