LuuNguyen Backless Hardwood Bench (Natural Wood Finish)

This is a good product, well planned, well made and well packed. The package is heavy cardboard around another layer of cardboard. Parts inside are well secured. The wood is reasonably well cut and sanded. Key parts are mortised. Finish is oil; so one could lighten or darken the colour to suit. The wood is reasonably straight. The pilot holes for the screw nails are exactly in the right spots. Check the screw nails under the top slats; ours were a little bit loose. The hardware is typical Ikea-style. One of the plastic feet had dislodged and was easily hammered back on. Some of the staples for the feet were not fully driven home...fixed with a light tap from a hammer and rectangular drift. There was a tiny bit of excess oil on one of the boards and a bit of wood resin or filler on another; both cleaned up easily. We will buy two more; I could not make these for the price we paid.Update: Alas, this seller no longer offers this bench on Amazon and the other is unaffordable. I should have ordered all three at once but wanted to see one first. We found two matching ones elsewhere at a somewhat higher price than we originally paid.

I will start with the positive: these benches are beautiful! BUT, they are not as the picture shows, with wood braces connecting the legs at the ends and a connecting piece from one end to the other, as another reviewer said. We kept them anyway but that was our first mistake. They were purchased for a high school library and two of the benches broke within days of each other, with a leg completely cracking off. I had to go through the seller, as it's a 3rd-party company, and I have been denied a refund. After paying $537 we won from a PTA grant, I am not happy. The seller stated it was not for commercial use and not for, I believe, more than 250 pounds, which would mean two very light people. For the most part, only two students sit on them, but three slim students occasionally sit on them because they're long enough for that. The listing mentions nothing about "commercial use" and what difference does that make? There is also no weight limit listed. I will continue pursuing a refund because we can't afford to lose not only the money but the benches for our library but I'm writing this review as a warning. Seller must sell what he is showing in the picture or change the picture. And if he adds the weight limit, the other reviewers who stated they sat with well over 250 pounds, will be warned that their bench may crack.

Packaged well with the seat being completely assembled with a wood oil finish. Looks great! All we had to do was put the legs and cross bars on it. Wait! Where are the cross bars that are shown on the picture? And where would the crossbars go if they were even included? This is hard to explain in writing, but the legs that came are supposed to be attached from the inside of the frame to metal brackets, not as shown in the picture. The seat does not even rest against the top of the legs but only on the metal bracket and the bolts in the legs, which is also different from the picture. But we thought maybe it could work. After carefully attaching and tightening down the legs with the hardware included, the legs were twisted and crooked and leaning. Definitely not a safe bench for anyone, no matter their weight. My husband is a contractor with lots of experience in woodworking. We thought that maybe we could re-do the attachment of the legs to make it work but that wasn't possible either. If they sent the bench as shown in the photo, it would have been lovely. Sigh. Now to pack it all back up. Ugh!

The box arrived opened at one end and sort of damaged, but the product is double boxed with a thick inner box, so there was no damage from the abuse during shipping. It was so bad I took pictures before opening thinking it would be a return. The bench is much more than you can expect for the price and was fun to put together in about an hour. Mine is for the front porch (take your shoes off please), and it does have a bit of a smell from the stain on the wood, so if it will be indoors for you, there is a bit of stink in the beginning.

Stunning quality. Comes pre-assembled except for the four legs that attach easily. Do want to point out that the needed allen wrench was not included although it is on the "included parts" list. But, I do have such tools.

Beautiful! This arrived well packaged and undamaged. It is as pictured, good quality! Easy and quick to assemble and sets on my front porch. Very happy with it!!

Very Solid, very comfortable sitting on the front porch. will be buying another 1 or maybe even 2 for the backyard.
