Tastes great, my meat and fish eating friends can’t tell the difference

There's two decent mass-market 'alternative' (mushroom-based, vegetarian I guess) oyster sauces for sale in the U.S. that I'm aware of, and this is one of them. The other one comes in similar shaped but green-labelled bottle and comes from Taiwan, you probably know it. If you live in North America, this slightly newer challenger might be worth investigating -- it has a somewhat similar taste (but still a noticeably unique 'personality') and has the added advantage of not needing to travel halfway across the globe to get to your kitchen. Works great as a base for mixing with soy sauce for homemade stir-fry goodness, or really any recipe demanding oyster sauce.

As with most Asian sauces its' salty (550 mg sodium/33.8 fl.oz.). I haven't used it yet but when I do will edit my rating. Bought this specifically because a family member who will be staying with us for a couple weeks loves Chinese cuisine but is allergic to shellfish which most all Asian sauces contain in some form. Hopefully this oyster sauce substitute will be compatible.. we'll find out if he starts itching and his feet swells twice its size, LOL!

This tastes absolutely delicious! Just remember a little goes a long way. It’s a plus to any sauce or marinade.

I am a vegetarian and very much interested in Asian cuisine. I flounder along with books and YouTube. Ordered this sauce to give it a try. BIG bottle! Tastes great. Adds richness and depth of flavor. As I really didn't know what to expect, as I have not tried any other brand, maybe I should not advocate its purchase. However, for the curious and/or adventurous cook, I can recommend giving it a go.

Absolutely DELICIOUS!! This tastes exactly like regular oyster sauce, but, with the added bonus (for us heart patients who have to watch our Sodium intake), of having around 500 mg of sodium per tablespoon. Most Oyster Sauces range from 660 mg to 1130 mg of sodium per Tablespoon, so, that's a plus for me. The bottle is 33 ounces (1.25 kg) too, and it's quite large, and a good deal for the price, especially since those dinky little 9 ounce (0.34 kg) bottles you can get in the international section of the grocery store can run around $5+ dollars.

I am happy to find this product, good flavor, and taste delicious. I add it to stir fried vegetables, or noodles after I cook it, while it is still hot, then I stir it before adding hot pepper or other seasonings. I rate this brand above others that I come across.

Delicious - if you have a seafood allergy, this is perfect replacement for traditional oyster sauce. Adds that deep Umami flavour without the risk.
