4 Months Review
I had to rely on several reviews in my decision to try this product(I usually don't write reviews and this is an honest review: I will update it at 1 and 3 months as I have had it only for few days). Because of the potential convenience (added safety to driving from not looking down at wires) I was willing to pay the price but several reservations/ questions were noted in reviews. Let me answer some of the questions(I came across) one by one: 1. Installation: very easy ( I am not a tech geek). Connect to usb, follow instructions. was setup in 10 mins. (Only thing I wish is a longer wire came with it although doesn't matter in CRV as Apple car play USB is in console). 2. Turns on every time I start the car: NO need to connect every time. Smooth, takes about the same time as the stock Honda Infotainment system. quicker or same time than if you count the time to connect to car play via wire. 3. No lag: I have been playing music nearly all the time I am in the car. No lag. 4. No effect from any bumps on the road: sound quality remains the same ( and great). 5. Once car turns off (like any usb connected device) it turns off. (again this depends on car make/model/settings if USB ports stay on or off). In my case it turns off so no concern for draining battery. 6. certainly worth the price as I have been using the Listening/ Dictating feature more easily as I don't have to connect the wire, and the phone can stay in my pocket and the phone doesn't shift around in the car. Addition at 4 months: Great ! I was very hesitant to buy this product, however in 4 months, it has worked seamlessly. I have also discovered several features which are really nice: as below: I can say this for a Honda CRV 1. If you have more than 1 users for a car (and phones) and you set them all up with it, actually a little menu pops up at start up and it gives you option to choose which phone to connect if (both phones in the car). 2. It connects automatically with every user. 3. Audio is clear, no lag, no issues It is worth the price, it adds to driving safety. Important accessory. Certainly recommend!

Easy Setup, Long time to connect
***Update*** After two weeks, the product stopped connecting. I tried to re-pair with the same result. The connection time, for me, was about 45 seconds. That’s not convenient enough to move away from a plugged in phone. I returned the product yesterday. This is very easy to set up and when active, functions just like wired car play. I had no issues going through instructions or getting my phone to connect. When I used it the first time post set up, it took 30-40 seconds to connect, now mind you, it’s not the end of the world but worthy of note if you’re someone, like me, who wants things immediately and enjoys certain comforts. No issues with the interface, just wish it connected faster!

UPSATED: works great, BUT some loss of audio quality
UPDATED: I got another version for a 2022 Toyota Sienna. Same minor audio quality downgrade as the previous version, but nothing horrible. They seemed to have improved the setup process - its a lot easier now. A slight hesitation/delay when navigating Carplay menus, but it's wireless, so it's not unexpected. Overall, it's a very usable wireless CarPlay conversion. It's important to note that this little wireless CarPlay dongle works as advertised and it's actually pretty impressive. For reference, I have a 2018 RAM 1500 with Uconnect 8.4, so the experience should be the same on most Uconnect vehicles. There are two cons that will likely make me return the device. The first one has to do with the setup, that's awkward at best. Then, there is setting it up with two devices (like if you are not the only one using the car). I am yet to figure out how to make it work right. It's not an issue if you connect another device by a cable. The deal breaker for me is a very noticeable loss of quality when playing music. I guess, it's not surprising, considering you are going from a wired connection to a Bluetooth, HOWEVER there are better Bluetooth protocols available. For example, when play wirelessly via the above mentioned Uconnect, it's not nearly as bad. The bottom line: if the audio quality isn't that important to you and you use CarPlay for Nav/other connectivity, once you get past he setup, you'll be fine. If you enjoy your music, I'd stick to the wire.

About A Week So Far….But I love it!
UPDATE AT THE END In the past, with trying to use my car’s wired CarPlay, I have had problems even with trying multiple connection cords (Apple brand and Anker brand) as they often they can be “touchy”, especially over time. I’m also getting in and out of the car often throughout the day so this makes my life so much easier as I don’t have to try and plug/unplug the phone each time or go without the CarPlay just to save time from the cord. I’m incredibly happy with this purchase (so far) but it has only been one day so time will tell and I will update this review if needed. I had no issue with setting this adapter up—I just plugged it in and connected my phone to the bluetooth name displayed when the adapter was plugged into the CarPlay usb port. I set it up yesterday and have used it all day today without any issues of having to reconnect the bluetooth or anything. I’m curious for how it will work when/if someone else wants to connect their phone to my car’s CarPlay instead but I’m hoping that will go smoothly as well. For reference, I have a 2019 Toyota Rav4 with standard radio system (not JBL one). UPDATE: It’s been about a week so far and it’s been going well! My only issue is that sometimes the CarPlay will not start up right away when I start the car. This used to happen when I plugged my phone in as well which I attributed to a cord issue but it might just be an issue with my car’s radio system. I have tried to unplug the adapter and plug it back in AND/OR I just restart the car radio and this solves the issue. My phone continues to connect with the adapter every day without needing to manually connect it on the phone so it’s honestly been a great experience overall! Thank you for this piece of technology! It’s made my life so much easier!

