Great for vape users! Charges 4-18650 (3000 MAH) Flat top batteries, in 7 hours, or less.
(edit: made this a 3-star review because of the wishy-washy customer service I was conversating with via Amazon Email, that is to say, changing their minds constantly, to get another one. I am honestly happy I was able to have ordered a replacement for free as of 4/14/2016, HOWEVER... Read the 3rd paragraph for the updates)Got this in December of 2015. Looked like a great charger. Lasted for 4 months. During that time it ran perfectly. No problems whatsoever. However a couple of days ago before I edited this review (4/11/16) I charged the batteries fully unplugged it went to work came home and tried to charge it a cpl days later on the 11th again and the thing wouldn't light up. I unplugged it between charges so it's not like it got fried..........I mean Right ? I don't know if it's a power cord failure or a charger failure.. I dont think its either but I don't know.In short I have absolutely no idea how this thing broke, I take excellent care of my electronics. It just simply went "Kaputz" from normal wear and tear within 4 months. I'm thankful very much so for the warranty that comes with this thing, I wasnt expecting a warranty and it just so happened I had one.... And for the quick response from EastShine. I'm pretty sure this thing shorted out and when I tried to use the car charger that shorted out too.Last note: Eastshine. When your customers say they dont have a charger, you should have one sent out right away and expect the defective one to be sent back, right away. Not wait for confirmation from the customer for the tracking # to confirm its in the mail, THEN send it. This was my case. I needed this sent 3 days ago and it only got sent on the 14th. It broke on the 11th....

Set your expectations low (vs. Nitecore i4)
All the positive (and critical) reviews about this product are right. The product does indeed exactly what is being advertised to do, is nicely designed, well built, instructions are fairly simple and actually written in good English. From that point of view it deserves 4 or 5 stars. However, being spoiled by all the LaCrosse, Maha and Opus truly smart chargers out there, I was expecting this one to be in the same league. It is not. Not yet, anyways. I already have the Nitecore i4 and the only reason I don't regret buying this one is because it charges Lithium Phosphate. Other than that, if you already have an i4 and don't need the Li-Phosphate function, don't bother. Yes, the LCD is cool and all, but it only shows you total time it charged each cell, the voltage (real time value = cool), charging mode (CC, CV, Low), NiMH or Li-Ion or Li-FePO4 and the current each cell is charging with. All these are things you can totally live without if you already have the i4. Biggest disappointment for me is the fact that it does NOT show the total accumulated charge. Also, there is no Discharge function and no selection of charging current, other than a 'Low'. Yeah, I know...Opus BT-C3400 here I come. I'm also assuming that next year they'll come up with a Nitecore D40 model that will have all these features and likely more. Looking forward to it. One really cool thing I trully like about it is the Inverted backlight LCD. It's got an eerie aspect and is really easy on the eyes with sharp, bright fonts and even lighting.

D4 v.s. LUC V4...
Pretty good. Bought it to replace my Efest LUC V4, so I'll do the review as a comparison. The maximum charging output is less than an LUC V4, the D4 maxing out at 775 mA and about half that while charging 3+, the LUC at 2,000 mA, or 1,000 mA if charging 3+... So, in terms of charging speed, the LUC wins hands down. Also, the wall plug is loose and wobbly on every outlet I've tried it with. My dog walking by the outlet has knocked it out and bent the prongs more than once, which is an issue I never had with my Efest charger. Past that, I like the features on the D4 and hope it can outlast my LUC in terms of durability. As of right now, I'm kind of regretting purchasing a D4 instead of another LUC... But hopefully the durability will be the D4's saving grace. My LUC lasted a 'lil over a year before the ports start going out, so only time will tell.

nice charger
This is better than the Nitecore i4 because its display shows the charging info / state. The Nitecore i4 did not.My only complaint is that the manufacturer could make this charger wider to accommodate 26650 batteries. The slots would have to be wider and the Nitecore D4 would have to be wider. Additionally, the contacts would have to be adjusted so the 26650 batteries would not slip off the positive contact. Currently, I can charge only two 26650 batteries at a time - in slots separated by an empty slot. Even then I have to be careful not to bump the charger once I position the batteries or else the positive tips will slip off the charger's contacts.Hey! If the charging slots are wider, maybe I could also charge my D cells in the Nitecore D4. Right now they are charged in the dumb chargers I bought from Harbor Freight and Amazon.

Works fine but not for all the batteries it designed for.
I bought this to charge lifepo batteries, worked great. Recognizes the battery type automatically and will display on the readout so when you charge batteries, check to make sure it shows the correct battery type.I did have one serious problem with the charger and NIMH batteries. It defaults to the high charge rate and my NIMH batteries over heated to the point that the release valves popped. I tried again to charge NIMH batteries changing the charge rate to the low setting and it charged them fine with no over heating, it just takes longer to charge them. This charger will charge one to four batteries and charges each one individually, a nice feature and the best way to charge them.

Fantastic Smart Charger!
I feel much more comfortable now charging different types of batteries in this smart charger. I have charged 18650, CR123A, AA and AAA batteries in it. It charges nicely and you can see the charge time and progression for each individual battery charging. You can lay it flat on the table or stand it up to view the details on the screen. I like standing it up to keep air circulating around the unit while it is charging. The charger does not get overheated and seems to be a well made product. Highly recommend this battery charger!
