FlossGrip Dental Floss Holder (Green)

Update to my original review: After 5 months this product broke. I loved it. I reached out to the seller today 7/14/24 to see if they will replace. I will update this review if I hear back from seller and they rectify. I heard back from seller asap. They were prompt in sending me a replacement flosser. I hope my replacement flosser lasts. I have long fingernails and it is very difficult to floss. I used to use Listerine Reach Ultra Clean Flosser tool. I was lucky to get through both my lower and upper teeth without the floss breaking. I have very tight teeth. It got expensive always having to purchase replacement flossers. Once you make the initial purchase including shipping this tool pays for itself after awhile. I tried over the counter dental floss with this tool but it kept shredding and breaking plus the floss would not hold tight in this tool. I discovered on Amazon “Pilksters Gorilla Floss” 150m. It is amazing. The combination of this floss and tool works perfect. One tip, I cut the floss in the center when I’m done flossing then use tweezer’s to unravel the floss from the sides of this tool. Works great!

I came across this flosser after a deep Amazon search looking for a more environmentally friendly flossing method. I liked using the plackers flossing picks because I have a small mouth and it's difficult to reach my back teeth by standard flossing methods. But I absolutely hated the amount of plastic waste they produce! I would feel like a real jerk every time I bought them even though it was for basic dental hygiene. I decided to look into disposable flossers. The ones I found looked like they were straight up plastic. I decided not to buy those. I ended up looking through floss holders and found this guy! I liked that it looked like it used very little floss (it does) and not be super bulky during use (it's amazing). It's plastic but it feels durable enough to last me a few years if not a lifetime! It's the best solution to flossing I've been able to find. It produces way less plastic than any other product. I actually look forward to flossing now that I have this!! That's how awesome it is! 1: this is an excellent flosser and it flosses like a champ 2: the point was to not waste plastic with little plastic disposables and being reusable is fantastic. It is a sturdy and robust flosser. I will never need to buy another. 3: instructions say to pull out 5” of floss so you can use about 1.5”. So now I’m not wasting plastic and landfill space but I AM wasting floss. I do like it quite a bit. I am ancient and my hands cramp at odd moments and I do love having a long-handled flosser.

This is kind of hard to use because the floss slips. I may need to practice more but it's kind of annoying to use. Not sure if it's really worth the effort.

Expensive piece of plastic I threw in the trash. Too large to use properly, the tips are flimsy, and lots of floss is wasted trying to get it tight on the tool.

This tool is vastly superior to those of similar design - where you wind your own floss - and in a class all its own compared to the wasteful disposable ones. Compared to those with similar design - or flossing by hand especially, this one only uses a scant few inches of floss saving you money, and compared to the disposables, you can choose the floss that suits you best rather being stuck with their razor sharp junk. Additionally, (1) this one holds the floss far more stabley compared to all others of similar design. I found others require you to rewind the floss at least once during each session since it keeps slipping out, (2) its longer handle and overall geometry makes placing between teeth easier than it's competition, and (3) the thoughtful built-in pinch-while-winding tensioning feature creates the perfect tension every time. I do not have a large mouth, I'd say it's average or smaller than average so I'm not sure why other reviewers call this too bulky. I actually enjoy flossing now rather than dreading having to shove my hands in my mouth unable to floss correctly. I would give this tool my strongest recommendation - and that is saying a lot I am very picky.

Honestly I think this would be better if 1) it were made with a stiffer plastic, and 2) were a bit wider when tightly wrapped (I bump my gums on back teeth). As it stands, they're hard to get tight enough that you don't jab your gums with the tips.

I’ve had this flosser for a few years now (about 3 years since I ordered my first one) and it saves me so much floss and avoids hurting my fingers from having to wrap floss around them instead. I’ve used other flossers, but this one actually holds the floss so well, I can get a good 3-4 flossing sessions from the same piece if I wanted. I also don’t need to use as much floss since it’s a smaller surface area to wrap each end around the flosser rather than around fingers. My personal tip for the most effective use: I usually pinch the two ends and wrap the floss (almost) as tightly as possible— not too much though! To keep the floss tense enough not to loosen, because sometimes it can loosen as you floss if not tight enough to begin with. Too tight and you cannot get the flosser to go around your gums (see photo) Side note: My first flosser started to peel the top coating layer of plastic after time, but doesn’t affect the quality or function of the device. I still use it fine (see photo). It took some time, at first, to get accustomed to the feel of this flosser in the mouth; I stabbed myself (not seriously, though) a few times in the gum before getting a hang of it, but it really is worth it. Its just a matter of holding the flosser’s curved end into the side you wish to floss (if that makes sense); in other words, don’t point the curvature of the flosser against the direction of which you intend to floss & switch the curved end when switching between L and R sides of your mouth to get the most comfortable angle. I know there’s a bit of shipping to pay for the flosser, but it’s been worth it to me. I just came back to buy myself a backup (even though this thing is virtually indestructible) as well as some for my husband and family! Hope this review helps, since there was none yet!

