Jon Gordon has done it again with "The Power of a Positive Team." He has taken his encouraging words of positivity, love, caring, and team work and bundled them into a book that speaks volumes. There are so many tidbits and words of wisdom that anyone who is a member of a team can benefit from reading. You say you aren't part of a team? What about your family, your work, your friends? We are all part of a team and this book is for you. Some favorite parts: "When you walk into the office, or the meeting, or into the school, hospital, or locker room, you have a decision to make. Are you going to be a germ to your team or a big dose of Vitamin C?" "[Teams] give up because the obstacle seems more powerful than them and they don't have the faith to keep moving forward. But you don't have to give up. You don't have to let fear win. You can know that all things are possible to a team that believes." Near the end of the book, Jon talks about the Greek word Meraki: to do something with love, soul, and creativity; to leave a piece of yourself in your work; to leave something behind. Thank you Jon Gordon for this piece of work and for your meraki.

A team is not really a team unless it has certain characteristics- if it does not have these it will be just a collection of individuals, often pulling in different directions. This book deals with how to energize a team and take them to better performance- it is not a hard read, and sets out the principles really well. The need for team work is well established in the military and in business, Every possible aspect of taking a team to winning performance is succinctly set out in this book with many anecdotes to illustrate the principles. I would recommend it to any team leader and members who want to achieve more from a real team. the point the author makes is that real team individuals are not pursuing their own goals, but the team goals, and the book deals with how to take a team from that position to a team whose performance is great. The real like examples are short and sharp and are all drawn from real life examples with real recognizable people and examples
