Speedball Oblique Pen Set - 1 Penholder w/ 4 Nibs, 2 Pen Points

Ideal beginners calligraphy set. Oblique pen is a plastic version but still a good quality product. 4 Hunt 101 nibs for copperplate calligraphy. The other 2 nibs are no use to me.

This is a lovely set at a very reasonable price. I am a total novice and I love the Hunt 101 nibs (only my technique occasionally lets them down). These nibs are very sharp and are supposed to be! They need a very light touch on the upstroke or they will snag and you will end up with ink splats on your work. But with practice you will get better. I would not recommend these nibs for an absolute beginner as most will be a little too heavy handed to get the best from them. Having said that if you treat with a very light touch, there is no reason why you can't use them as a beginner. I would recommend this set anyway for beginners as you get the oblique nib holder included, into which you can put more beginner friendly 'G' nibs in, and when you are more used to using nibs you will have the 101's to try out.
