The Girls

I bought this after seeing it on cbeebies bedtime stories. It's a strong female focused story that does not involve fairies, princesses, unicorns, cupcakes, cooking, or makeup. My 4yo girl loves this book so much so, that she's taken to renaming the characters after herself and her friends and I've got to recall who it's supposed to be who when reading her the book.

This truly is such a wonderful book. I purchased it for my young son and I’m so glad I did. It is a beautiful tale about the ups and downs of life, going from a child to a grownup. It shows children that if you surround yourself with likeminded kind people, you will never have to face anything life has to offer alone. The book itself is beautiful quality and the illustrations are colourful and so intriguing. My little boy really loved this book, as did I!

We love this book as a family. It brings a tear to my eye how charming the book is. Current and relevant. Very subtly introduces how normal it is that one out of the four girls isn’t heterosexual. They do this by going to a Pride event and when she moves in with her partner. The story and illustration shows beautifully how amazingly different the girls are and how they compliment each other as a friend group.It leaves you with a warm feeling in your heart when you read this to your child and they really enjoy it too.

The Girls are lifelong friends who have been there for each other through all of life’s hills and valleys as they grew.I originally bought this book because I have four daughters. I hope that they grow up with as tight a bond as the quartet in this book. The story moved me so much, however, that I bought three more copies to give to my own best friends. I can’t wait to share this with them.

A beautiful story. I bought this for my best friends one year old daughter on her first birthday. There is a blank bordered page at the back which I wrote I hoped one day she would be as lucky to find a friendship when she grows up like her mom and I have. She loved it! I’ve now purchased again for my other friends daughter who is 6 and will write the same message.
