EZGO Golf Cart Powerwise Charger Board - Control Input

This brought my charger back to life!

After watching a you tube video about my dead golf cart battery charger we ordered this. The video gave clear instructions and saved up a large amount of money.

When a new set of batteries failed to correct issues I had with my older EZGO Powerwise Charger, I took it in for repair. While waiting for the repair service's assessment, I thought I'd take a look at what new charger boards cost vs buying a new charger, so I'd be able to make an informed decision. The next day I was told, sure enough, I needed a new board and the cost of the board, through their regular supplier, would be over $100. I had just seen this board for less than half that price so I asked them if they minded if I supplied the board; they agreed, we double-checked the part number and that I could return the part if it was not the right one for my unit. Ordered the board on Friday, it was delivered to the repair service on Monday and my charger was fixed the same day--all for less than what a "regular" golf cart part supply firm charged for the board alone! The repair guy said he was impressed by the quality of the board; that it was better than the original (it was an older model and the technology for making these things has really improved, but this is a well-made board). If you are on the fence about ordering, this part is small and lightweight, so it would not cost much to return ship by USPS if necessary. I also feel better knowing Performance Plus Carts offers a year warranty.

After doing some research, and by research I mean googling a bunch of stuff,I learned that these charger boards are often the culprit for why your powerwise golf cart charger isn't working. So I purchased one, and then watched a video on YouTube to "learn" how to switch mine out.I have to say that it was pretty darn easy to install, on a scale of 1-10 , with 10 being the most difficult this would land around a 3.5 difficulty level. Now I will say that I am somewhat "technically advanced" but I do think most people could do this themselves, especially because you dont have to solder anything, and you can get step by step directions on YouTube.After swapping out the old one with the new one( which took me roughly 20min), I crossed my fingers plugged it into my golf cart and then into the wall...Eureka! It worked perfectly! I would recommend taking a picture of everything before you tear it apart, so you can use the picture as a guide. Overall it is good quality, and does exactly what it supposed to do. Plus by purchasing this on Amazon and installing it myself I saved over $100!

So I learned a costly lesson not to leave my golf cart charging for an extended amount of time. My charger didn't shutoff and boiled my batteries dry and ruined them after about a week. I bought new batteries and the charger still didn't shutoff it would go down to about 3 AMPS and stay there. So I did like everyone else and searched Google to find out what could be wrong. I tried cleaning the plug radsok's but that didn't help in my case so I purchased this controller board. FIXED!My charger now shuts off when the batteries are charged so now I can properly break-in my new batteries. If I have any issues with this controller board I'll be sure to report back.*** UPDATE ***I'm changing my review from 5 stars to 3 because this board only lasted 4 months before the relay went out. Also it looks like moisture may have wrecked havoc on the board since it had no conformal coating. The replacement board I ordered from the same company had a coating to protect from moisture so we'll see how long it last. Very easy to replace in my PowerWise charging unit. Charger cycles on and off correctly and amp input varies as it should during the charge cycle. An ohm meter and YouTube will help tremendously to troubleshoot the few parts that go bad, and to insure that a new circuit board fixes your issue.Pay attention during removal of the old board and it should go smoothly. It takes more time to disassemble the charger housing than it does to change out this board. Be gentle with the plastic retaining clips during removal of the existing board as you will need them for re-installation. This board does not ship with any.new ones.Assuming that anyone buying this part will know that once you replace it, your charger will still not turn on - until you plug it into your cart. No power flows until that connection is made.

It arrived quickly. I must assume at this time that it works because, as it turns out, I didn't need it. The unique nature of the 36v Power Wise charger is that it does not work on dead batteries. I had to charge the batteries with 3 12v chargers set up in parallel to give them a partial charge, then the Power Wise kicked in. I ordered the board because I thought there was a problem with the charger, turned out it was me...

Arrived on time. Perfect fit, easy to install & most importantly it works. I utubed the trouble shooting to find the problem & the board fixed it. Much cheaper than a new or used charger.
