MADK, Vol. 2 (2)

The story and artwork are truly beautiful. It's not your standard BL where there are miscommunication and jealousy. No no no no. It's got gore, society building, emotional, and of course there is sex but imma tell you what, the entire book is a trigger warning. It's a 5 in my book though, not every book is gonna be sunshine and rainbows.

I devoured both volumes back-to-back, and now I'm DYING to read more. Crossing my fingers that more is on the way!Artwork? Gorgeous.Expressions? Fantastic.Characters? Flavorful.Storyline? Enthralling.Steer clear if you don't like:-gore-violence-nudity-power imbalances-dubious (or straight up NON-) consent...But, like... IT'S A REALLY GOOD STORY and I am UTTERLY IN LOVE WITH THE CHARACTERS.

one of the best manga out there imo, the artwork is so unique and beautiful theres NOTHING out there like it, the story is a mix of horror, thriller, and the characters all bring different things to the table to hook you. you want to know what's next!!! if you can stomach gore and are mindful of the rating, this manga is an absolute must read. cannot wait for volume 3!!!!!!

I really love this story and where it's going. It has your label as "BL" but it's not at all your typical BL where the couples get together and you know who loves who... NO. Not this manga! Literal main character wants hell domination and it's absolutely twisted. I love the way the author writes the characters in this story since they all have different motives to their actions. The art, looks kind of intimidating on the outside, but very cute and simple in the inside~!Other than the contents inside, my manga came damaged! :( The spine was a little messed up, as if something pushed the edge and smashed it a bit... Thing is, the package wasn't damaged so... Over-all still readable and not much of a problem if see from a far.

Other then the cover -which I must say I hated the art there😭- the rest of the art is beautiful. The second vol is a bit thicker then the first one. Obviously if you haven’t read the first volume then you shouldn’t be reading this but just keep in mind that it’s slightly horror(?). The story itself was great as well and I was able to understand more of the demons world and J’s past. Some spicy parts pop up which I enjoyed ahaha but no spoilers. Go ahead and purchase it, you won’t be disappointed (Other then the cover art maybe).

I adore this book! It has everything I personally been looking for, beautiful but dark plot, stunning characters with unique and compelling personalities and it has no Cliche' plot lines. And the gorgeous victorian styles are right up my alley. Soo excited for Volume 3.

I might be a little obsessed with this story. Love the art but I will keep reading for the story.

MADK 2 shows us a story that's more than what it seems.Makoto is no longer a sweet looking highschooler, he has been working in Datenshou's brothel for 3 years and one day J requests his assistance for a new job. Makoto is both excited and terrified to see J again after so long. However, things go south for Makoto when the job entails reliving and destroying the last vestiges of his humanity for it triggers in him a deep hatred towards J that puts him in the brink of insanity. Situation that makes J nothing short of delighted since he is eager to be surpassed by Makoto.This can only be achieved if Makoto finds out about J past and discovers his name. Which it's what this volume is about. In this journey, Makoto puts to use all the tricks he's learnt in the past 3 years and gets to meet characters from J's past that will either help him or hinder his mission to retrieve information about J's name and origin.Unlike the first volume, there are only one implied sexual situation between Makoto and another demon, and a semi-graphic non-con one not involving Makoto, thus making this volume less erotic but way more gory, violent, with bits of dark humor. Also more focused on the world building of the demon's world. It's very interesting to see Makoto's progression to become a stronger demon, the shift in his actions and his expressions when showing malice is a terrifying sight (<spoiler>I felt so sorry for Datenshou even though he's not my favorite demon</spoiler>). The extent of his sadistic proclivities is yet to be seen.The art falters here and there but there's many beautiful scenes. Also the new characters have a great design as always, <spoiler> J's brother is so hot with boobs and everything 😳</spoiler>.Ps. Ryo went in depth in his Twitter about the history of various demon clans and their different notion of romance which explains Makoto's conflicted feelings and his dynamic with J. Which makes this story the most interesting yaoi manga out there.

Honestly the best fantasy "bl" manga that exists, bl in quotations because this book is just so much of its own thing; this fascinating world of social politacal demons that suziri ryo has created makes you question the very meaning of love and desire. So defibitely not your average boys love per se, but plenty of gay action nonetheless. Obvious trigger warning for lots of gore and lots of sensitive subjects, this universe of demons feels very real, very dark and is all sorts of messed up. It definitely isnt just your average fun fantasy hell that you see so often depicted in manga and anime. Personally one of my favorites and most memorable ones ive read, you just get so pulled in by the intricacies of the characters and the universe.
