Over $425 for a vinyl covered chair? Is this leather or not? Hearing mixed opinions. Tx!

For $425 you should not be expecting 10 year warranties quality leather. As a leathercrafter myself, you couldn’t buy enough leather to cover this chair in high quality leather for the $425 price tag. Expectations people, adjust them. The chair costs to mfr, if you want high end leather on your chair, expect to have that done as a custom order after market. And for it to cost at least twice what you spent on the chair, but probably closer to 4x the chair.

What is the width of the seat?

The width of the seat between the arm rests (actual room for your posterior) measures a little over 22". If you add the arm rests and take into account the angle of them, the chair width is just a bit over 28" at the point where you sit. For me, it provides plenty of room. I'm a guy and I was about 300 lbs when I bought the chair. I've lost weight since then, but I still love the chair. It is very comfortable for me.

Does the chair rock, or does it just tilt to a fixed position? If it rocks, is there a tension control for the rocking spring?

The chair does rock all the way back or you can lock it in place so that it does not rock. It can only be locked in the upright position and cannot be locked in between the upright position and the fully reclined position. It does have a tension control for the rocking spring. Hope this helps.
