Mandatory addition to scaffold ladder rungs
This scaffold was just the structure necessary to complete my 14' tall quonset hut. The built-in ladders are sturdy enough for five people to climb up at once, but they had ZERO texture on each step. The slick powder-coating was as smooth as glass and did not inspire confidence when searching for footing or a sure grip. You'd think a scaffold manufacturer would apply some sort of texture to these ladder pieces where they're meant to be climbed. I purchased this tape in attempt to keep my spine intact upon dozens of ladder climbs. I applied it several weeks ago and I'm confident in writing a thorough review. Application: These scaffold ladder rungs had caked on oils and mud caked on all twelve steps. I started at the top and did two rungs at a time, holding onto the side-bar while I worked. The first step was a baby wipe for all debris and the bulk of the filth. This was followed by an alcohol wipe to remove all remaining oils. I cut this 1" wide tape to round the corners and avoid peeling and placed it from side to side on each 29" wide ladder step. Two steps at a time allowed me to hang from the side while working on each two on the way down. Function: We've climbed this scaffold on both sides with mud-covered boots and drips of machine oil smeared on the bottom of our soles. Without this tape, we were worried about slipping even with clean shoes. With this product, we are confident to climb with any condition of footwear. The texture resembles 80-grit sandpaper, as advertised. It isn't very comfortable on bare hands, but it is meant for safety and security; not comfort. Durability: It has stormed three times since I applied the tape and most sunny days in between have been 105-115 degrees. The intense heat hasn't caused any peeling or degradation, nor has the stormy weather and high winds. You can see the mess left by the (near tornado-strength) wind at the base of the scaffold in my picture. This product has also sustained three people climbing quickly and violently up to the top for days on end without a single peeled edge or slippage. This review is too long already, but in my particular use: This stuff is a literal lifesaver. The workers loved it, even though only one climbed it before this grip tape was applied. The new guys assume it came standard on the scaffold. Personally, I am still surprised they sell scaffold over ten feet high without any texture on the ladder rungs. 5/5 stars for an economical and quality product.

Good solution for slippery surface, easy to install
Great solution for homeowner small projects. Our shed ramp gets damp with morning dew and I recently slipped and fell badly. Now the problem is solved! Tape cuts easily with scissors - be sure to cut the corners round so they don’t get nudged and peel up later - and the included pressure roller is sufficient for getting good adhesion. I wasn’t sure if I’d have enough tape for all planks (didn’t care enough to do the math) so I started by doing every other plank then went back and drilled in the empties. I’m pleased!

Very sticky. Works good on flat surfaces.
It would probably be best if used on flat surface or a slight incline. I used it on a steep incline ramp for my mower and it peeled loose. The adhesive is very sticky. So, I believe it was not the fault of the product, just the wrong application.

Good adhesive backing.
Good adhesive backing. The tape adhered nicely to old and weathered wooden trailer ramps. Time will tell how well it holds up.

Finally feel safe going up and down my stairs
My back steps were basically a death trap when they got wet - slippery as ice and I'd already taken a couple scary falls. This grip tape has been a total game changer for safety. Installation was way easier than I expected. Just clean the surface, peel and stick. The adhesive is seriously strong - I was worried it might not stick well to my concrete steps but it's been on there for 6 months through rain, snow, and ice and hasn't budged at all. The 4 inch width is perfect for stairs. Covers enough of the step to actually make a difference but doesn't look weird or take up the whole surface. 35 feet gave me plenty to do my whole staircase plus some extra strips for problem areas. The grip is legit too. Even when the steps are soaking wet I feel totally confident walking on them now. My boots grab onto it really well and I haven't had even a close call since putting it down. It's held up great to weather and foot traffic. Still looks good and the texture hasn't worn down even though we use these steps constantly. The black color hides dirt well too so it doesn't look gross after a few months. Only complaint is that it can collect leaves and debris in the textured surface, but that's pretty minor. Just need to sweep it off occasionally. Also cutting it to fit each step perfectly took some patience, but that's more about me wanting it to look neat than the product being difficult to work with. For the price this was such a good investment. Way cheaper than dealing with a broken bone from falling down stairs, and now I don't have to think twice about going outside when it's wet. Would definitely recommend if you have slippery steps or walkways. Peace of mind is worth it.

Disappointed. Short life of product.
I purchased this tape in 2024 and installed it on clean painted surfaces. Short pieces worked but long pieces have become unglued 2-years later.

My Stairs Tried to Kill Me, But This Tape Said “Not Today.”
Listen. My outdoor steps were basically an ice-themed escape room. Every winter morning was a game of “Will I make it down alive?” I usually did… but not always gracefully. So one night — ONE VERY LATE NIGHT — we decided enough was enough. It was freezing, pitch black, and we were out there like two determined raccoons trying to stick anti-slip tape to stairs at 2 a.m. because we had a delivery coming early the next morning and didn’t want the delivery guy sliding into the afterlife. We didn’t think it would stick. IT WAS -AreYouSerious°C. We cleaned the stairs. We stuck the tape. We stared at it like: “Okay… glue… I believe in you…?” Then we went to bed fully expecting it to fall off overnight. Next Morning: A Plot Twist We opened the door, looked down… AND THE TAPE WAS PERFECTLY GLUED. Not a bubble. Not a lift. Not a single “oops.” It adhered like it had something to prove. The Grip? OH. MY. GOD. Imagine sandpaper. Now imagine sandpaper that lifts weights and has life goals. That’s the texture. You put your boot on it and your foot just locks in place like it’s signing a rental agreement. Even with snow stuck in the treads — zero slip. ZERO. Size Matters (and 4 inches is the sweet spot) We put it right at the edge of each step so even people who step only on the tip (why are people like this?!) don’t go flying. Covers half my foot. Perfect. Looks surprisingly good Instead of looking like a construction project, it actually gives the stairs a clean, uniform, “we care about not dying” aesthetic. Downside? We installed it at the coldest possible time of night like irresponsible DIY goblins. We doubted the glue. But the glue believed in itself. So the downside is really just: don’t be like us. Install it during daylight like a normal human. VERDICT This tape saved my dignity, my tailbone, and possibly a delivery worker’s life. I would recommend. No more winter slip ’n slide. My stairs no longer have the upper hand. Also, the picture show what was LEFT of the tape AFTER I covered the stairs!
