Didn’t even last 1 year.
Product didn’t even last a year!! Started using it in Oct 2021. Within less than 1 year the fire alarm went off for no apparent reason. Tried to reset it several times to no avail. Finally had to permanently disable it. Hope will be able to get a replacement one.

Lasted only 10 weeks
Received, installed, and activated it on 22 Feb 2022. Last night (3 May 2022) it started beeping every 60 seconds. The 10 year battery lasted only 10 weeks. I was forced to disable it as the beeping was unbearable.

Something is terribly wrong with this product
Something is terribly wrong with this product. I have never before encountered a fire alarm that will not stop before. I called Kidde after having to disable two of them as the literally beeped like the house was on fire for two days under a pile of blankets and they are replacing them. The woman at Kidde was very kind and told me to vacuum the alarms monthly and keep a can of compressed air to use to try to stop false alarms. I also mentioned I live on a farm and she said that photoelectric alarms are not good for dusty environments and they are also incompatable with humidifiers which I had been using one room over to treat some sick animals. The door was closed where the humidifier was but that seems to be what set one of the alarms off, the other alarm was set off by boiling water and also had to be permanently disabled which really makes no sense because this model is for kitchens...The Kiddie rep. said if they have problems again they would most likely replace them with a different model as these are not compatible with our lifestyle. I give Kidde five stars for customer care but the product needs to be redesigned as it has a very limited environment it will perform correctly in. We always have some animals in our home be it our pets, young birds in a brooder or a bird that needs care from injury/illness, we also live in the country so having a dust free home is pretty much impossible.

20% of units are defective
The ones that aren't defective are nice because they require less maintenance and protect you from fire and CO2; however, about 20% of the ones I have bought have been defective in terms of sounding a false fire alarm and not being able to turn them off without totally disabling the unit by turning the permanent disable switch behind the seal on the back. When they are defective in this way, they cannot be hushed, you have to disable them to stop the siren and then throw them in the garbage. Not fun to get a false alarm, and not fun to throw money down the trash when it is supposed to last 10 years. I bought 20 of these for several different houses, and 4 of the 20 have been defective within two years.

A ten year alarm that can’t make it past a year of operation is not a good product. Luckily we were home both times the ...
I purchased this product to have it malfunction on me. It would just keep beeping without any smoke or carbon monoxide present. I used compressed air and it would stop the beeping for 30 secs and then it would continue beeping. I took the alarm outside and sprayed compressed air into the unit and it would stop for 30 secs and then it would start beeping again. (spraying compressed air was what Kidde support told me to do as they said dust could cause the unit to malfunction).I had them send me another unit and this one failed as well and in the same manner. A ten year alarm that can’t make it past a year of operation is not a good product. Luckily we were home both times the alarms failed as our dog hates the noise it makes and runs into the other room when it goes off.I am glad I got First Alert Alarms for my parents as the wife and I had them before in our last house and never had an issue with them before. I tried Kidde because of the brand name and I will not purchase again.
