Good Time Waster
Overall a good time wasting movie. Not bad, not good but it is good for a time waster. Spoilers below. It starts out with laying the groundwork for the movie with patient 0. Personally, I wish that they had left patient 0 a mystery until the end of the movie like they did with Contagion (my personal favorite non zombie virus movie). The virus spread through personal contact with the infected and spread quickly. I think the entire movie took place over the course of maybe 3 or 4 days. It wasn't too clear on how long it actually took for the inhabitants of the island to have it spread, sicken, and some die. They introduce the religious figurehead of the movie, Joseph, who plays a key roll in the rest of the movie. He is a religious figurehead of a, I hate to say cult because it doesn't have all of the characteristics of one in the film, so I will say organization. He believes in the power of God and herbal medicines to heal and he is the one that takes patient 0 in for treatment. The virologist that came to the island tried her best to get patient 0 in for treatment but to her dismay, multiple times, she is denied. The course of the movie progresses with many people getting sick, including one of the children of the main characters. You also find out that Joseph, the aforementioned religious figure, had gotten sick as well. There are heavy religious overtones in the movie with Joseph being the main provider of them. He has a strong belief that God will save him and the people that are with him in the compound. The virologist begins her work in the hospital working on the virus with the help of the CDC, who eventually send teams to the island. Throughout the course of the next while, the island gets quarantined and anyone on the island is stuck there with the virus. By the end, both of the main character's children have the virus and there is a possible cure. The cure comes in the form of a bag of blood from the religious figure. He had somehow beaten the virus (I want to shout out the pretty amazing rendition of "Amazing Grace" that is sung around this time). This is where you have to suspend some belief for a second, or trust in the Lord as the movie wants you to do. They make a serum from the blood in 24 hours in a small, island hospital that has no major lab, inside of a plastic tent with a few test tubes. It is a little silly. But in the end, all is well and everyone is cured thanks to the blood of the religious figure. It is like a Jesus moment in the end. There is a lot to unpack in that, but there you go. A small summary of the movie with a little commentary.Overall, as I said, the movie is a good time waster. It isn't the best movie I have seen in the zone of virus things but it isn't the worst. It just felt very rushed by the end. Like they were running out of time to make the film and just had to end it as quick as possible.

Something for a rainy day
The premise of this movie has so many faults. Let's see, none of the islanders can be removed from the island in case they've been infected but the CDC people who were working directly with the people are allowed to leave and pollute an entire navy ship? Yeah, I don't think so. The female lead is, at best, deadpan. She is not able to adequately express any emotions. When she supposedly is sobbing for her son's soon demise she reminds me of a three year old manipulatively trying to get something they want by "fake crying." Her anger looks the same as her indignation, etc. It is a movie to watch when there is nothing else to watch.

enjoyable movie but a B- for a disease control movie. nice travelogue for the islands though.
Simple plot and some of the actors were fun to see again. Lorenzo Lamas looked great, so did the Y&Restless ever breathless soap star Melody Thomas Scott though her acting was flat. The guy who played Conan as a religious medicine faith healer type guy was a twist.the horrible and ridiculous picture of the CDC in Atlanta made it rather bad. All on Nickie to save the world. :-(loved the scenery though and the fresh acting of the younger likable gal.

Not the best but not the worst pandemic movie.
Not the best virus outbreak movie I have seen. But for a low budget one it's okay, did not age well with time but if you likepandemic movies this is one to add to your collection.I agree it could of been better with a bigger budget they slacked off with the ending inmy opinion.

Goofy
It had some funny lines but was mostly goofy like a Harlequin Romance. Everybody looks and acts like Barbie and Ken dolls.
