The dimmer switch only work for about a day and a half. Not happy with my purchase.

Great item Would definitely recommend. I have several of these dimmer switches and have given as gifts. This item is compatible with all the working 3-way lamps I've tried. The key to getting the dimmer to work is: be sure the 3-way lamp has all the 3 levels working along with a fully functional 3-way bulb (led or incandescent), turn the lamp on to the highest setting, unplug from wall, plug in the dimmer to the outlet, then plug the lamp into the dimmer body, place the dimmer pad on a table top, tap top of silver pad or lightly squeeze the sides of the silver pad to adjust to proper brightest! Absolutely that simple and works every time. The pad can sometimes be very touch sensitive. The life span of the switch so far is great, I have 2 that I use everyday for the past 5 years with no problems. Having one on the night side stand is brilliant, so easy to tap on or off.

FIRST! Others mentioned not being able to get the touchpad to work (because they were likely only using only one finger). The touchpad does work! - Leave it plugged in for a minute - THEN - use 3 fingers! (think of a Boy Scout salute). The touchpad just needs more area of contact than one small finger. Also, you can use your thumb and forefinger on either side of the touchpad as if you're going to pick it up ... also activates it. 2 stars because the dimmer switch/touchpad will work - and give 3 levels of light... BUT! It absolutely would not turn off my LED dimmable lightbulbs. There was just too much amperage leaking through and wouldn't fully shut off my lamp. What a bummer. AND I CHANGED THE BULBS - TWICE! It didn't matter which brand or type I tried, this thing would not shut off my lamp. . . EVEN WORSE, it strobed! the flickering was so bad it was driving me nuts! - I ended up having to completely give up on this sorry P.O.S. -- NOW it's too late to send it back!!! The purpose of buying this DEWENWILLS touchpad control unit was because the outer casing on my lamp's on/off switch had been repaired once already and I'm not waiting for its inevitable demise. What a great idea to have a touchpad instead of a mechanical switch right? This would have been the perfect solution if it would completely cut off the power to the lamp, alas, this DEWENWILLS touch dimmer/touchpad control unit leaks enough power so any type of bulb I tried -- won't shut off, leaving me with low flickering AND WORSE . . . strobing light. I don't know if the wiring has a manufacturer's defect, but it definitely leaks. ** Update: I changed the previous LED dimmable bulbs to a new brand, new wattage LED bulbs. NO CIGAR. This unit will not shut off power to the lamp, it continues to leak enough power so the new bulbs continue to flicker and worse. WILL NOT SHUT OFF THE LIGHT! I'm sorry I wasted $10 . . . money that could have gone toward something useful. This thing is worthless. Save your money and go buy, or better yet, tell your family members when they ask what you need for your birthday or a holiday gift. I loath wasting money that I worked very hard for, this DEWENWILS Touch Dimmer Switch, Touch Pad Control is the worst purchase I've made in years. Eff me.

So, it works for the intended purpose. I was able to install this and remotely operate the puck lighting that was installed under my cabinets with the touch of a button. That part is really convenient. The responsiveness of the touchpad is great. You have to make intentional contact with the metallic touchpad to turn them on/off and I like that as it prevents accidental activation. I also appreciate the dimming effect. I have halogen puck lights attached to the switch and being able to dim them is a great option as they do get warm on the full brightness setting. The only downside is that the touch bad is hardwired to the control unit. The unit I was replacing had a touchpad that could be disconnected to make installation easier and reconnected after everything was put in place. In order to install this unit, I did have to cut the cord running to the touchpad and then splice it back together after installation. This is fine because it still works and is safe. But it would be more convenient to have a removable touchpad to make installation easier. If you need to run the cord through tight gaps - this might not be the best option.

This is a cool product. I have always hated reaching up into a lamp and fumbling for the switch. This makes it so much more convenient to switch the lamp on and off, and the dimming feature is an added bonus. As with all things dirt cheap, I wonder how long they will last but time will tell. NOTE: When I first started using them, one did not work correctly. The dimming feature didn't work, the touch pad was unreliable and it would just turn on the lamp on its own. But I installed a new extension cord that put my phone charger on the opposite side instead right beside this device and it started working normally. Apparently the phone charger was interfering with the operation of the unit. At least that's my guess. Overall, I think it's a fantastic product if it lasts a reasonable length of time. (Big IF)

I had 2 lamps with 3-way switches that were difficult to reach. When I saw these touch pads, I was very hopeful that a solution was at hand. I purchased two, and when I first plugged them in, I thought I was going to be disappointed because the pads appeared to be causing the lamps to flutter, flicker or fade in and out depending on the configuration of the switch on the lamp. Eventually I discovered that placing the lamp switch in the middle position, the light remained steady. By taping the pad once, I could make the light change from dim to somewhat brighter and taping it a second time actually dimmed the light very slightly, though not as dim as the first setting. And finally, tapping it a third time turned the lamp off. I figured I could live with that. Unfortunately, two weeks later one of the pads ceased to work. It still passed electricity through the plug to the lamp, but tapping the pad, had no effect whatsoever. They remaining pad, so far, still provides a good answer to my lamp problems. They have a low enough price tag, and the solution they provide is so perfect, that I’m willing to buy another with the hope that I just got hold of a bad one.

I thought I liked these at first, other than they don’t respond to touch instantly… there’s always a delay, and would have been better if you could long-touch to turn off lamp instead of having to go through 1 or 2 other steps of brightness to get to off… especially in dark room where you want dimmest, it’s jarring to have to turn it up and up to brightest before you get to off. None of that matters though if the product is a dud anyways, which these are. Thought the first one dying within a few months was just a lemon, but then second one died within months of using that one two, so in 11 months both died. And neither unit was ever moved or anything, and you only have to just lightly touch the metal pad, so it def was not issue of user error/abuse of product. So yeah, just became inoperable at one point and I tried unplugging and plugging back in, doing same with lamp plugged into dimmer, and no go. And the light I had plugged into lamp was only 75 watt light too, so that didn’t have anything to do with it.

After many years of use, It is still working, sometimes it can't react to my touch, but the problem is only temporal. Maybe the cable that connects the touch sensor could be a little stronger but, no problems after all this time.

Extreme fast delivery/Works gr8/I am using it to dim patio lights/ gives a like at night beside campfire effect. Because I am using outdoors I have modified unit using crazy glue to keep dimmer control fastened to face of unit , while keeping the control leads still package tied. Have waterproofed seams in plug unit with crazy glue and hope it will keep unit working in my sheltered from rain location . Very pleased with item and the low purchase price.

Bought this for my 90yr old mum. She can’t turn the lights off with the switch so I tried this. Much easier for her to turn on or off the lights now. :)

Just don’t last. Work great while they work. I’ve bought no less than 5 2 packs for seniors to make turning lamps on and off easier. Only a few are now working. They last a couple months to a couple years. Waste.
