Ingenious Little Device
Love this adapter; it has worked well for me in UK/Aus, US, European, and NZ outlets. Learning how it works took some time though, due to the lack of instructions. Claims by other reviewers, that “it does not fit into Europe’s (German) round recessed outlets”, or “the prongs aren't long enough”, show that they did not look closely / understand. Two key issues for recessed “European” sockets: the “European” pins can be extended to fit into these deeper outlets. Unscrew the metal tips, extend fully, and continue to turn (counterclockwise) to set the tips in the extended position. In a deep European socket, use the adapter ‘upside-down’; turn the adapter so the two-pin socket (and the current indicator lights) is at the top. This allows the shoulders of the adapter to enter slightly into the recessed wall socket and provides more support to cords, adapters, etc.For Kiwi sockets, the two “US” blades rotate! With the two pin socket facing up, open the two “US” blades up, then rotate the left blade counterclockwise and the right blade clockwise.Pros: Ingenious little device; a single adapter that I have used in five or more socket typesVery compact and portable, no pins sticking out when foldedLights confirm power and show 110v or 220v which helps you to protect your 110v devices (this is NOT a converter)Doubles your outlets, allowing you to power a second (two-pin) device; if there is only one outlet available, and the TV is plugged in, you can split the outlet and take power for another device.Good value for the $; I will purchase againCons: There were no instructionsA little bit fragile, if you need heavy duty, buy the specific adapter!Does not ground your device

Packs a lot into compact space
This is purposely designed to be exceptionally lightweight and compact. The pins unscrew to extend, and once extended continue unscrewing them in the same direction to lock them into place. It may seem flimsy but it works well and has never let me down. Depending on the socket and the weight of the cord plugged into it, it might tend to fall out of the socket, that's the only downside I've noticed. Just position everything so that the load does not pull on the adapter and you'll be fine. One HUGE bonus is that there are TWO sockets for plugs, so you can plug in your laptop and your cellphone adapter at the same time. Also, there are LEDs to tell you there is power and whether it's 110VAC or 220VAC. I like to travel light and this adapter is ideal.

Don't Waste Your Money
I got this because I travel all over the world as a pilot. I first tried it in England, and while the plastic upper segment goes into the slot well the rounded lower portions of the plug will not clear the protective portion of the receptacles that are flat. Next I took it to Europe (Germany and France) and it would not work in either country because the prongs are not long enough or the body is not small enough to fit into the recessed receptacles that are most prevalent in the hotels that I stay in. It sort of works in the Australian mode because the airplane has a similar receptacle, however, if you put anything but the lightest of plugs into the adapter, it does not have sufficient tension to remain in the plug and so it falls out. I go to Australia and asia in a couple of weeks and will provide an update at that point. But from my trials this far it is one of the worst purchases I have made through Amazon.com. Don't waste your money.Just arrived back from Australia, Philippines and Japan. It actually mostly worked in all of these places. I say mostly because while in Japan and the Philippines the prongs of the device actually fit the receptacles, the body of the device was so large that it interfered with the operation of the on/off switch immediately adjacent to the plug that turned the power to the plug on and off. In Australia the ability of the rectangular prongs to rotate allowed them to fit the angled receptacles that are there. The one nice feature of the device is that the lights illuminate in the device to let you know that you have a good connection and you are getting power.Overall, as a result of my latest tests, I would upgrade my rating to one and a half or even two stars, but be sure that it works in the countries that you may frequent.

Inexpensive Universal adapter. Takes polarized US plugs.
This is your standard Universal adapter which takes any up-to-date plug from the UK, Europe (except Switzerland), Australia and N. America to be used in any country that also using the same set of outlet shapes. This adapter does not take nor adapt to Swiss, or the old British "C" type grounded plug where the middle earth-pin is round.Unlike many budget (and non-budget) Universal adapters this particular one takes N. American polarized 2-prong plugs commonly found in shavers, hairdryers and other bathroom appliances - the type where one flat prong is a bit bigger than the other flat prong. The second outlet on the top of the adapter however only takes 2-prong and the polarized socket is positioned on the right hand side instead of the left so larger plugs may not fit due to proximity to the wall. The build quality is ok at best probably due to its light weight. Adjusting the prongs feels a bit fiddly and fragile at the beginning, but is secure once adjusted. As long as the receiving outlet is not too tight, then this does what it's designed to do. It has so far survived over 20 trips in the past 6 months to countries all over Asia and Europe. This travel adapter is rated to 10A and not the usual 13A that most Universal Adapter are. As in most travel adapters, the middle pin is plastic and does not provide grounding.Recommended as a lightweight backup travel adapter for use in N. America, UK, Europe (except Switzerland), Australia and parts of Asia.[My adapter was brought from Battery World and fulfilled by Amazon]
