It ok compared to other systems
The Good:Easy set up and programming. Everything was easy to install and program to the control panel.Everything works pretty much as described and the quality appears good. The external keypad, fobs and RFID functions all work well. The Bad:When you attached wired sensors it gives constant false alarms (garage door sensor etc.)When you attach a land line it creates static but does work and will call out when an alarm triggers. We were not able to hook up via WiFi as we have a 5g router. Even when we enabled the 2g partition and set a separate password the app would not connect or recognize it other than to give an error message that states it is not compatible with 5g router.. UPDATE I am now able to connect via the 2g router partition and I can arm, disarm and monitor the system while away from home with the moble app. This is a plus and ups my original star rating from a 3 to a 4.

Let the buyer beware!
I do not know how to add a revised review, but I now (10/17/18) know that this system will cause problems on your home (land line) phone if you choose to have it call your cell phone when there is a alarm (and even if there no alarm). The problems started at very bad time for us, we had a death in family and most people only knew our home phone, this Fortress system stopped incoming call. After buying two new phone systems and two calls to Cox, the Cox woman gave me enough info identify to the problem. Let the buyer beware! This system is working as of now (that was in July 2018). I gave it rating of 2 because it does not come with installation instructions or spare tape. One (of few) things it says is not to mount on metal use spacer, but no spacers are in the package. Being a first time buyer, I had to learn the ropes with no help. It comes with a user's manual, but not everything works like the manual says. For example: "We recommend also entering the country code in front of the number. The country code for the US is '1'. " It took me a lot of time trying to figure out that the '1' was the problem when trying to get the system to call my cell phone. The system has been running for going on 5 days and no false alarms. The manual states that the (wireless) system will cover up to 150'. Mine covers up to 165'. Wireless is the only way for me. This could be 4 or 5 star system

Very Nice System
I didn't know a lot about security systems and I thought I would try one of the cheaper DYI systems before calling one the the professionals. After doing some research on Amazon, I opted for the SO2-E wireless system. When I opened the box, I had a bit of buyers remorse. The instruction manual was a bit confusing and I had forgotten that this system could not be controlled by an app, though you have some control by by calling the number it's connected to. They specify that a land line is needed so there was a bit a doubt whether it would work with my cable phone/router ( it did).I decided to keep it and jumped into the installation. All was packed nicely and the installation was a breeze. I made sure that each sensor worked before I hung it. There was one door/window sensor that was not programmed, however, it was quite easy to get it working. Each sensor is numbered, however, they needed to stress the fact that only 1-8 can be programmed with a delay, however, it was easy to rename the one I had on the door to 8, and to add the delay (so you can exit w/o tripping it).The system seems a bit outdated, because it is an older model, but it works very well and I feel better going to bed and leaving the house alone. Also, we have a 9 pound Yorkie that has not yet tripped any motion sensors. The siren is very loud and could have used a volume control. The added outdoor siren must be insane. It's still in the box.I am glad I didn't go with one of the professionals! It's a great system, however, if I had it to do over, I would have purchased a newer Fortress model.I hope this review helps anyone on the fence as I was for a while.

Bad. Avoid it, much better options out there
I wasn’t going to leave a review, I was just going to love with a subpar system. But my main gripe now is that the Alexa compatibility has been removed as of a month ago with no explanation from Amazon or Fortress. That was my WHOLE reason for getting the system! Most of the components are spotty, at best. The outdoor siren was a joke, I had to disconnect it. Half the time it wouldn’t go off and sometimes it WOULD go off randomly, without the alarm being triggered. This happened at 2am one night. The panel when plugged in barely holds a charge for longer than 5 minutes, and constantly alerts me that it is disconnected from power, so much so that I had to turn notifications off of the thing as it would be endless. Needless to say, it’s going in the trash and I’ll install something much better with Alexa functionality. You’ve been warned. Stay away!

Hopefully yours come preprogrammed
I purchased a “kit” that was soupy to have all the devises pre programmed. However they were not. No stickers with zone numbers on all of the sensors. I had to manually program the whole system. I have years of experience in home automation so it was fairly easy. Not so for an average person. Other than that I think anyone could program it using the online videos with patience.Like the product

Easy to set up and seems to work well
Easy to set up and seems to work well. Only issue is if you have windows with the screens inside it is very difficult to attach the sensors.
