Pistol or rifle it works.
Exactly as advertised. With my NVG on this laser is easy to aim and does not loose zero. Very bright full function white light. 300-1350 lumens with strobe. The laser is very bright under NVG. Recommended.

Upgrade to the previous version
I bought this because somehow I lost my previous version, but this seems like a nice upgrade. I don't have NVGs so I won't be using the IR anytime soon, but nice to know the capability is there. That said the lumens and throw might be described as overkill by many, but I think it's great when it needs to work. You can choose between high/low/strobe as well (which is a must in my opinion). Also, LOVE the quick attach/release, so no messing with screws. Overall, for the price, I think this is a winner.

Good quality cheap-ish light/IR laser. Take out the battery spacer to use regular CR123A!
This is a relatively good quality light. I have read some misleading advertisements for it stating that it has an IR light, it does not. This is a regular, white LED light with an additional IR laser. I've also read lots of complaints about standard CR123A batteries not fitting. While this is true, there is a spacer in the bottom of the battery well that can be removed and they fit just fine. It's a sticky little round pad, pull that out and you are GTG. Overall, a very good value for anything IR-wise. Your next best comparable is going to be at least $300.

Visible light, IR Laser. Most affordable IR option.
Great light. Only thing I would have changed is it would be better if the flashlight was an IR illuminator instead of visible light. I can't think of many situations where I'd want to aim discreetly but give away my position with a visible flashlight beam.Still, this is going to be the most affordable option for an IR laser in a good quality package. There is a small LED indicator on the housing that tells you when the laser is active. You will need some kind of night vision or camera technology in order to sight this in. The easiest way to do this is if your iron sights are already zeroed, just align the beam so it lines up with the iron sights at the range you are most likely to use it, and you are good to go.If you don't have any night vision, some cell phone cameras can detect the IR laser and you can align it that way. This is also helpful in case you don't want to fiddle with all that gear just to set up your laser.

I like this light a lot but have had a hard time finding a holster that works with this particular light

Olight Baldr IR
I use the nightfox swift for night vision. The IR setting is really nice and I can see it to the limits of my nightfox which is about 140 yards with a good illuminator. I’m sure you can see the laser further than that with a better night vision setup. The white light is super bright and very good. I would highly recommend this if you are looking into getting your feet wet with an entry level setup.
