Marley: The Dog Who Ate My Homework (I Can Read Level 2)

After being introduced to Marley when we found a book at Goodwill, my daughter has really enjoyed him. So, when she had a chance to pick out a few books to buy with her own money, most of them featured Marley. None of them disappointed, including this one. She chooses it frequently, and I read it to her while she sits on my lap. She has been interested in things in the sky since she was very young and liked seeing the light of "Mr. Moon." While the solar system is tangential to the overall story, it is still a nice tie in.

My son loves this series. We also have a dog named Marley. The books are sweet and fun!

I was looking for new books for my child over the summer between first and second grades and stumbled upon this Marley series. She loves animals and I was familiar with Marley from the original book "Marley and Me" so I thought she'd like reading about Marley's antics. Yup - a big success for her and me!

Good story that my pre-K could understand.

My grandson is learning to read. He likes Marley, so I am buying as many Marley books as I can afford.

This book is very typical of any of the books in the Marley beginning reader series, based in part, on the true-life adult memoir Marley & Me by John Grogan. In this installment, Marley gets a little carried away and eats Cassie's science project: a mobile of the planets in the solar system, made of fruit. What kind of dog eats fruit, I ask you?Anyway, just when everyone thinks that Marley's ruined everything, Marley saves the day, by fetching balls for the family to make a solar system with instead. Cue the 1950's laugh-track! The watercolor illustrations featuring a happy Caucasian family, wearing conservative clothes (especially Cassie's pinafore dress) give this a mildly Dick and Jane feel.

I am a special education teacher and these books are great for my reading center. My kids love them

I like that John Grogan has all types of books for kids. He provides early readers, hard bound picture books, flap books, etc. Great author and great dog Marley.
