Valvoline DEXRON VI/MERCON LV ATF Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid 1 Gallon

I recently purchased the Valvoline DEXRON VI/MERCON LV full synthetic automatic transmission fluid for my vehicle's regular maintenance. An actual FULL SYNTHETIC Mercon LV and at a better price than the Ford crap that is expensive Motorcraft Mercon LV (Ford doesn't make fluids or transmissions). I can only speak for Fords and Aisins transmissions directly that require Mercon LV, but I am told that the GM DEXRON VI transmissions fluid is the exact product reading online by the professional transmission builders and gurus. 2009-2020 Fords for the most part use Mercon LV but some use ULV. But in this case, you get a great product cheaper than Ford branded fluid. They didn't design, make or even service most of these transmissions. All the Fusion's and Escapes with CVT"s and I know that the F150's that have the 6R80 claim to have lifetime fluid and they are claimed to be "sealed". That is a crock of crap. They both have drain and fill locations. The Fusion CVT's I have the most experience with, but I installed an aftermarket pan and flushed the entire transmission on the F150 Platinum with a new filter without an issue to date (We used Amsoil in this particular case). Yet, FORD says it cannot be done. That is because when the darn thing fails, they think you are going to run to them to spend 5 grand on a new one. Nope!! It is very easy to change the fluid on any of the Ford, GM or Mopar vehicles. The Fusion models uses an Allen Hex 10mm socket and 5-6 quarts of fluid to pump in with a simple fluid exchange pump from Harbor freight or Amazon. This is for any of the Ford vehicles with CVT's. This applies to many GM vehicles and Mopar too because it is the same transmission just programmed different. This fluid is affordable enough to change it on any mileage that makes you comfortable. I use Amsoil and Mobil1 motor oils and filters, so you can easily change it at the same time you are down there. Perhaps 20-30k mile intervals is plenty. For anyone over that, just order it up and the correct Hex 10mm and knock it out in 30 minutes or so.

Very few choices available for Dexron-VI ATF. This Valvoline is a true synthetic AT fluid. I bought 2 cases and performed the task of flushing my BMW's transmission and changing filter. The car only had 30K miles and yet the old oil drained out was black and totally contaminated. BMW claimed the oil on their original car is lifetime and never needs replacing. I totally disagree because right after I performed the fluid change, the shifting becomes crisper and smoother. It took 6 quarts including the filter change. But I did the flush twice because of the bad condition of the old fluids. I strongly suggest flushing the transmission after draining the fluid. Run it for a few days, then drain it again, then put in a new filter to complete a more thorough fluid change. This way, you will get more old fluids out because the converter holds quite a few quarts that unless you pull the transmission out for a rebuild, you will never be able to completely drain the system. I strongly vouch for the product. Since my BMW uses the GM transmission and GM spec to use Dexron VI, this Valvoline is 100% compatible. You just can't go wrong with it. However, having said that, performing the fluid change has to be done right. Since there is no dipstick on the BMW, the fluid has to be filled under the car through a fill hole with the engine running and also at an optimal temperature to be able to get the correct amount into the transmission. The only negative is the low flash point. If you read the data sheet from Valvoline, it states the flash point as 208C, which is quite low for a synthetic fluid.

I have a 2020 chevy Blazer V6 Front wheel drive with 28,000 miles. Decided to do a transmission drain and refill (have to do it twice on this vehicle to get most of the old fluid out). The fluid that came out was a little dirty but not horrible i was able to drain about 5 quarts out and refilled it with 5 quarts of this new valvoline fluid (kept adding fluid until it started coming out of the level plug hole on the driver side of the transmission with the engine hot and running). I then let it sit in drive for a minute and reverse for a minute while stopped and holding the brake so the new fluid can get mixed in, then went for a drive. I felt a difference almost right away the transmission shifts smoother than before i can barely even feel it shifting now and also sometimes there would be a slightly harsh downshift around 15-20 mph when coming to a stop and this seems to have gotten better as well, this is only after getting half of the old fluid out! I am ordering another case and will be doing another drain and refill soon!

Yep....it's LV trans fluid...uncapped it and poured it in my trans. Yeserieeeee.....

Its high end transmission oil. I put it in a BMW automatic transmission, and it works beautifully. When your car needs the top quality oil, this is it. Don't cheap out on your transmission as it's really really expensive when it fails. The oil is very inexpensive comparatively. 10/10, will buy again.
