Rightsizing your coffee maker is key for a 2nd good cup of coffee!
I live alone and usually have two larger size cups of coffee every morning. Typical standard 10 - 12 cup coffee pots have always been an issue for me as all warming pads are non-adjustable in temperature (why is that?). By the time I go back to refill my cup, the remaining coffee left in the pot is always burnt.Ironically if you buy a standalone warmer for a cup of coffee or tea, they are almost understandably adjustable in temperature. Coffee machine makers need to fix this imho. I could care less about clocks, timers, etc.Years ago, I switched to a 10-cup B&D glass thermal carafe coffee maker which worked great. No heating pad, no burnt 2nd cup of coffee. I couldn't wait too long for the 2nd cup, as with only two cups of coffee the heat from the small amount of coffee could not keep the remaining coffee hot for too long, but it worked. As with all things after years of faithful service, that pot eventually died.I then bought a brand new highly rated B&D 12 cup steel thermal carafe coffee maker as B&D no longer makes smaller thermal glass carafe models. A great machine, but a huge mistake. The 12-cup steel thermal carafe does not hold heat like the older 10-cup glass thermal carafe did, so the 2nd cup is almost always cool. B&D tries to put "lipstick on this pig" by strongly suggesting you preheat the steel carafe with hot water for a few minutes, then empty it, THEN make your 2-3 cups of coffee if you want it hot. Man, too much effort, too much waster of hot water. This little machine is sized perfectly for my needs. Its measure of a cup of coffee is much smaller than mine (smaller volume), and yes, the number of cups indicated on the waterline of the machine doesn't align with number of cups markings on the carafe (one cup less), I can live with that. This Amazon Basics five cup machine is good looking, small, simple, and very well made for what it is meant to be. While so much smaller, it can still use standard circular disposable coffee filers if you don't wish to use the reusable filter that comes with it.The burner pad is sized for the smaller amount of coffee so it DOES NOT BURN the second cup of coffee! It was $20 vs $65 for my now boxed up and stored 12-cup B&D steel thermal machine. My only "complaint" is I think the glass wall of the carafe of this Amazon Basics machine is VERY thin. You must treat it very gently or it is going to break.Well done, Amazon! This coffee marker is MUCH less expensive and far simpler than a Kerig coffee machine. While it's a little more work than a Kerig, not by much.-

Simple and a great price!
All I use are drip coffee makers like this one, I've had 2 by 'mr coffee' and the last one lasted only 1 year! This is my first by Amazon so hopefully it'll last awhile! This is super easy to use, and I really like the reusable filter! The price was right compared to other fancy machines with foam and ice coffee and all that other garbage that people drink today. I like my coffee black and strong, I don't need all that foof! My only complaint with this machine is sometimes when you pour the water into the machine the water will run down the side of the carafe and dribble on the counter, but im pretty sure all drip coffee makers have this same issue. There's no timer, it comes in 2 colors, black or stainless steel, not too big so it fits nice on a counter under the cabinets!

Inexpensive but nice small coffeemaker!
This review is for the 5-cup Amazon Basics coffee maker with reusable filter, coffee pot, Black and Stainless steel (non-programmable conventional design). I’ve had it now for 10 days, used it several times and am overall quite happy with it. I’m the only coffee-drinker in my house and have 1-2 mugs a day probably 3-4 days a week.Pros:• Size is great for my needs, and it was the cheapest model (usually something I avoid as I find you get what you don’t pay for. Not true in this case!).• No wasteful paper filters (or worse – single-use pods!). Other models I looked at did not include a reusable filter and were more expensive.• Coffee comes out hot and hot plate keeps it hot.Cons:• The cord is short, which can be a pro for some as it won’t clutter up your counter. Because the outlet is to the left of where I keep it and the water level display and the place to fill water is on the right, I have to move it every time I fill it. I’d love it if the cord was a few inches longer.• Even when I fill the water all the way (over what they say is “Max”) the carafe only makes coffee to the 4-cup line (not 5-cup). This is enough for me, but not sure why it doesn’t fill the carafe.

5-Cup Coffee Maker
This compact machine brews a hot, fast pot of coffee using a handy reusable filter, but the flimsy plastic lid warps from steam and the narrow glass carafe constantly drips down the side when pouring.

It died at five months.
I used this coffee maker once a day for five months and it just died. out of the blue. I realize it wasn't pricey but I was hoping for at least a year of use.so right now that stinks. I have to get a new coffee maker.

Do NOT Buy This Coffeemaker... I Replaced it Within 2 Months
A coffeemaker either does what it's supposed to do or doesn't, and unfortunately I feel this one is the latter and a waste of money. Out of all the coffeemakers I've ever owned (and I've had a LOT of them), I can say this one is the absolute worst. The good stuff, and there's not much:A) It's inexpensive; and,B) it has a permanent filter. The bad stuff, and problems encountered:C) Every pot of coffee was crunchy, with more than an acceptable amount of coffee grounds in it, which is primarily due to the very quick heated water flow through the coffee within the filter. It's so much that the coffee ALWAYS spilled over the sides and flowed into the pot, even when brewing smaller pots of coffee and/or using a paper filter;D) Due to the coffee grounds spilling over the side of the permanent filter, coffee grounds would get into the flow seal, causing coffee to flow onto the heating element whenever pouring a cup of coffee, which then needed to be dried off before replacing the coffeepot, so the valve became useless and required careful cleaning after each and every use;E) The heating element is so hot that it caused coffee to evaporate much quicker than any coffeemaker I've ever had, making it taste bad within a shorter period of time, and even baking all the coffee away and I was surprised the pot didn't shatter due to the excess heat and baked on coffee and grounds in the bottom of it.I tried to like this coffeemaker, even doing something to limit the flow of the heated water over the coffee filter, but ultimately, this one had to go, and I chose to replace it.Quite honestly, I had far less coffee grounds from either a French press (which I feel results better tasting coffee and requires less cleaning after each use), or even "cowboy coffee" with ground coffee in a pot and poured through a screen or filter.Do yourself a favor and select a coffeemaker that does what it's supposed to do, because I don't feel this one does.

Ideal for Solo Coffee Lovers
This coffee maker is the perfect size for me. Keep in mind it’s small, but since I live alone, it works great. It comes with a removable basket filter, though I prefer using small paper filters (which I found on this site). I use filtered water from my fridge, and it brews a hot, satisfying pot of coffee. In the morning, I fill it to the 4-cup mark, which gives me about 2 cups of coffee (see photo).

Value for Price point
This little coffee maker is a real gem. This is also the first one I've ever used with the reusable filter basket.Compared to conventional paper filter the reusable one produces a pot of coffee in way less time and its no great bother to clean it either. I prepare everything the night before and I switch it on first thing in the morning and by the time I've done the usual things one does upon awakening I've got a pot of coffee waiting for me. Doesn't take up much space on the counter top either. It looks amazingly similar to a Black and Decker one I had for almost ten years before it burned out so we'll see how long this one lasts. For a basic filter coffee maker, Amazon, you did a good job and the price point can't be beat. It gets my 5 star recommendation if a simple no frills machine is what you're looking for.
