What type of plastic is this? is it polycarbonate? polycarbonate has bpa.

Its metal. But dont spend the money. Poorly constructed with bad angles. We returned with a few days

Will this be to small for my 7 year old an 5 year old ?

If your 5yo is average height it will be fine for a while. But it will be pretty short for your 7 year old. (My kids are the same ages). My 7 year old can still use it; he is just much more hunched over so whatever is being hauled doesn’t spill out of the front.

How durable is this? Some reviews say it rusted or the paint chipped off. Has anyone had this a year or more without issues?

It is durable but yes, it rusted a little. But we did leave it out and it got wet so that might have been the problem. Don't know what would have happened if we kept it dry. Very durable. My grandson loves it.
