Very pretty, sturdy case, a little slippery
I really like the aesthetics of this case. It looks great on the purple Galaxy phone. The blue gradient is not as vibrant as the product photo, but I honestly like that it's more subtle. Also as the photos show, it's very sparkly! Which I personally really like, but I don't think the product photo depicts it well enough. I tried to show sparkliness in natural diffuse lighting vs direct overhead lighting. The case feels sturdy though I haven't dropped my phone (yet) to know how well it protects the phone. I'll edit this later once I know for sure. The case doesn't have a lot of grip to it, its fairly slippery, so be careful!EDIT: I've dropped the phone a few times now and there hasn't been any damage, so I'd say the case is doing its job. I am a little bummed though because the case is scratched already. Be wary storing this case close to your car keys.

Super disappointing. Do not buy!
I had an Otterbox for my old phone and it had protected my phone quite well, drop after drop. The phone looked brand new when removed. So when I upgraded my phone to the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, I decided to order another Otterbox, since it had been so good on my last phone (a Samsung Galaxy S7)Just received this today, and as soon as I opened the package, I noticed it wasn't sealed in any way. There were obvious smudges on the clear case, and I was surprised to note that there wasn't even any protective film on either the inside or outside of the case. I've tried cheaper cases, MUCH cheaper cases from other manufacturers that were thoughtful enough to at least put a protective film on a new case. I was starting to think that this case wasn't exactly "new." To top it off, upon further inspection, I noticed stress cracks, almost entirely around the case, where the bumper meets the clear backing, even on the corners. I would expect to see this on a case that might have been dropped hard, but to see it on what's supposed to be a new case, right out of the package is completely unacceptable. I would not trust this case with my phone in it's present condition as I can't trust that the structural integrity of the case isn't compromised when there are cracks all around it.I do have another clear case from Spigen ( Spigen Ultra Hybrid Galaxy S9 Plus Case with Air Cushion Technology and Clear Hybrid Drop Protection for Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (2018) - Crystal Clear ) that I had been using in the meantime, but I wanted something with a little bit more beef to it since I do a lot of work over concrete. While not as thick as the Otterbox, I haven't noticed a single stress crack on it, and it's protected the phone from a couple short drops already. In fact, it still looks like new. I will be returning this Otterbox immediately. Spigen Ultra Hybrid Galaxy S9 Plus Case with Air Cushion Technology and Clear Hybrid Drop Protection for Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (2018) - Crystal Clear

Best case in years!
As someone who uses their phone for everything, protection is absolutely necessary, especially given the price of these phones today. I've tried most cases, here's what I found. First I'm partial to black cases so I can't comment on the other colors except clear cases. In the old days I used the OtterBox Defender, it was like carrying a brick. The outer layer always became loose and the inner layer clips always seem to break taking it off. The Commuter Series was just ok, but seriously lacking in the aesthetics Dept. It was like a cheap knockoff of the Defender to be honest. I wasn't the only one and Spigen became the new king. Phones became more sophisticated with better aesthetics, like infinity displays. One piece TPU cases were much better, on and off the phone easily, and Spigen proved it with its popularity. However, the protection overall wasn't the worst but not the greatest. Spigen is really good, but not great. Back to a two piece design wirh, in my opinion, better aesthetics - the Incipio Case. It solved the issues of the original OtterBox Defender, but it didn't solve the skin coming off the outer layer. It was never dropped once but looked like it had been dropped numerous times on rocks. It too felt like holding a brick. Cheap generic cases are just that, cheap cases. You want a broken phone, get a cheap case and drop the phone. Now the new OtterBox Symmetry, a new one piece design, dual layer, snaps on and off easily easily, very snug fit, stunning aesthetic in my opinion - the best so far, and offers great protection. The extremely hard outer layer is rock solid as protection from a rock solid drop. The inner side will absorb the shock but not scratch the phone. It's snug, will not move on the phone, will not get loose, or coming off. It definitely isn't going to peel. Being that it is an extremely hard case, it is slippery. A fair trade off for the protection, though the sides are gripy so simmer down, you'll get used to it and probably be glad you did knowing your phone is completely protected. So get use to the feel by being safe holding it at first. A lot of negative reviews, who holds their device from the back anyway unless using suction cups. A small physics lesson. I read one review saying it wasn't raised. It is raised at the top and bottom several millimeters but not the sides. This is an awesome new feature because you still get the fullness of an infinity display for example, yet if the phone falls it will hit those raised edges first and land on those edges no matter how it's dropped and direction it tips. As for clear cases, they will all discolor over time and distort the original caseless color of the phone. As for the review saying the case scratches, explain how you scratched a case where the materials are so dense it's hard as a rock. Yes, that's why it's slippery, the manufactured materials are dense making the outer shell very hard and protective. Sorry, but soft shell cases flex, we all know what that means, as someone with a broken phone. It's nice to have OtterBox making a comeback in a huge way. I love it, I think you will too. I'm also predicting Spigen hoping this OtterBox Symmetry doesn't catch on in popularity as it's better than anything Spigen has to offer or it's going heads up with OtterBox.

Cute but not accurate discription
Very pretty case and fits snuggly so there are no worries of it coming off. The discription is a little off. It states that the case sits above the screen. But that is definitely not the case. The screen on the phone sits way above the actual case. Now I will have to buy a tempered glass cover to protect the original screen.

Doesn't interfere with screensaver
I previously owned the Galaxy S7 and used an almost identical Otterbox (commmuter) case like this one. The Symmetry series is pretty much identical to the previous Commuter series of the Otterbox cases. It saved my phone for 2yrs time and time again from innumerous falls onto concrete. Now I own the Galaxy S9+ and I really love this case since it does not interfere with the screensaver like the Otterbox Defender. I wish I could use the otter Box defender case, but I can't since it interferes with my screensaver. This one is slimmer and trimmer than the Defender series, but yet I feel confident it will save and protect my s9+ from any falls just like the Commuter series did for my s7.
