Excellent boot if your feet are normally too wide for western boots!
I LOVE THIS BOOT! I struggled for the last year to find a western style work boot that would fit my feet and I had problems with everything until I found this boot. I've worn this all fall and winter and it is definitely waterproof. I treated them with mink oil to protect and further waterproof the leather as well. My feet are 10.5 normally and maybe slightly wide at the toes. I wear medium to heavy wool socks all the time and size 11M fit like a glove. Plenty of room to wiggle my toes but they still grip my ankle and top of my foot firmly so that they won't cause blisters when walking. I've put on hundreds of miles with no blisters. If I wear cotton socks, they are just slightly loose but still wear well. Tread is solid. As long as I kept moving on the coldest winter days we had this year in Michigan (-5F) my feet were warm with one pair of mid-weight wool socks. Anything above 10F and I never had a problem staying warm, even if I was just standing around outside. I never sat in a tree stand with these, so I can't comment on their warmth when sitting for long periods. If Rocky brand boots are too narrow for your feet like they were for mine (even their "wide" sizes), you won't regret buying these!!!

Quality alternative for price
These boots really surprised me with the all day comfort and fit. I've been wearing 8" Danner Quarry's which are considerably more expensive, but these boots are just as comfortable on balance. The fit is good in the toe box and heel, I have room but my foot is not sliding around like I thought it might without laces. The plastic heel counter type thing is ugly but seems to give some ankle support. Wore them straight out of the box and only had a little tenderness at the end of the first day. I've been wearing them for about 3 months and they are holding up pretty well to general farm work. The one thing to note, and where my Danners smoked this boot, is that they feel very hot. I think the Carhartt waterproof membrane is pretty one purpose and doesn't do much for letting heat escape. I would guess this wouldn't be an issue in the winter, but right now with 80+ temps in Michigan corn fields I'm wringing my socks out at the end of the day.

Comfortable
I bought these same boots 4 yrs ago. They are very comfortable. I wore these for everything I did. I did not have hiking boots nor shoes, just these. I walk 4 miles everyday plus whatever I walk at work on top of that. I suspect I had almost 7000 miles on these boots before I retired them and bought another pair just recently. Soles finally wore out. Definitely got my monies worth out of these boots. Maybe the company needs to get a hold of me and I would love to give them my old ones for them to display. That's a lot of miles.

One Full Size Bigger
Thanks to Amazon's wardrobe program, I was able to order 3 pair in different sizes, and return the 2 that didn't fit. I normally wear 10.5, so I ordered my correct size, plus an 11 and 11.5. I ended up keeping the 11.5, which fits perfectly. The plastic heel protector seemed to be an obstacle when I first put the boots on, but once my foot was all the way in, it's not an issue. The boots seem well-made, and are very comfortable. I wear thick socks with these boots. They are nice looking boots, and I regularly get compliments on them. My only complaint is that for being insulated, they are not very warm. My feet get cold in sub-freezing temperatures.

The Best
My husband works 60+ hours a week as a pipefitter and he can wear out a pair of work boots QUICKLY. We've spent many hundreds of dollars over the years trying to keep his feet protected, comfortable, and dry. Most of the boots he's tried have stopped being "waterproof" after a month or so, and worn out completely in about 3 months. These Carhartt boots are great. The wide width is perfect for him, and he finds them comfortable without extra inserts. They keep his feet dry, and they last a long time. I buy him a pair near his birthday every year. (He's on his 3rd or 4th pair.) By the end of the year, the boots look pretty rough but they still work! These are well worth the money. They perform better than the more expensive brands we've tried. Will buy again for sure. (ETA: I forgot to mention that my husband coats the boots with Mink Oil before wearing for the first time.) (2019 edit: 6 years later, my husband STILL loves this model, wears them every day. I hope it is never discontinued!)

Very comfortable boots!
I reside in beautiful southern Oregon. The terrain here is very rugged and always wet/rainy. I used the "try before you buy" feature at amazon. I needed something that is comfortable, durable and waterproof. After trying several brands of boots, I went with Carhartt. The Carhartt boots are extremely cozy. As far as durability, I can`t report on that yet, because it has only been a couple months. My only complaint is that I wish they were more waterproof. Other than that, so far so good. The comfort of these boots is off the charts!

Excellent boots.
I have worn Carhart apparel for many years. Shirts jackets and the like. I have always been more than satisfied with their comfort and durability. My Carhart winter jacket is 10 years old and still good as new. These boots were not a disappointment. Great fit right out of the box and I'm sure they will only get more comfortable as I break them in. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for a pair of comfortable all day wear boots. You can see and feel the quality right away. Keep up the great work Carhart !!!!

Top of insoles peeling after two 12 hr days of wearing.
Boot was a bit stiff in beginning like any new leather boot but seems to be breaking in ok. Only worn the boot for two 12 hour shifts and the fabric on top of the insoles is peeling off already. Expecting this to last longer than that. Other than that the boot seems ok. Light weight and was delivered quickly.
