Be sure to check all measurements before buying
Here are the approximate size measurements for the Heavy-Duty 18/10 Stainless Steel Sink Strainer that I received:Full diameter = 2.75 inchbes (2 3/4 inches)Diameter of the middle basket that fits inside the drain = 1.75 inchbes (1 3/4 inches), depth = 0.5 incbes (1/5 inch)I've had this for almost three months now and it works fine in my apartment bath tub. It fits nicely in place and does not move in the water so it catches hair and most soap debris. It has not rusted and is easy to clean so I am quite satisfied thus far. I like that it is all stainless steel with no mesh material so I expect it to last at least a few years.

Looks pretty decent and stronger than the mesh filter
I used to have the mesh filterย Danco 88821 2-3/4-Inch Tub Mesh Strainer, Stainless ย which I have been using for a year. The recent replacement rusted and broke within few weeks and hence I decided to try this one. Though twice the cost of the standard mesh filter I could find in amazon, this one has better build quality. Will have to wait and see if it lasts without any rusting. I noticed that the design of the product I received is slightly different than the product photograph posted in amazon (check customer pictures). Also, the product description says 18/10 stainless steel while the product packaging states 18/8 (Not that it matters muchfor the drain filter, as both are pretty much same and food grade strong stainless steel).

Heavy-Duty Sink Strainer 18/10 Stainless Steel
Exactly as described, fits our utility sink perfectly. Well made heavy - duty sink strainer.EDIT - After using this sink strainer for a while, we discovered that it was becoming slower and slower to drain. This was caused by 3 things: 1) My wife washing her hair in that sink and not cleaning all her very fine hair out of the strainer.2) The way the strainer was manufactured - It appears that this strainer is made by punching the drain holes in a stainless steel disk and then pressing the disk over a form to give it it's "bowl shape." In the forming process, the round holes along the sides of the "bowl" become elongated and narrow, making them smaller.3) The punched drain holes were small to begin with, probably to keep the strainer strong enough for the bowl-forming process. We corrected cause 1) by cleaning the strainer after each use. I've corrected causes 2) and 3) by drilling the strainer holes out with a slightly larger drill bit. I also use the drill bit to restore the holes deformed by the forming process, back to a round shape. If you do this, it is important to drill from the inside of the "bowl" toward the outside. The drilling will create small burrs which catch particles or scratch your fingers if drilled from the outside in. I use a fine metal file to clean the burrs off the outside of the strainer "bowl."

Very hard to clean off..
I feel as though the regular screen one I get at the dollar store actually works as well as this and that one is way easier to clean off than this one. You have to actually use a paper towel to get real clean and it clogs up very easy..not that that's a bad thing since it's doing what it supposed to do by catching stuff before it goes down the drain, but it's a pain to have to clean this out 2 - 3 times while taking one shower. Especially since it's such a pain to clean out.

Perfect!
After my landlord bought one of those mesh strainers, that get so clogged with soap scum that water backs up in the tub and you cannot get them clean, I've been looking for a better alternative. This strainer is everything I hoped it would be! It lets the soap and water through, but not the hair. It fits my tub drain perfectly. The hair is super easy to clean out, too, and all comes out in one neat clump.I had read reviews about it sometimes letting hair pass under the edges of it, so when I received it I very carefully bent the edges up just slightly, against the corner of my bathroom counter, to prevent this. It's pretty hard steel, so only gave a little, but seems to have been enough, as it fits and catches all the hair. After dealing with the horrible mesh strainer for so long, this nice, heavy-duty model is a huge frustration-saver! I'm buying another one for the tub in my mom's RV.

It looks very nice, but drains poorly
Purchased for guest bathtub/shower over 1 year ago. It looks very nice, but drains poorly. Our guests (and us) remove it each time we take a shower because the water backs up. It never collected rust, and maintained it's appearance.

Solid strainer
We use this for our kitchen sink - we have a really small kitchen drain and this fit perfectly. It fills up quickly so our sink flow stops sooner than I'd prefer, but it does its job keeping food from going down our drain and is very easy to clean and empty out. Our other options were the horrible mesh strainers, so I much prefer this one since it seems so much more durable.

Try one and you will not be sorry.
Finally someone invented a sink strainer that is a joy to use. After having spend years using and replacing and actually hating those screen mesh ones, I saw this and was totally hooked. Why? It is so easy to clean out the debris it collects! It is so easy to give it a quick wash - or authomatic dishwash - when it needs it. I got one for every single sink and tub in the house. The shiny stainless steel is so clean and beautiful that it makes the sink kind of look new because it completely covers the rim of the drain.I so like these! Try them and you will not be sorry.
