You'll need a 1/8" pilot hole
These are standard size for Pelican kayak seat eyes, so work perfect for that or other similar setups. I only docked a star because they came with zero instructions for best usage. For new installations, at least in plastic, you should drill a 1/8" pilot hole at the screw locations. I based this on what drill bit fit into an existing hole so I knew what to use when adding additional mounts. Hand tighten only to prevent stripping the hole out.
