This WAS a fantastic FAN! - update!!!!
UPDATE!! - July 23, 2017 - 3 weeks outside of the 2 year warranty...Fan CRAPPED OUT!!! stopped running. Fan worked great till then. Only ran fan 2 1/2 summer seasons, June through Mid Sept...16 hours a day...not very durable. That's only about 7-8 months over 2 1/2 seasons/years. Manufacturer want $170 for new motor...more than a new fan...Went to home depot and got a HDX 30"July 11, 2015 - We were in need of a new fan as our 20 year old JC Penny 20" metal box fan finally gave out. We had the box fan mounted on a stand and used it help move the air around our 6900watt Inverter/charger grid-interactive solar system. It is mounted on a wall in our garage and in AZ the temp in the garage has been hitting 110deg+.I did buy a cheap box fan which only put out about 1100cfm...not enough to move the air. Th MAXXAIR can move the air. On low speed 3500 CFM which is more than triple the box fan we had tried to use. In our search we could only find an 18" box fan here in Phx. Th MAXXAIR 22" fan really moves the air, on LOW.We've been using this fan for almost 2 weeks now - about 16 hours a day in 95 - 110deg heat in a garage. Some reviews complain about the noise the unit makes...well, I don't think it's as loud as some portray it. If you're gonna move some air your gonna make a little noise with those Aluminum 22" blades. If you want something quieter buy one of the cheaper 1100cfm box fans with the plastic blades.

High quality fan, operates smoothly, easy to assemble, excellent shipping boxes.
This is a great fan; excellent quality in all respects. This is a powerful fan. This fan operates smoothly and is absolutely stable when operating at high speed. The fan has a simple method of adjustment in height as well as the tilting mechanism. This is not cheap plastic fan. Oscillating is smooth throughput cycle. All components seem to be Made in America; EXCEPT the motor, which has a Made in China label. This is disappointing and was tempted to return the fan. I have to wonder “why can’t a motor be made in TEXAS?” However, because the fan was shipped in heavy duty and extensive boxes decided to keep the fan. I will say the motor has a high quality appearance and operates extremely smooth and so decided to keep the fan. FanCo should clearly state that the motor is Made in China or produce a motor Made in America. However, I would buy this fan again because of it’s quality. The fan is used in our covered screened in deck/patio and used in the morning and evening which cools the area.

Good fan - at least for a while
Pros:Relatively quiet motor, strong base, heavy duty cord with plenty of length. Light enough to carry from room to room. 3 speeds offer good airflow choices.Cons:Oscillating mechanism started to squeek after a couple weeks. This is very irritating when yo are trying to sleep. WD40 does little to quiet the noise. A heavy duty fan such as this should have been built with an equally heavy duty oscillating gear. Also, assembling the fan took great agility and innovation. When assembling the front fan shield, a circular clamp w/screw is required to hold it in place. The shield is heavy and moves easily, making it difficult to keep the shield halves alligned while tightening the screw. I took several plastic ties and attached the front shield onto the rear shield with them. Once the front shield was somewhat fixed in place I was able to use both hands to tighten the screw on the clamp to hold the front shield onto the rear shield. Once everything was screwed into place I snipped off the plastic ties and I was done.Update:In October of 2011 the motor slowed to a crawl. I took it apart and found the motor shaft (the back end) was not properly lubricated and was sticky. I cleaned it up, lubed it and it worked OK for a day or two then the problem returned. While cleaning it I found the oscillating mechanism was made out of plastic. I'm disappointed. This is a very cheap motor and probably made in China. My next fan will be a commercial unit with ball bearings on the motor shaft. A Google search for "commercial fans" came up with a nice 30" model. It's a little more expensive but I'm hoping I won't have to replace it every 22 months.

Good Stuff
Pretty powerful, not really noisy - can hear the radio OK. I like the oscillation. Two nits to pick. Wish it had some kind of handle for moving it around. The head doesn't tilt down - I may be able to modify for that. The guard and blade are awkward to unbox - you might want to put a little extra effort into removing them from the box. I dropped the blade and bent one of the tips slightly but was able to straighten it out by hand.Do yourself a favor and lay it flat to put the front of the guard on. That will make it sooo much easier.

was worth the monet but not now
if this was still offered at 110$ (July 2018 pricing) it would be worth it, but at 225$ forget it. you only get about a year and a half (running 24/7) out of the oscillating mechanism, then a new motor is needed. you used to be able to get them for 71$ from the manufacturer but now they now longer sell them, they sell them through other vendors only for about 95$. so much for a great product.

I Am Not Pleased - Missing Components and Can't Use
I just assembled the fan this evening. However, the fan was missing a VERY IMPORTANT component...the "set screw" that attaches the fan blades to the motor spindle. Actually, it probably was not missing. The screw provided was smaller than the threads on the fan blade collar and so it would not attach. I have a very nice electric motor, with a spindle that rotates at various RPM's, protected by a shroud. However, since the fan blades are not attached...it does not blow air...I do NOT have a FAN. I will go to the industrial hardware store tomorrow for some metric set screws. The motor is heavy duty, but the foot of the stand seemed very light gauge steel to me...with four 1/4" deep die formed threaded holes to hold the pedestal attachment bolts. A quality product would use nuts and washers with the four bolts. I expect it to rust and be the first thing to break. I should have spent a little more and bought a fan from a name brand manufacturer like Holmes or Hunter. My bad! Don't make the same mistake.
