Every is perfect!

Great train, lots of fun
The media could not be loaded. The train and the track are the perfect sizes for the Christmas tree. It is very easy to assemble, and the motor is strong and runs fast. The train can run forward, backward, and accelerate. The steam is the most fun part of this train set. The only downside is it requires 8 AA batteries and the batteries run out a little fast.

Great First Train, Younger Children will need some supervision
Items to Note:The train and cars are really cute and our 2-1/2 year old granddaughter really enjoys it. Her favorite part was watching or blowing on the smoke that comes out of the locomotive smoke stack! The blinking light in front of the smoke stack is a good reminder to switch off the power to the locomotive so as not to needlessly run down the batteries. When the train is switched on the smoke stack smokes and the front light flashes even when the train is not moving. The sound effects are very good and we did not find them too loud as some other viewers indicated. The box car is open and our granddaughter would load her small Sesame Street figurines and watch them steam around the oval. Batteries in the locomotive lasted surprisingly long. I quit counting after over 250 trips (yes, I counted them) around the oval on the original set of 6 Eveready alkaline batteries.Although the ages indicated for this toy say 2,3,4,5+, younger children will definitely require older supervision. Assembling the plastic track required careful alignment of the tab and slot into the adjoining piece. Special care and patience is required when the final piece completes the oval layout. We put ours together on a shag carpet and made sure the all track connections were level with one another. Once together the oval track holds together well. Some of the other reviews mentioned that the cars were made of cheap plastic and were not very substantial. The locomotive is powered by 6 AA batteries and it is not surprising that the cars were made as light as possible to maximize battery life. I don’t fault the toy manufacturer for doing that. Having said that, it’s important to point out that younger children definitely need an adult or competent older brother or sister to provide help when they are playing with the train. They will need help when connecting the train cars to the locomotive and aligning the car wheels on the track. I have found that most toy trains be they powered by a transformer (electrified track) or by batteries benefit from an older helper. There is a small on-off slider switch on the back of the locomotive near the car coupler that requires reasonable dexterity. Our 2-1/2 year old granddaughter would not have been able to do this on her own. I always turned the power on and off for her. The remote control was very easy to use and worked well.I have some recommendations for the toy manufacturer. The only instructions for assembly are on the box and are very small and hard to read. Battery cover removal on the locomotive was not clear but I was able to figure it out. A separate instruction sheet with bigger pictures would be very helpful. I’d eliminate the one section of straight track with pop-up stop and replace it with a straight track. It stops the locomotive but does not turn off power so the wheels continue to spin. A younger child may not be able to turn the slider switch off and would waste batteries. All in all we are very pleased with the remote control train.

Our first train set
The media could not be loaded. We went to a local science museum and the kids were excited at seeing the engine exhibit. This toy set is the first train set we have bought. It’s a lot of fun for toddlers to play with. The size is bigger than I thought, which is fabulous. The remote can control the train to move forward or backward. The steam works once water is added. The kids also enjoy loading the carriage up with toys. Make sure the engine and carriages are well lined up on the tracks before letting it run. We had a couple of derailing before figuring out the tricks. Overall a good buy. However, I do wish that there were a separate switch on the engine itself. Losing the remote means the whole set will need to go to trash can. We couldn’t find the remote for a few days. Luckily the kids found it later.

It was okay
I bought this as a gift for my nephew who turned 8, the assembly of the tracks were super easy, however we kept having issues with the train staying on the tracks when it was in motion, we had to keep adjusting the train wheels on the track, because they kept coming off.

No Redeeming Qualities
I have had GREAT luck with items on Amazon, including smaller brands. I was incredibly disappointed when this product came in. Let me regale you with the story.Bottom Line Up Front: Train is junk, daughter is upset, and some vendor on Amazon has made me the bad guy.My daughter is a toddler who has become obsessed with choo-choo trains and grins ear-to-ear when she sees models in public. The look of her smiling face and beaming eyes when she hears that little whistle is intoxicating. When this set came in, I was probably just as excited as she was. The set went together easily enough, but that's where the positives end.I set everything up and immediately saw problems. The plastic is cheap feeling and flimsy. I held the train up to my wife and said, "Feel this." She said, "I don't have to. I saw the entire front of the locomotive flex when you barely tapped it." I loaded it up with batteries, since I didn't expect top-quality materials, and the motor roared to life! Did I say roar? I mean it moaned quietly and barely moved. Being an engineer, I immediately started looking for debris in the wheels or anything that would interfere with the unit. No luck. It was just a WOEFULLY underpowered electric motor. Honestly, from my work with small motors, it sounded like it was about to give out entirely.I tried several debugging tips (something that I feel I shouldn't have to do for a toy train) and tested the other functions of the train. None of them worked. The "smoke" didn't work and the sound was so poor that some of the effects couldn't be discerned. One sounded like a cheap car alarm. I suspected that somehow the sound files were corrupted but I can't be sure. I'd hate to think someone designed it this poorly intentionally.I went online to recheck the reviews and saw all the glowing responses. I was floored. MAYBE I got a bad unit. MAYBE I just happened to get one that literally subverted every already-low expectation I had. An alternative thought was that MAYBE this is one of those low-quality pieces of junk that is flooded with fake reviews. I don't know, and I don't particularly care. All I know was that the experience of packing up a toy train your daughter was excited to see while she wails and cries is heart wrenching. For a moment, I thought about keeping it as just a non-moving toy, but the materials honestly look so brittle that I'd worry for my child's safety.Save your kids... and yourself... the heartache. This is a terrible product and I'm honestly shocked it's been on the Amazon marketplace this long.OTHER NOTES:- My remote may have been faulty, but I had to hit any given button 2-4 times before it would respond.- The track is fine. It seems strong enough. The tolerance on the connectors is... suspect... but they seemed pretty robust.- Have to love the labels. I always wanted a "classical" train. Those are evident in the pictures so that shouldn't be a shock. Still worth noting.- Connecting the cars is a TAD annoying. You can see the connections between cars in the pictures, but I didn't realize how annoying it was until working them in person. Using a closed "pin and loop" means you have take the cars off the track to connect them or there is a high likelihood they derail.- The train randomly stopped. I couldn't tell if this was due to the underpowered engine or I'd there is a 30 second timeout. Either way, it was super odd.For anyone wondering, you can get a Lionel brand train for $10 cheaper than this. Lionel and Bachmann are the biggest brands in this area, so I'm sure they at least work. I went with this due to the superb reviews... which was a mistake. Learn from my error and steer clear. I haven't bought those so I can't attest to their quality, but they have to be better than this.

Fun
The media could not be loaded. The toy is easy to install, the motor is powerful and bigger than expected, and the train can emit smoke and whistle, which is very realistic. The remote control is sensitive. It is recommended that the switch keys be distinguished by other colors, or please specify, otherwise it is really difficult to find.
