Your cell phone can only dream of sounding this good
I have tried bluetooth headsets in the past, of varying qualities and price-points, but I have always been disappointed with them. The narrowband bluetooth audio codec leaves me struggling to hear and be heard, and the ones I've tested seem to add a vexing amount of delay.Enter the Savi, which uses DECT instead of bluetooth, and that makes a world of difference. Now, instead of being chained to my desk with a wired microphone or a short-ranged headset, I can get up and walk around anywhere in my house. The battery lasts me about six hours of continuous use.But it's not just about range and talk time: usability also matters. I find the Savi quite comfortable wear for its entire battery life, although the single-ear wear option doesn't feel particularly secure. The headset has noise cancellation that works well in rooms with air conditioners and fans that are loud enough to wreak havoc with my laptop's internal microphone. I even got in my car and drove it maybe ten feet before the called party noticed---and that's only because I lost my connection. All of this means that I am free to wander around and do things when I'm on the phone---without worrying that I'm transmitting a ton of noise. This makes holding long conversations a lot more convenient and natural. If you pair it with a high-quality, 1080p webcam, it's the next-best thing to actually being there. In terms of downsides, the mute button is a little hard to press in, and the hardware up/down buttons don't seem to change the volume a whole lot. You can adjust the volume more on your computer, just like any other audio device. The audio is on par with a very good landline telephone connection, which makes sense given its DECT innards. Still, if you're looking to listen to music or movies, you're probably better off buying a device that is designed for that purpose. The headset is fully linux-compatible, although on Ubuntu 13.04 it is necessary to add some lines to your xorg.conf file to get it to work correctly.I don't know how the Savi compares against other high-end wireless headsets, but it has absolutely been worth every penny.

I have four and they're all broken in the same way
I've owned three or four of these. I have to have that many because they keep breaking. This would be the perfect headset if not for the horrible, terrible, no good build quality. At $300+/ea they should not break this quickly—and they only have a one year warranty! The good:* Great audio quality (put it in wideband mode)* Great noise canceling* Great range* Works basically effortlessly on my Mac with Skype for Business* Very lightweight and comfortable* Great to travel withThe bad:* Build quality on all parts is AWFUL. Like to mute using the headset? The very flimsy volume rocker/mute button on the headset *will* start breaking for you, maybe even within just a couple months. When it starts to break you'll press it once to mute/unmute but it'll act like you pressed it two or three times (like bad switch debouncing, for the EEs). Eventually the headset will start *reseting* when you change the volume or hit the mute button, causing the headset to disconnect for 10–20 seconds, during which time you can't hear or talk and the person on the other end thinks you just hung up on them. The USB audio receiver is similarly fragile: the hinge will break on it, even if you never actually reorient it. I've also had the button on the receiver break so that it can apparently no longer be pressed. I'm not doing motorcycle stunts while wearing these things. I don't take them off and throw them at the charger from across the room. I don't think I'm mistreating them, but I'm on my fourth headset. Why did I buy four? What is wrong with me?UPDATE 2018-03-08: I previously mentioned battery problems, but I think I just needed a new battery. I am getting longer talk time now. I'm not sure how much longer, but I'd say at least an hour more. It's nice you can just replace the battery on these units. However, *something* I did with Plantronics Hub, maybe a firmware update or maybe not, has made it so I hear myself through the earpiece when I talk. Loudly. It's very distracting. Plantronics support is thus far unhelpful. Looks like it's going to be time for headset #5...Please don't buy this product.

Comfortable, easy to install, and it's a Plantronics
I've been a Plantronics user for a long time, from working in call centers to having one at my desk in the office, and now this one for when I work from home. Plantronics is practically standard issue in corporate offices because of their call quality, comfort and reliability. Connection stayed strong from the home office in the back of the house to the living room in the front in a 2000 sq. foot single floor home. USB is plug and play, no drivers need to be installed (which is great since I can't install anything on my work laptop). Works well with Avaya OneX, as the Plantronics website indicates. Lots of ways to wear it, I used the behind-the-head option and recently wore it for an all day long conference call and it was barely noticeable, even with glasses on. If you will be using it for long calls, I also recommend the Plantronics 84601-01 Base Deluxe Charging Kit WH500W440W740 as you can swap out batteries and remain on the call.
