Yea - A book about Dragons I finally finished!!!!
I work with dragons, or more specifically, they work with me and on me. I have read any pagan/wiccan book that alludes to Dragons that I have come across and have always felt myself disappointed, horrified, or laughing. This book does not have any ridiculous meditations to 'find' your dragon, it is not based on the author's dragon fiction preferences (Dragon's do not need keepers), it is a work written from the heart, which honors the dragon energies. It sets them in a Wiccan framework, which is my preferred path. His history of dragons is concise, just over a page's worth. It doesn't try to weave together a history from all the dragon tales set down through the eyes of the Church. It is written in a concise manner - there are many pages for notes. Like Scott Cunningham's books, it's easy to read, gives you a framework for working with the energy and cuts out all the embroidered matter I find in other books. It is more than evident that this guy knows the energies he is talking about and respects them for what they are.My hat is off to Parker J Torrence - and many thanks for a book on dragons that I will be able to recommend.

THE book on working with Dragons and Dragon magick. ...
THE book on working with Dragons and Dragon magick. This isn't fluff and fantasy. Torrence goes into some detail with the understanding the reader isn't new to the basics of working with Dragons. Definitely a must have for a magicians book shelf.

Not all Witches are Wiccans...
I was looking for a book about general dragon magick - not a book of Wiccan traditions about Dragons. I’m sending it back for that alone.

Fresh take on Wiccan Dragon Magick
For a long time there's really only been one book, "Dancing with Dragons" by DJ Conway, written for those who wish to include dragons in their magickal practice, and people either seemed to LOVE it, or HATE it. Parker J. Torrence approaches the material from an entirely different perspective (albeit still a Wiccan one), one that is at once more minimalistic, and imaginatively expansive. Not choosing to assign specific names to the dragons he calls upon, Torrence invites the practitioner to discover these beings for oneself. What makes the path particularly interesting is his inclusion of the Sea, Land and Sky dragons, in addition to the elemental dragons of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. The Sea, Land, and Sky dragons act as links to the past, present, and future respectively. By including them in circle work, the practitioner can tap more readily into the various realms of time-space during each and every working, opening them up to and informing their rituals with a more multi-dimensional experience. Both a plus and a minus to the book, in my opinion, is that the author presents the ideas and methods, and leaves those with the reader with very little exposition. Stating from the very first page that this book is not intended for novice practitioners, Torrence leaves the great bulk of the material for the reader to discover through their own experiential work. For readers who are used to having scores of "historical" and atmospheric filler, long explanations, and endless pages of pre-written and wordy rituals, this book may well dissapoint. Those who can spend the time to really ruminate and experiment with the information and ideas presented by Torrence, this book may well be a breath of very fresh draconic air.

Disappointed
I was extremely disappointed with this book. I have worked through Conway's books about dragon magic, and was hoping for more information on the matter. While Torrence has several good ideas, the book itself seems like a good start. That's it, just a start. The book seems unfinished, and contains grammatical errors. Lots of information is repeated in several places. Some ideas are dropped in among other ideas with no explanation regarding correlation between the ideas. Other ideas are started but then left hanging with no explanation or further information. The last third of the book has every other page blank for the reader's own notes for a "book of shadows." That's a lot of empty space!I'm a slow reader, and I read the entire book in 3 hours. I wish I had seen the book in person first, as I probably would not have bought it.

Dragons make good friends
Recommended highly to me by a Dragon High Priestess. This dark colored book has already snuck things past my usual defenses that I've never let in before and the fact that they work is a huge bonus. Kudos to the author from a fellow sailor and student of the arts. "Show me the way to go home. I'm tired and I want to go to bed....."