I've been looking for a more eco-friendly way of flossing my teeth as the normal floss pickers are obviously single use disposable plastic and using the winding floss around my fingers technique is so awkward it just puts me off flossing. I was a little sceptical but this is really easy to use, just make sure you have a good floss to use this with! I was using the geoorganics floss which, even without the floss holder, would fray and break too easily. When I tried using it with this floss holder I'd have to change it 10x to get my whole mouth done. Luckily I've found another eco-friendly (Bamboo) floss that doesn't break and works really well with it (Kliara bamboo). Definitely recommend this especially as its very reasonably priced!

Viele andere Zahnseidehalter haben schlechte Rezensionen bekommen, weil die Zahnseide angeblich nicht hält und unter dem Druck enger Zwischeräume "nachrutscht". Das kann ich mir gut vorstellen, wenn ich mir die Gabeln der Halter so anschaue. Beim FlossGrip Zahnseidenhalter gibt es das Problem nicht. Die Zahnseide wird an einer Seite umgewickelt und durch den kleinen Spalt gezogen. Dann wird die Gabel etwas zusammengedrückt und die Zahnseide an der anderen Seite ebenfalls durch den Spalt gezogen, anschließend 5-6 Mal umgewickelt und noch mal durch den Spalt gezogen. Bei diesem Vorgehen hält die Zahnseide "bombenfest" und ist auch straff. Der einzige Nachteil dieses Halters ist die Größe. Er ist sehr breit. Man muss den Mund ganz schön weit aufreißen. Aber das ist für mich kein Grund, diesen Artikel nicht zu kaufen. Hier hat sich jemand bei der Konstruktion Gedanken gemacht. Es funktioniert!! Deshalb fünf Sterne.

Ce porte fil est vraiment très pratique. Malgré son look il est en réalité parfaitement bien en bouche où il permet d'accéder parfaitement à tous les espace interdentaires aussi bien au fond vers les molaire que devant entre incisives et canines. J'ai eu le modèle concurrent Butler GUM Flossmate mais la comparaison entre les deux est sans appel : 1/ Le GUM est plus large, beaucoup moins pratique en bouche, donc au final moins efficace que ce FlossGrip. 2/ Le GUM utilise au moins trois fois la longueur de fil nécessaire pour le FlossGrip, ce qui permet de n'acheter qu'un rouleau de fil là où on en achète trois avec le GUM ou avec les doigts seuls sans porte fil (30 à 40 cm pour les deux méthode) Bref, un super porte fil hautement recommandable !

This is an excellent product. HOWEVER, you do need to know how to use it properly: 1. read the manual. the instructions on the manual is correct, especially the way how the floss should be put on. I found 3 rounds is min, better with 4 rounds on each leg. and make sure you squish the legs before you put on the floss to the other leg, this way the floss will be tight enough when done. you can adjust the tension of the floss by how much you squish. 2. you do need to practice enough times to learn how to use it efficiently. comparing to hand floss, this product is a fixed and stiff floss fork. so when you try to slide the floss in between your teeth, like I have a tight teeth, you need to know the angle, and it's 3D, hence you need to adjust the angle both horizontally and vertically. and once you found the angle, you need to practice enough times to remember it. 32 teeth, 30 angles !! The molar teeth take the most efforts. It took me over a week, 3 times a day, to practice and learn to use it. Now I am pretty happy with it. Not only it save the floss, I use about 3 inch every time, but also save my fingers, as I got scars on my fingers by using the floss often enough. The only thing I'd complain about the product is that it can't keep the flat floss flat. What I mean is if you use Glide floss, it's a flat strip, so easy to slide between the tight the teeth. but if you try to put this type of floss on to the fork, the floss will be twisted, so make it like twisted rope once put on, and thus defeat the purpose of using a flat floss. Because of this, I have to switch to Sunstar GUM thin floss, and I found this floss works particularly well with this product. Maybe this is something could help those having tight teeth like me. Anyway, this is a good product. I'll recommend.

Makes it much easier to get between teeth, especially further back as don't have to cram fingers into mouth. Still struggling to motivate myself to floss though