Works great…when it connects
I bought this CarPlay receiver to use in my 2018 Mazda CX-5. I bought the CarPlay upgrade for my car through Mazda, not a 3rd party, so its the OEM carplay module. I don’t think that’s all that important, but just in case, it applies to you. The good… It works as well as it does when it’s wired directly to the car. The bad… I took a star off my review for a few reaons. First, pairing it to my iPhone 11 was not easy, it would fail pairing numerous times even though the code would come up like it should and then instantly fail pairing. Turning off and on bluetooth and wifi would allow it to finally connect. Second, the receiver doesn’t always reconnect to my phone. Sometimes it gets stuck in this loop of searching, not found, searching, not found… when this has happened, i had to re-pair the device with my phone which sometimes resulted in the pairing issue happening again. Finally, the last reason for 4 stars is it takes a while for the device to connect assuming none of the other issues mentioned above happen. Granted, I anticipated a little increase in the startup time due to the fact that it’s an intermediate device between the Mazda system and my phone, but its a good minute or two before my phone and the device sync up. In conclusion of my rating, I would buy this thing again because despite the connection issues at times, when it works, the wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay is fantastic. No more cable! Follow up: After having this for a couple months now, I stand by that when it works it’s great, but I’ve recently experienced some serious lag between my phone and the screen. It’s really annoying. I’m taking another star off my original 4 star review.

It works well..if you drive a Volvo XC60
I purchased this unit because my Volvo XC60 doesn't offer wireless CarPlay. I had read mixed reviews and decided to try this unit on my own. The first thing I did was to order a better connector cable. The one that comes with the unit is barely two inches long and would make it difficult to make a good connection because the USB port is inside the center console and the cable included would barely reach it. The initial connection was very simple. I just followed the instructions that came in a little flyer with the unit and I got a solid Bluetooth connection right away. I'm not experiencing any significant delay while listening to podcasts. There may be a slight delay, of two or three seconds, when skipping tracks on Apple Music. I have to say I don't use any navigation apps because I'm still using the native Volvo system for driving directions. I'm not experiencing any dropouts. When I step in the car, the connection is recognized within ten seconds. Volvo asks me then to choose between a wired or wireless connection. I choose wireless and after another ten to fifteen seconds, I click on the CarPlay app on my display and it goes back to the last app I was using when it opens. I'm pleased with the unit's performance in general and I would not go back to wired. At least in my car, the unit delivers as promised.

2018 Honda Accord - Works great even with phone in pocket
The installation should be simple but for some reason it required 10+ tries before it started working. It had power because a red light on the unit lit up, but it would not bring up the expected screen on the device. Then, without me knowing what I had changed, it just started working. On my phone I had to go into bluetooth connections and "forget" the car. Or maybe the cable was loose. Not sure. The accord has two USB ports that work with CarPlay, one in the front and the other in the glove box between the seats. This unit works in both. I can move it to either USB port and it works fine. Since it first started working, it has worked perfectly. When I start the car, it automatically connects. I don't do anything. No buttons to push, nothing to connect. Phone can stay in my pocket. It takes about 30-35 seconds and CarPlay just starts up automatically. So far I haven't noticed any lag time. The sound might be a little less crisp, not really sure. The convenience of just having it work without even removing phone from my pocket is great.

WARNING Does NOT work with all cars as described
The description clearly reads that this will work for my model and make car. I have a 2018 Mazda with dealer installed Carplay and the unit only powers up but does not connect, light remains red. Seller did not respond to my written request for assistance, seller phone number does not work, Amazon Customer service could not contact the seller, my only recourse was to contact seller. Even manufacture website will not respond. Posting questions online did get some responses but still no help to get it working. I've bought two different Carlink models neither will work, I don't understand all the good reviews on this product.
