How does one ignite the burner?

Push nob in and hold for15 to 20 second to let gas out them push the ignition button until it lights if it does not light clean the spark point and make it about 2mm from the burner test to see if a good spark is there

How much does the stainless steel bbq weigh?

I'm not a very good judge at weight but maybe 5-8 lbs. bottom line it's light and really a great grill for our travels. I have a griddle that works perfect on the grate where we have cooked bacon and eggs. can't wait to use it on future trips.

Is there an adapter to hook this up to natural gas with a quick-disconnect hose?

No adapter comes with this grill and this grill only!! Uses propane, not designed for natural gas.

What is the purpose of the spring/chain assembly in the rear?

This piece is called the match-stick holder, and it can be used to manually light the grill if there is an issue with the ignition system.
