Review on Movie
I am giving this 5 stars based solely on the film and the story. It is a wonderful follow up to the video Keiko: A Journey Home. Keiko: A Journey Home went into how they got him out of the park in Mexico City and into his pen in Oregon. This movie went into much more detail on what happened after. With Blackfish documentary making waves in the captive industry, this movie goes to show that captive orca whales CAN be integrated back into the wild or at least retired into an ocean pen. To see the transformation Keiko made as a captive sick whale with papilloma virus and almost dead, rehabilitated, taught to catch food, and swim in his home ocean waters brought tears to my eyes.I hope one day to see this for Lolita (See Lolita: Slave to Entertainment for more on that topic). They point out in the film that one of the most saddest aspects was the fact that they were not able to reunite Keiko with his own family pod. We know where Lolita's family is. Her teeth (unlike so many in captivity) are in prestine condition as she does not have horizontal metal grates to bite down on and break her teeth. Knowing that she has been in captivity for 43+ years AND that her mother is still alive in the wild, absolutely breaks my heart. This is a GREED filled industry. Their is NOTHING education about seeing these animals perform circus tricks for our amusement. It is so tragic.Side Note - Rating the actual film format: I would give this 3 stars as a BluRay title. At 30.00 + shipping it is a little on the steep side for any BluRay, and I didn't notice any more quality then that of a standard DVD (the DVD is 20.00). While I'm sure they used cardboard to cut back on plastic, I was a little disappointed in the case. While the shipper did write "Do Not Bend" on the movie, the case was pretty beat up upon arrival. I also cannot store it with my other BluRays do to this. The only reason I did not give the format of the film 2 stars is because the shipper did assure me that proceeds of the sale will go to the Free Willy/Keiko Foundation (which I am very happy about). I also bought this on smile.amazon.com so The OrcaNetwork will also benefit from .5% of the sale :)

I met Keiko! ❤️
I love this movie of Keikos history, I was so grateful when he was saved and healed when he was brought to Oregon because like everyone else on earth I fell in love with Keiko in Free Willy. And right about the time Keiko was moved a friend of mine moved to Newport and got a job at the Aquarium. Early on a Saturday morning she brought me down to meet him and I got to go out to Keikos area and watch him swim and what a thrill that was!As my friend was walking away she told me not to get too close or try to pet him which of course I did as soon as her back was turned 😉 well of course it was a trick but getting soaked by Keiko is my happiest memory of him! That boy could MOVE fast! lolGone but always remembered💗

Beautiful Documentary
Behind the movie star, Willy, was the real life Keiko who suffered immensely at the hands of greedy and ignorant people for many long and lonely years. Thankfully, due to public outcry, Warner Brothers (producers of the movie) stepped up to do something because they couldn't just let the whale languish. Many scientists and wildlife conservationists came together and were able to provide freedom and a much better way of life for Keiko in his last 5 years. What an incredible legacy this glorious creature left us all. A must see. Humans are evolving in the understanding that wild animals do not belong in captivity. It is not educational, nor is it fun. It is a practice that must end and as more people see this truth it will end, thanks to wonderful people who made this film and participated in his rehabilitation.

A must see for ALL of those that love Orcas...
There are absolutely no words regarding what whales and dolphins go through to be exploited in these pathetic tanks in these pathetic parks. It amazes me that so many people are all about the SPCA and how domesticated dogs are treated yet they have absolutely no heart for wild animals that belong in the wild and not some tiny tank in comparison to their vast ocean homes and their families. Wild animals weren't created by God to be exploited and made profit from and every time you pay to go to an aquarium, park, Sea World, etc. you are allowing whales, dolphins etc. to be killed in the process. This is a documentary that should be shown in schools so that way our children can see exactly what exploitation does and how exploitation hurts wild animals. If you want to see an Orca go to Canada, Oregon, Washington state, etc. and go see them in the wild where they are free and in their own environment. How would you like being taken from your family and put in a cage for the rest of your life so people could come look at you perform for your food??? Research "Pavlov's Dogs" as he was the first physiologist to develop the performance/feeding response also seen in ABA/VBA for children with autism. Stop allowing these parks to exploit and abuse these animals by boycotting such non-sense.

It’s 2023!!?
After watching this I looked into how many are still captive and I’m shocked. It’s 2023… Really disappointed in the U.S. I’ve signed petitions for Lolita in Miami and others. Please don’t visit these places that think it’s okay to keep an Orca captive 🙏🏻
